1. PSA: If you haven’t already, check out Hyundai’s other 2 modern retro concepts. My favourite is the Grandeur EV.

  2. There’s no historical sites waiting to be developed burnt down there is there?

  3. Well some have been trying to shut down the automotive-recreation facilities there for some time. Though I think they may already have done

  4. The Archerfield Drift park got shot down a couple of years ago as it was deemed in breach of council regulations, specifically because those events were being held in the car park which the council said should be used for, you know, an actual car park.

  5. Real shame. They’ll go back to doing it on the street if there isn’t a place to do it legally. It has always happened and always will. It’s not as bad when there’s places to do it legally that are easy to access.

  6. Positive re-enforcement will usually work better than outright enforcement of law. Most folks don’t realise they’ve gathered a bit of speed and crept over the limit because, if you’re a good driver, you’ll be paying more attention to your surroundings, possible hazards, and only checking your speed intermittently.

  7. Agreed we talk about or should be talking about the data/hard facts. Also you have good and bad on all sides of war. Just when side is heavily leaning towards bad I'd rather not side with them. Ultimately we are all beings of this universe who should co-exist and remember we are all in the suck together.

  8. Sorry, this is too hard for some to understand. Get back to slurping up your preferred side of the information war.

  9. I am currently harboring a family of Tasmanian tigers to spite the Australians

  10. Your neighbour is going to kill someone in wet weather. Tyre grooves disperse water, otherwise, the tyre will aquaplane and slide OVER the water. And in an SUV which is heavy and already handles worse than a car? He’ll probably kill whoever he hits and be fine. However, if he crashes and police see his fronts were that low, he is f*cked to put it lightly..

  11. Oh cool, this is my livery design, thanks for using it! 😁

  12. Good work, it looks awesome. Inspiration from the R31 Silhouette Formula Skyline?

  13. I’ve never got how SUVs look good. They are usually a sedan, wagon or hatch design that’s been stretched out to adapt to the egg-shaped SUV body.

  14. The front end of the Durango looks much meaner and muscular than any van.

  15. Every car looks mean or angry now. Toyota were the first to realise that if they make a RAV-4 look angry, men start buying them too. Minivans seem to be the only exception to this though.

  16. The family visit out of town this weekend cost me nearly $100 in fuel alone in a 4-cylinder.

  17. My favorite in my area is Glendale Heights, in which there is no glen, dale, or heights.

  18. Wouldn’t that be an oxymoron? Glendale (Valley of fertile land) & Heights (Land that rises above surrounding countryside)

  19. Yeah so what a lot of people seem to not realise is this. Public Relations is almost always more affective at getting your message across than marketing.

  20. When I was 22 I thought I never wanted a life like that. Then you grow up, get a girlfriend, a kid, and before you know it that is exactly how you like to want to spend your weekend. I start to think we are genetically programmed that way..

  21. Well if you’ve started a family then free time goes down, the need for personal space and security goes up. So yeah, despite the downvotes you’re correct. We are genetically programmed to want security. I just reckon suburbs are a shitty way of achieving it.

  22. For convenience and price, Vietnamese Oven at Buranda. Best bread I’ve had for Banh Mi and you can grab a coffee or basic pho. Most mornings they have an line out front

  23. There are ongoing genocides in Africa and China, so...

  24. The World Police should be the UN, but that dog hasn’t got any teeth. Without adding a shred of context, they seem about as useless at war-prevention as the League of Nations.

  25. The UN is teeming with corruption and back room deals, giving them an army would be counterproductive. In order to go and do something effectively, you'd have to go against a member. What if the UN decided the U.S. is too dangerous, and needed all their weapons melted? Who gets a veto and why? It would just be countries bullying other countries, but now with a fake seal of approval

  26. This is the best point here. But it’s so much easier to just make a bold claim without context which is why I did it

  27. I’ve driven around Mt. Coot-tha in the wet several times in real life. It’s good fun because any other time it’s covered in cyclists

  28. They should've added talking heads to the soundtrack instead

  29. And they may ask themselves, well, How did we get here?

  30. They’re the best ones, but isn’t Mt. Gravatt closed to the public during night hours?

  31. Changing Road Safety. Speeding is dangerous. I’ve never had a speeding fine but I pay very close attention to all aspects of my driving as everyone should. But the emphasis that’s put on minor speeding offences here is ridiculous (except in school zones). Someone could go past that van @50km/h over the limit, continue to do so for 3km and kill some family down the road. At least their partner and kids will get a fine in the mail a month later. Visible policing is much better for slowing people down. But if you really wanted to improve road safety, you’d start by creating seperate cycle infrastructure, more accessible public transport, make drastic improvements to driver training and education, and stop providing tax incentives on big Utes, Vans and SUVs. These stats are from the US IIHS, but they are still relevant here. Utes = 89% more likely to kill pedestrians than cars. (IIHS) SUVs = 63% more likely to kill pedestrians than cars. (IIHS) 59% more pedestrians were killed on US roads in 2020, than 2009. Utes, Vans and SUVs made up 47% of their market in 2009, and over 75% in 2020 (AP). Pair this with normal cars increasing in size, the picture gets clearer still. If the government cared about road safety, they’d stop listening to what Automotive Lobby Groups and the Police want, and start listening to research centres that actually compile this data TLDR; Less cars on the road, smaller cars on the road, more visible policing, far more intense driver training. That’s how we save those we care about. Until then, eyes forward. Check your speed regularly, check your mirrors, and stay safe.

  32. Agreed. The level of "training" I got when I went for my license was not sufficient now looking back after doing courses like defensive driving, snow & ice/4WD etc. These courses give you a far better understanding of the limitations of your vehicle and would definitely help road safety if more people were encouraged to participate.

  33. I only got my license a few years ago, and the tests were apparently far more intensive than those my parents went through. And yet they’re still way behind those of some other countries.

  34. Exactly, seems like a pretty good idea actually. Nearby where I grew up there was an estate with a speeding problem so they installed speed bumps. Now, those are annoying!

  35. Spawn point is the Nudgee dump isn’t it?

  36. Free p*rking and no e-bikes or public transit 🤢🤮

  37. I see a school bus, that’s somewhat public transport

  38. How do I park my jeep to take more space and annoy more people?

  39. Good news, Jeep now has the Gladiator which takes up twice as much space as a normal Wrangler with half the versatility.
