1. Having just had my return flight cancelled from Florence, I would likely never fly in or out of FLR again. I learned the runway is really short and at the end of it is mountains...so any weird weather patterns and flights are severely impacted.

  2. Interesting tale but not what I was asking about

  3. Your bag will be checked through. You should have time assuming no delays

  4. I was at ORD this morning and noticed the sign for touchless, is it something anyone can use as long as they have precheck?

  5. No. You have to opt in when checking in for a flight. And as I understand it, you will only be offered the option if, besides KTN, you also have your passport data saved to your UA profile in the app. That gives TSA something to compare to when they snap your pic. Your boarding pass will have a little icon next to TSA Pre.

  6. We have a 2014 F56 with approx 80k miles. Local independent shop replaced front right bearing for $550 in June 2022 and rear right for $390 in Sept 2023. Both prices included parts and labor. We’re in New England.

  7. Used Touchless Precheck at ORD this past Wed mid-morning. Time from entering line landside to standing airside was approx 90 seconds. Is that available at DEN?

  8. So far not a fan. Had it for the first time on a MAX 9 last week. Couldn’t get my Bose QC2 earbuds to stay paired for more than a couple seconds. Gave up after a few tries and just set screen to rotate the nature pics. Then watched a movie on my phone.

  9. Depends on what’s on the Polaris dinner menu.

  10. IAD unanimous winner. Thanks everyone for chiming in!

  11. Really? You might be the first person I've ever heard say that. They're so bizarre, and I feel for the folks who are visiting for the first time—welcome to America's terrible infrastructure. I imagine they thought they were cool back in the day, but it's the most inefficient way to get from the plane to the terminal ever devised.

  12. I was talking about not minding the lounges that shuttle between A and C/D concourses. Never done the plane mate international disembarkation but that sounds like a cluster.

  13. The mere fact that this tunnel provokes so much discussion proves that it is sheer marketing genius

  14. Must have parked the plane in Schenectady by accident overnight

  15. Ha yeah, in that case I’m surprised there’s that much of it left. Check the local pawn shops for Embraer wheels and doors

  16. No refunds or flight credits. Have to pay extra for seat selection. Last to board the plane. Only allowed a personal item.

  17. Yes to this. Only go BE if you thoroughly understand all the restrictions and how changes in your plans (like needing an extra bag or having to change flight) can quickly eat up any initial savings. My college-age daughter loves BE because she can pay Spirit/Frontier fares but still fly on grown-up metal.

  18. There are lots of factors that go into "good price" including your budget, time of day for flight, how "fresh" you need to be upon landing, and much more. But in general, anything under $100/hour Polaris upgrade cost is commonly considered to be a decent price.

  19. I’m jealous of y’all who got crazy-ass offers that you can come here and bitch about. I made Plat via pqp-only and I didn’t even get an offer - they said I’m “not eligible”. I feel like such a loser.

  20. I made Plat via pqp-only route - ended year with 28 pqf and 16100 pqp. I didn’t get an offer, presumably bc I was a looooong way from 1k. But yeah, would have been interesting to see what price they put on it.

  21. Experience - yes many times I’ve been on plane that took off or landed while it was windy. Suggestion - get to the gate when UA tells you to.

  22. I think so. AeroLOPA only shows this one config

  23. Also to/from ALB. Love this plane. Wish they ran it on ALB-ORD during slow season instead of the E145.

  24. Disco Tunnel. Beats IAD Penfed tunnel hands down.

  25. First sentence OP said agents had “patience of saints”. Reading is fundamental

  26. Sad to say but starting in January, UA will no longer be serving a choice of meals if your flight is under 900 miles . MCO-EWR is over 900 so that's good. Currently it's 800+ miles you'll get a choice of a hot meal. In January it'll be a "premium snack basket". It really sucks. Being Denver based, I loved getting meal service on my flight to LAX, SNA, ORD etc.

  27. Oh man, that sucks for you. EWR-MCO was a one-off trip for us down to see the Mouse. My usual route is ALB-ORD (~720 miles) so I wasn’t getting fed on the plane anyway. I wonder how many meals a day that 100 mile change saves UA across the entire network.

  28. I had this happen recently and they didn't offer any compensation...just a lasagna instead of the enchiladas. Should I ask if this happens again?

  29. This thread just serves to show that compensation is sometimes offered in these circumstances. I suspect MP status level and cabin class play into whether FA preemptively offers it. Personally we didn’t feel we were owed it, since we both got a meal that we were happy with. Whether you should ask for it is your call. You do you.

  30. Yes this. Same basic rationale as why instead of EU statutory compensation of €600 (approx $650) for at-fault delay/cancel, they give $1000 ETC. From UA perspective hard cash is money out the door today, while ETC either isn’t claimed for a while (and maybe not fully) or is never claimed.

  31. Awesome to hear it went smoothly and with a doggo bonus!Though, I don't give much credence to flight times and on time arrivals anymore. It seems like flights that 10 years ago were listed as 4 1/2 hours are now magically 6 hours. But, they got us there ahead of schedule despite pushing late and having a long taxi!!

  32. Under-promising makes it much easier to over-deliver. The name of the game is setting modest expectations in the pax mind. Tell someone it’s a 4.5 hour flight and they’re mad when it takes 5.5. But tell them it’s a 6 hour trip and they’re thrilled when it ends up being 5.5.

  33. Saw one at IAD A4 regional gates earlier this week.

  34. Same thing happened to my daughter a while back when she and I were traveling together. Her BP wouldn’t scan after several attempts, so GA simply said “go ahead”.

  35. Is this visible to boarding pax? Love to verify BP scan as I hear it beep but never know a good beep from a bad one! :)

  36. At least at my usual airports - ALB and ORD - right above BP scan glass is a one-line display that shows pax name for a second or two after scanning BP. Not sure if all gates at all airports are equipped with same technology.

  37. I’ll take perfume/cologne over BO 8 days a week twice on Sunday please.
