It's a 2.5 gallon however the reason why I'm interested in it is the filter has a spout built into it so it can be emptied straight into a bucket or sink that would make doing frequent water changes really easy.
Some at hobby lobby like house and dragon and snails and frogs and butterflies and all that but others like tubes and flower thing I dollar trees I believe
They don’t “have” to be per se, but they’re much more manageable. Especially during handling, gecks freak out a little more when you grab them from above.
okay! i was just wondering. i got my 40 gallon breeder for only $60 so i went with a top opening instead. my gecko hasn’t ever been spooked by my hand so i think it’s up to each individual gecko
so for the whole time i’ve had him (since september 2021) he has had a staple diet of mealworms. he will occasionally get crickets. recently, he has gotten hornworms, maybe in the past six months or so. and he also has waxworms as a treat, but very very rarely. i have tried super worms and that is the only thing he does not like. i have a phobia of roaches but i am open to feeding him dubias. my question is, can i do the small ones or do they have to be big. my fear is that i would be unable to feed the big ones, as they completely freak me out. i hope this makes sense! but if anyone has any recommendations of anything to feed please let me know, i want him to have lots of variety!!!
hey! my geckos tail looks very similar to this and i was wondering if you could go to my profile and check it out. many people say he looks good but skinny ish or “perfect” and i just want as many opinions as i possibly can have!
Please feel free to nit pick this. I’ve kept many reptiles but never a leopard gecko and I’d rather y’all nit pick me to death than give my gecko anything short of a great home
Yeah I haven’t put any water in yet didn’t see a need since there isn’t a gecko yet but how big of a bowl do they need are they like snakes who occasionally get in the water to help with sheds or do they rely on their humid hide for shedding water and use the bowl just to drink
I changed his habitat not so long ago since im trying to start a bioactive habitat(the 2 cactus are real, but safe for him), it has a day night light and heating cycles and everyting, butnsince i changed it like this he barely ever leaves his midle cave. I was thinking of doing a rocky desert like enclosure, since i've always heard its their natural habitat. I wanted to know if you guys have any tips for doing it while keeping it bioactive and such
my leo never used to leave his one hide and after getting him a bigger tank he is so much happier. so i would suggest going with a 40 gallon breeder tank
okay! also if you didn’t know they are actually doing a half off sale at petco for aquariums, and they do them all throughout the year. i wish you luck with your leo!!
super cute leo!! i would suggest adding some more clutter and climbing opportunities to utilize your vertical space. i could be wrong but this looks like a ten gallon, and if it is 20 gallon long is minimum. i would suggest doing a 70% organic top soil and 30% play sand. the mixture is under ten dollars at lowes!! i would definitely add more plants, and the dollar store has great ones or adding love plants is very beneficial. the last thing is one to two more hides so they can have some variety. good luck!!
Thanks so much for all the advice! It's a 20gal, but I ordered him a 40gal long, and some Terra Sahara substrate :) I'm hoping to make his terrarium bioactive, so I'll be adding live plants that are safe for him, as well as springtails and such. I'm so excited about having this little fella, and it's been so helpful finding such a supportive and informative community <3
the “sand” on them can easily come off and be ingested by the gecko. they also are very pricy so it would probably be better to just go with tile or a mix of soil and sand.
Definitely not too late to try! A warm soak for 15m will help to get it loosened. Shed-ease in the bath can also help. If he’s had shedding issues before it might be good to check if your multivitamin has preformed vitamin a (retinol) as well, a deficiency can contribute to shedding and eye issues (Got this advice from our vet after dealing with some eye issues related to stuck shed we think may have gotten in the eye).
Yes i let them roam around, only thing i worry about is they go under my covers then i can’t find them bc they be sleep under it and don’t move so i have a mini panic episode trying to find them. I also have these big pillows they tend to climb on them to go close to my headboard and just lay there
Morph of cuteness! I’m not sure of actual lol you should get rid of the colored bulbs. They’re not good for reptiles. Halogen bulbs from the hard ware store are cheaper, last longer, work way better. Also you said they came from an expo, they definitely need some time to adjust, especially going into a bigger tank (new home) you should also try a rescue or rehoming situation first. Market is over flooded with breeders. So many go unwanted and not taken care of. How’s the temps and humidity? How’s the actual setup?
The substrate I used is a mix of top soil and red clay from Texas. The reason it looks so wet is because I spilled his water bowl. I'm looking into a bigger tank for him but he's still a baby. I've got a 30 gallon for my little dragon that I'm going to transfer him to once I get a 60 gallon for my beardie.

