1. I wouldn't worry about spot. I would worry about long term trajectories. Is the world going to have enough LNG long term? Is there going to be LNG long term? And is Putin going to do the stupidest thing possible?

  2. It is very clear what side Plemons is fighting for. He calls the loyalist-born people real Americans.

  3. I thought it was incredibly clear who was who in the vast majority of scenes, and I also thought it was incredibly clear that the Western Forces were not the good guys, whatever they themselves thought they were.

  4. That's just Reddit. Repeating the same facts and jokes every time you see an opportunity until the end of time

  5. why I'll break your arms with jumper cables

  6. I had bought a huge package of toilet paper from Sam’s Club in the Fall 2019. I forgot I bought it and bought another huge pack. I was annoyed with myself and wondering how I would store 2 huge packages of toilet paper. I decided to just keep them. It’s a good thing I had them because it was a long time before toilet paper was available in plenty supply.

  7. I used to Airbnb my spare room pre-Covid, so I'd buy big multi-packs. As luck would have it I needed to re-order one towards the end of Feb and literally the same day I got round to it the panic kicked off. It took a month to arrive and the Amazon driver was giving me some serious side-eye dropping it off.

  8. it started the end of my junior year. completely cancelled my junior prom. bled into my senior year which was completely online, and we didn’t even get a senior prom. I got no proms. the saddest part is I still have my prom dress with my in my closet ever since I bought it in 2019 to wear some point down the line to fulfill the void in me of never having a prom. The only thing we got was a graduation with struck guidelines on social spacing. nobody could sit shoulder to shoulder and we all had to wear masks.

  9. Get in touch with your classmates and suggest organising a "reunion prom"

  10. It’s weird – a lot of drivers don’t actually seem to look at the marker at all. Even when they’re struggling to find somewhere.

  11. I think a lot of them navigate by postcode, possibly on a different app entirely. I have endless problems because my building is (say) 17, but the postcode pin for my building lands on another building which is numbered on a side street but also happens to be number 17 so I am now very good friends with the people in the same flat number in that building.

  12. No, AI is taking over coding jobs, specially the easier ones like python

  13. Ah balls. Mathematicians don't do arithmetic, but they know how to, and they sure as hell haven't been replaced by calculators. The CEO of Nvidia's job is to sell AI so he's hardly an unbiased source.

  14. Well, I am very close to the tech scene and at this moment Copilot for example increased engineers productivity with minimum 30% and hence the massive layoffs in that sector. There is a big difference between a Calculator and generative AI.

  15. New technology causes resource reallocation, more at 11.

  16. You might like to have a look at takadimi.

  17. It's the Cock of the North, in G (a lot of settings will be in A).

  18. On (1), can you sing comfortably (within your range)? Not well or anything but can you confidently hit a note that you aim for? If not, that would be the first thing to try and develop.

  19. The reptile part of your brain is worried that it might drop something, so it's doing the sensible thing: squeezing tighter.

  20. And the worse part is false accusations are even more of a problem with kids than adults, for a variety of reasons.

  21. And crucially, kids have their own world view, relationships, and wants/needs which may not be rational to an adult but are still very real. So for example a child reporting real abuse may name someone who is not the abuser to find out what happens and what the consequences are.

  22. Bath, Harrogate, Oxford in some respects.

  23. If I were in your situation reading my post, that's exactly what I would have assumed. I'm a science minded guy, and I like to test with controlled situations and limit variables. I'm also kind of "The Guy" when it comes to teaching people how to blow steady so that's not the problem.

  24. It's fairly well known at a certain level that the same chanter intonates differently for different players. There are soloists who have chanters with custom hole layouts that suit what their lungs produce. It's a difficult topic, not least because the science! fundamentalists enjoy explaining why it couldn't possibly be true while refusing to ever listen to a note.

  25. Are you confident constructing scales using the tone-tone-semitone pattern, the semitones between B/C and E/F, and the scale spelling rules? If not, I'd get confident with that first. All this stuff falls out of that naturally.

  26. Yes the part about him not wanting the house to be sold by the council doesn't make sense if he has written a will. If he owns the house he gets to decide who it goes to!

  27. Old chap is trying to avoid care fees, which he'll probably need to find for his last few months. If he has no savings then yes, local authority would probably sell up although his estate should get the net. But I can understand the "fuck you" element of it.

  28. Set up a channel on Youtube and stream the last 10-15 minutes of your practice each day.

  29. You would expect some small differences due to pressure management and altering the shape of the resonating cavity behind the reed. But you should not be getting wild swings, full stop.

  30. They’ve been campaigning to bring back the high street for 20 years now.

  31. The main piece of advice I would give is: once you have packed your pipes to your satisfaction, throw them as hard as you can from a first-floor window onto a paved surface. If you're not confident about doing that, add moar packing.

  32. More pressure=more likely to squeak, but what causes the squeak is most often the sides of the reed not being fully airtight. (Or the reed seat, but that's less common). Somewhat counterintuitively, stronger reeds are more likely to squeak as they have the meat to support the upper octave.

  33. I know you love your Gramps but please, unless Gramps is actually a violin luthier, please take it off him and get it looked at elsewhere. Most of the obvious ways to repair violins are completely wrong and will ruin your instrument, quickly or slowly.

  34. I’ve overheard my mum and also other people in my house saying that I just play the same songs over and over and so now I just get really self conscious about doing that

  35. The harsh reality of being a musician is that the only opinions worth listening to are those of other musicians whom you respect and who have relevant experience in the area in which they are giving advice.

  36. And how are you going to get the dart that’s now stuck in the ceiling after the balloon is popped?

  37. Use a helium balloon to hide it, simples

  38. Apologies if my previous comment was unclear, I graduated a decade ago. To make sure I’m understanding correctly, I’ll need a second undergrad degree in accounting - yes?

  39. Nope. A degree would offer you some exemptions but you can do CPA from scratch.

  40. I saw a paper the other day suggesting that all practice does for you is improve motor skills and that your ear for music is inherent and predetermined.

  41. I kind of took it as in that context as the ability to perceive things being off-key. Like, my ear training has made me better at recognizing chords and intervals but my ability to perceive if my guitar is in tune has not improved.
