1. I don't know yet, but I'm going to miss this sub.

  2. I have a hot take - I think Subaru engines are shit. Therefore, this does not surprise me.

  3. I mean that's been well established.

  4. That won’t fix the supply problem.

  5. We have a supply problem because there are lots of people hoarding houses, or at least aspiring to. Half my parent's friends own multiple properties. This is the new Canadian dream - to own multiple properties.

  6. Yeah exactly, I feel like without the low center of gravity of the Subaru engines it won't be the same as before. Not to mention it might bring the Bonet higher up which means a bigger looking car in the end.

  7. There's been plenty swapped with K20 and 2JZ and LS and they fit under the hood just fine.

  8. Dealer markups are destroying highly anticipated cars. These cars went through cost-saving measures such as re-using old chassis to remain somewhat competitive with prices, just to blow all their saved costs to dealers.

  9. They're only doing markups while there's demand and people willing to pay it. When demand drops there won't be anymore markups. I don't think anyone is killing anything. In Canada you can't get this or GR86 without waiting for years.

  10. Recent I learnt from a friend working at a dealership group in Ontario, they have manual Supras sitting on lots now and he asked me if I still want one.

  11. Interesting. Hoping GR86s start sitting too because I've been waiting since December 2021 for a red premium manual and still hasn't come. At this point I'll tell the dealer I want to wait for a 2024 with performance package or a Trueno edition.

  12. Is this really from lack of interest or lack of availability?

  13. Availability. They're selling every one they produce.

  14. If it ends up being like EyeSight in every other automatic Subaru model, it can be turned off and will stay off. Only downside is the light that turns on when you turn the system off.

  15. When you say it stays off do you mean even when you turn the car off and on again? I do autocross often and it would be annoying to have to turn it off every run so it doesn't freak out when it sees a cone.

  16. Yes, once it's off, it is off. It's not like auto-stop start systems that default to being on every ignition cycle.

  17. Huh, I didn't realize that all the black Centuries have dual tone paint until seeing this car. Looks very neat all black.

  18. All the nice ones are in storage during winter. The ones that aren't... probably aren't nice

  19. MR2 all day long…unless… all-wheel celica?

  20. I see so many comments like this. Y'all need to drive both back to back. I don't think a single person will prefer a GT4 over turbo MR2 after that.

  21. Personally I love the MR2, but if you can get ahold of a gt4, you have to do it

  22. I have both, mr2 and gt4, so I was speaking from experience. GT4 is rare and "special" but as far as driving experience it's meh. MR2 on the other hand is the favorite car I've ever driven. Driving it feels special.

  23. Bumper, Headlights, interior trim, spoiler, suspension setup, rear sway bar mounting points. Might be missing some things...

  24. Chrome BRZ door handles vs black plastic GR86 door handles. Super important.

  25. My Limited BRZ has body color door handles, I've never seen chrome ones on any of the BRZs around here.

  26. It will be fine with winter tires, but they rust easily. If you plan on keeping it long term keep that in mind.

  27. When the 25 year legality hits, expect them to go up 30-40%. That's what happened to the R33 and the R34 is different. A lot of people in Japan refuse to sell theirs because it's like a family heirloom for them. And Nissan produced much less R34 GT-R's compared to R33/R32.

  28. The price increase of R34s has long been anticipated, and dealers and collectors have been buying them up over the years and storing them. I think the "price increase once legal" has been priced in long ago. The few that are already USA legal have been going for huge money, but I don't think the rest of them will be fetching as much once they're all legal. Who knows though, last few years showed me that anything is possible.

  29. All my cars are red except Celica GT4, which I couldn't find in red. So, yeah

  30. How would Ford sell new cars better if value of 3 year old ones drops? Wouldn't it be the opposite

  31. I would say find one somewhere and see if you could do a test drive. Everyone thinks they want a smaller sport car, but they are not as comfortable to live with. Maybe even drive a first gen to get an idea of it.

  32. Toyota chassis code usually starts with engine code, so second gen is called W20 but it has a 3S engine so it's an SW20. The W30 has 1ZZ engine so it's ZZ30. And you guessed it, first gen has 4A engine so...

  33. Which one? The Italian Miata, the American Miata, the coupe Miata or the FWD coupe Miata?

  34. Have these on my GT4. Love the design

  35. go up way to fucking much to the point where it will accelerate my depression even further. Though five years from now I think the JDM market will cool down. But seriously 30 grand for a GTST with an auto? This is why we need to tax the rich.

  36. The thing is a lot of people are financing JDM cars. It's not the rich driving auto GTST lol.

  37. R34 and Evo 6 are the last desirable JDM cars I can think of that were never sold in North America. After those the only thing I can think of is GR Yaris, in like 22-23 years. Sure there's other Evos and STIs and Nissan Zs and 86s, but we got all those here.

  38. I'm a huge Toyota nerd and for 65k I'd buy a new M2 over the GR Corolla

  39. I agree it's overpriced and I too would rather have an M2, but the M2 is a completely different kind of car. Coupe vs 5 door hatch, RWD vs AWD. For those who want a performance AWD car with 4/5 doors there isn't much other choice. If you have a family and want a car to drive in any weather and go on winter adventures, but also do track and autocross in the summer then you get GRC or WRX or Golf R. If you don't need 4/5 doors or AWD then yeah M2 would be a better pick. But then I'd rather have GR86 for much less money. All have different intended purpose though.

  40. It boosts octane, yes, but if you have same octane rating between 2 fuels and 1 has ethanol and other doesn't then you're better off using the one without. Using top tier gas is "good" for your car because of the detergents they add, but ethanol itself isn't "good" for your car. I'm not arguing against the performance benefits, just lost mpg. For old cars though it could be corrosive.

  41. Ethanol does also have the benefit of evaporative cooling both via a higher enthalpy of vaporisation and via the fact more fuel is injected for air/fuel (stoich). So you can get performance benefits from ethanol blends even when equal octane to non-ethanol fuels.

  42. What is the practical benefit of that for an average stock modern car?

  43. I ordered the replacement red Subaru BRZ mirror caps from my local Subaru dealership for $35 each. The BRZ comes with the matched mirrors for all colors and every color expect the neptune blue for the GR86 and the WR blue pearl on the BRZ is the same between the two models.

  44. Are they really the same shade between Toyota and Subaru? That's amazing, I'm going to order red caps as soon as my GR86 comes

  45. Yes! Visually it looks spot on and from what I've read I'm pretty sure the colors between the cars are exactly the same minus those two brand exclusive blue colors. The Halo white/Crystal white pearl has a lot of batch variation from what I've read but my red mirrors are spot on.

  46. Awesome, thanks! I was planning on getting mine painted but this makes way more sense.

  47. Correct. 2 year waits on Highlander hybrids , 3 years on sequoia , 1 year wait on Tundras , hell 8-12 month for a Camry gas

  48. GR86 two years , we’re only getting two this year . Venza 1.5 years.

  49. That's unfortunate. Are there a lot of orders for GR86?