i have a topfin one that does the same thing! look up topfin tank with water change feature and it is five gallons and way better quality!!
hi! forgive me if i am wrong, but is your dragon dehydrated? the sunken in skin and the wrinkles is a sign
Some at hobby lobby like house and dragon and snails and frogs and butterflies and all that but others like tubes and flower thing I dollar trees I believe
our setups are very similar and our leo’s look the same!
Awww that’s so cute I’d love see picz
it’s on my profile!
mine is identical to yours and people have said he is a wild type!
They don’t “have” to be per se, but they’re much more manageable. Especially during handling, gecks freak out a little more when you grab them from above.

Exactly. You made a great home for your geck and even got it cost effective for you. Way to get two birds stoned at once!
thank you!
for a betta, it’s too small. i had one years ago and the filter broke within the first month of having it.
so for the whole time i’ve had him (since september 2021) he has had a staple diet of mealworms. he will occasionally get crickets. recently, he has gotten hornworms, maybe in the past six months or so. and he also has waxworms as a treat, but very very rarely. i have tried super worms and that is the only thing he does not like. i have a phobia of roaches but i am open to feeding him dubias. my question is, can i do the small ones or do they have to be big. my fear is that i would be unable to feed the big ones, as they completely freak me out. i hope this makes sense! but if anyone has any recommendations of anything to feed please let me know, i want him to have lots of variety!!!
Small are perfectly fine to feed, they don’t need to be a certain size.
okay! how many should i feed?
He’s a 3yo male, I wanna stick to food names! I currently have a hamster named Toast. I was thinking Lemon Pepper!
mango would fit too! he’s so cute!!
looks malnourished due to his tail being so skinny

it looks really good to me! the only thing is that i don’t see water anywhere

ohh makes sense. for my gecko, he never has gotten in his water and i think most don’t because they are not super fond of water in general.
I changed his habitat not so long ago since im trying to start a bioactive habitat(the 2 cactus are real, but safe for him), it has a day night light and heating cycles and everyting, butnsince i changed it like this he barely ever leaves his midle cave. I intend to give him bigger one in the future, but unfortunatelly that isnt an option right now
okay! also if you didn’t know they are actually doing a half off sale at petco for aquariums, and they do them all throughout the year. i wish you luck with your leo!!
This is so cute! Whered u get the house?
thank you! it’s from hobby lobby they have so many different fairy houses :)
I was gonna say that’s one of my favorite bits! Might have to check out hobby lobby and see if I can snag one of those too
omg thank you so much!

of course! that all sounds so great and i’m sure he will appreciate it. i just upgraded mine and he is so happy now and i wish you and him luck!
live plants** and the mixture is a substrate**
Give him proper substrate and not wood chips, basically anything that isn't those or sand is good
also don’t use reptile carpet or sand mats!
whats bad about sand mats?
the “sand” on them can easily come off and be ingested by the gecko. they also are very pricy so it would probably be better to just go with tile or a mix of soil and sand.
Isn't it fun when they're little and every single thing is scary ? 🙃
i miss it 😵💫😵💫
I actually use this exact lighting in my 40 gallon. It works wonderful. The 60w version was way too low - did almost nothing for my tank.
do you use a dimming thermostat?
he has gained 6 grams since december when i first posted about his weight, he is now 69 grams and over a year and a half old!!
Did you try the sauna method in Tupperware and then the qtip?
i haven’t. it has been over a week since he has shed so i thought it was too late to try it
Definitely not too late to try! A warm soak for 15m will help to get it loosened. Shed-ease in the bath can also help. omg thank you so much
where is it from?
weird question, but do you just let yours roam around your bed? i want to but i’m scared he would jump off and get hurt/lost
Yes i let them roam around, only thing i worry about is they go under my covers then i can’t find them bc they be sleep under it and don’t move so i have a mini panic episode trying to find them. I also have these big pillows they tend to climb on them to go close to my headboard and just lay there
okay! have they tried to jump off the bed?
Philips 429373 Halogen PAR38 90 Watt Equivalent Dimmable Flood Standard Base Light Bulb, 2 Pack
thank you so much!!

is there anyway you could link the exact halogen bulb? thank you so much!!
Thank you for the advice. I had thought they just needed a cool hide and a humid hide.
yeah of course!

great! maybe add some more hides as well :) your gecko is going to be so happy with the new tank size
looks so good! where did you get all of this cork wood? i would love some for my enclosure!
