1. Are all those QBs really worth top 12 picks?

  2. First off the hotspot should be around 82-84F during the day, and 60s F at night. That for sure won't make him feel too good over 2 weeks.

  3. I use the exact same lights as before. Only know UVB is a zoomed 5.0. Temperature is good it just a typo

  4. Is it a T8 or a T5 Zoomed? Is it in the same position it was before, or was it raised previously and you laid it on top?

  5. Those autofeeders tend not to do well with live food.

  6. I am 6 weeks home 6 weeks off. Shitty job.. I mean it's doable what you are saying but if i manage to do it automatically then i will have no worries convincing my wife to get a chameleon. Is it really necessary to shake the container while dusting or is it ok only to sprinkle over the bugs?

  7. Sprinkling for half the time is better than nothing. Doesn't even need to be a lot, just a barely noticeable coating.

  8. I've switched to a deep heat projector for heat, and a 2-tube flourescent fixture for a UVB and a regular flourescent tube. The ceramics tend to die on my too quickly, and frosted incandescents are being a pain in the ass for me to find in California. Flourescents are still readily available for now.

  9. I've had chams that took to people in a matter of days, and I have an adult cham who I hatched myself who still doesn't like people. Kind of like other pets, each has their own personalities. There are things you can try and hope it works out over time, but it could be anywhere from days to never. Typically, it'll take a couple months for a cham to get completely comfortable with other humans, though.

  10. Just want to add, I'm watching my grandmother die of stage 4 cancer and my father is a childhood cancer survivor that left him severely disabled.

  11. Not sure why you're lumping mods in with flip. We tried our best to get flip to see the affect his words have on everyone and apologise. He refuses. What we have done is have reddit admins strip flip of all abilities and give full control to us. We will continue to try to include flip in discussions so he can see what he has done. Us mods are just as pissed off as you are at him, and think all of the abuse he has doled out over the past several years is unconscionable. I quit the sub years ago because of it, and have only come back to assist in flip's removal.

  12. The fact that he refuses to apologize, and yet you guys continue to allow him as a mod (and yes, access to mod mail IS still being a mod), is NOT a good look.

  13. I don't entirely disagree with your statement. The sheer fact is flip knows a lot about chameleons. He will not have a say in banning/deletions/removals of any kind, but we can still use him as a tool that will be filtered through the mods. The only reason why we keep his access to modmail is because it is all recorded and cannot be erased (basically a paper trail if he is an asshole again) and we continue to hold out hope that with this kick in the balls he will get his shit together.

  14. Can the lay bin take up a lot of the bottom of the enclosure or should there still be some of the bottom left for her?

  15. She won't care about the bottom most of the time anyway. If she wants to walk around for whatever reason, the laybin will be fine.

  16. Do you think I can wait till Friday to get the laybin or do you think it’s more urgent

  17. Can you post some pics of the enclosure? We might be able to identify some problematic perches or pokey things that may have contributed to the issue.

  18. That T5 HO is too close, pick it up like a foot. What kind of bulb are you using for heat? Typically when they're on the floor like this they're running away from the lights, and stop eating/drinking because they feel bad/can't see what they're drinking/eating. Are his eyes open normally, or does it look like he's wincing?

  19. I can’t find the box the heating bulb came in but it’s the same one our local chameleon store uses, and he has been going back and forth between having his eyes open or closed

  20. I'm guessing the combination of the UVB lamp too close and a super intense basking bulb with a deep dome instead of a wider dome just burned his eyeballs. Turn off the basking bulb and switch it out with a deep heat projector, get a wider, shallower dome, and pick up the UVB lamp by a foot. In the meantime, get him some natural sunlight as much as possible, and see if he recovers after several days.

  21. What kind of basking light and what kind of LED lights do you have? If it's one of those UVA/UVB basking lights, it's too much for his eyes, and if they're crappy LED lights they will appear to flicker to their eyes and irritate the crap out of them.

