The amount of things you have to change to make the story of '06 remotely palatable, it might as well be an entirely original story.

I don't think so, mostly just change Sonic's story and make his relationship with Elise into friendship and we're good. Shadow's arc is fantastic and Silver's story is good as well. Just need to write them well enough to fit in a 2hr movie

And what about the things that are different for the movies? What are the human supporting characters going to do in this movie? What do you do if Jim Carrey doesn't want to return as Eggman for it? How do you explain what Iblis is when Earth has been portrayed pretty much entirely as being identical to our Earth (save for there being a town called Green Hills and a long lost ancient temple in the ocean)?

If Jim Carrey doesn't wanna return, you could just write Eggman off from the story and change Sonic's story to involve him trying to get away from Silver and discovering who Iblis Trigger is, thus meeting Elise.

I'd honestly rather have less cars than too much. Let's be real, how many cars in Forza are you going to use? Sure enough, NFS needs to have a bigger car list. But they need to pick these cars pretty carefully and get rid of having convertibles or different trims as different cars completely.

I think the difference is demographic. I like the open world and not sim track racing gameplay. Me personally? I'm only gonna use the cars I like which is ford escorts, focus', fiestas, peugeout 205, lancia etc while never touching anything remotely "super" but a ton of people will play and think that they are just shitboxes and only use hypercars. This is why I love the car lists in stuff like grid (edit: turns out capri is in a bunch I just never actually got it and you can't see the full car lists), dirt, wrc etc but I just can't play them

I like a lot of different cars, ranging from these you mentioned to Koenigseggs, but I would just simply evade different trims, cabrios and too many generations of the same model honestly, and maybe not too much of one manufacturer
