It is for sure not a game for everyone. Kojima's story telling can weird some people out, and kinda understandable, but for me it was just a great game. And the story, besides some specific points, it was by far the most coherent from all his games and actually dramatically effective (as opposed to the melodrama in the MGS series).

I'm not sure what year it was, but mine is 2015 and it's definitely a touchscreen. The android auto / car play doesn't allow you to use it for whatever reason, so it is semi-useless if you use those. I think that may be changed in the new models.