  22. It's just a regular 75w bulb (Thrive essential basking spot bulb). It's on for 40 minutes in the morning.

  23. That Thrive bulb is for bearded dragons. For heat I generally use a deep heat projector (75W should be enough), and I wouldn't trust the LED bar if you don't know anything else about it. Turn both the basking bulb and LED bar off for a while. Switch out the Thrive bulb for the deep heat projector, and see if he recovers after like a week.

  24. You want a linear UVB fluorescent light. If you're using a mercury vapor UVB bulb it will burn him, if you're using a compact fluorescent it won't be enough UVB. A linear lamp across the entire width is good. Arcadia Forest 6% should be ok. T8 can lay on the top of the enclosure, T5 will have to be lifted off the top a few inches.

  25. Of course, they don't want it dominating their sub, so they will silence anyone discussing it

  26. Please, not "they." Other mods can't get through to flip and walked away. It's just flip doing what flip does for this entire time. All mods have tried to stop him.

  27. Flip can be rude but I’ve never seen him so off his rocker before. He trippin or something?

  28. No. He really is this much of a dick.

  29. Has he always been like this? Getting frustrated at the state of the pet trade and how chameleons are mistreated by ill-informed advice is one thing, but doing the internet equivalent of flipping tables over someone just trying to ask questions and learn more about the species is nuts. This is an extremely unhealthy amount of anger and power-tripping, like almost scary.

  30. The things he has said about other users behind the scenes is fucking wild. He deserves all this.

  31. Are you certain this is him because we need justice to be served from this

  32. I can absolutely 100% confirm it's all him. The other mods have had their mod access neutered so they can't do anything.

  33. He’s running scared because he knows this is the end

  34. No, this isn't the first time we tried talking to him about his behavior. I went off on him pretty hard last time I spoke to him. His banning everyone, deleting posts, and ignoring everything is his general method.

  35. He would be why I quit being a mod a long time ago.

  36. I have a couple shallow planters where I grow a "wild Mediterranean mix" of grasses and clovers. Mine are small enough I just put them in the enclosure, and she'll climb up a ramp to graze. If you get a big enough planter, you can just drop him in there for a bit.

  37. For a moss wall, use polyurethane foam. Search "aquascaping foam" for some brands, but anything polyurethane should be safe if you air it out long enough. You can then use sculpting blades to shape it, acrylic paint to paint it, and some aquascaping glue to stick stuff to it. You can embed rocks and stuff, but you don't need to build an entire wall of rock. But then the more rock you use, the less you have to paint.

  38. Tortoises drink more than we tend to believe. When I got my first tortoise, I was told she only drinks once per week, like in nature during dry seasons. Luckily I knew better and give her free access. Given the freedom, any organism will prefer access to water over drinking once per week like they might sometimes be forced to in nature.

  39. That last sentence...haunting.

  40. The best gut load is natural food, like non-citrus fruits and veg. They love organic Cheerios. I just feed them vegetable scraps from cooking. The water crystals are ok, but a large bottle cap with a sopping wet natural sponge is better. Don't worry about whether they're eating enough. They're roaches, they will eat just fine at night.

  41. Has tail, not chubby, sounds about right

  42. That's a placeholder image they use for less common stuff. I ran the aquatic section at a petco that let me order all kinds of weird shit I had to make labels for.

  43. That's a joke comment I made. It makes fun of the fact that Petco sells live animals but don't really train their employees to take proper care of the animals.

  44. It's how scientists estimate the temperature of our Sun, and stars. The amount of energy (for stars, mostly luminance) emitted is related to both the star's temperature, and how far away it is. Two stars are almost the same distance away, but one is a lot brighter, means it's a lot hotter.

  45. I have a Hermann's, but I have a couple flat planters that I grow "mediterranean broadleaf tortoise garden" seeds in. It's a mix of clovers, grasses, etc. Once one grows nice and lush, I put the whole thing in his enclosure and he mows it down in a day. Redfoots eat a slightly different diet, but the idea is the same, just grow up some garden plants and weeds in a couple rotating planters. You can buy seeds from the hardware store.

  46. I remember Neil Little doing the superman in a brawl a few months before this,
