1. Firstly, I hope that your little is guy alright, and that you are managing as well.

  2. Thanks for replying! Yeah, for the Castle Embereths (CEs) I've found that getting more than one in an opening hand is a real drag, so I thinned down to one. Personally, I feel like the effect from a CE should be thought of as a back-up plan for turns 4+ only since 4 mana is pretty expensive for a whack effect.

  3. Kuldatha, I've play test against a friend as soon as turn 4, goldfish turn 4 as well. The same 8-whack got me 3-2 at my fnm 2 weeks ago, a few turn 4's and mock plays it can win turn 3 through multiple methods.

  4. Thanks, these are great insights! And I didn't even realize it was my cake day. Neato mosquito.

  5. I set up Nextcloud a little less than a year ago and I absolutely love it! I'm completely off of OneDrive now. I'll modify or create new documents on my tablet when I'm at school (away from Nextcloud on my home network) and everything automatically syncs once my tablet is back on my home network. I use a 2TB drive on my server to store my Nextcloud files and I mirror it on my desktop and laptop. For my tablet, I only mirror the folders related to school.

  6. Data Science in Carson's (the program founder himself) word is for people interested in all three disciplines of Computer Science, Mathematics and Statistics so know that. Also, you should probably know beforehand a lot of ML is indeed math (calculus and linear algebra, specifically) and statistics. Actually sitting down to *study* AI/ML may not be what you think it is.

  7. Hey, I'm not the OP but I wanted to tell you that your response is thoughtful, informative, and extremely well laid out. Many people would find this useful.

  8. Not necessarily for the OP, but I have a question that's only tangentially related to the post. Reddit shows four comments, but I can't see any of them. Why is that?

  9. Shadow banned people. New accounts, not enough karma points, etc

  10. I got into grad school with 3.01. Youll be fine.

  11. Canada is a country where on monday, canadians will demand "the government should just pay them more!!" As the "obvious" solution to the doctor shortage. Just pay them more, easy peasy, you stupid government.

  12. Very nicely done! When most people think of the term life expectancy they probably mean "at what age can a person expect to die from old age?" When we consider the "average remaining years expected prior to death for a person aged 20" wouldn't all of the things not related to old age skew the results lower? I think it would be interesting to see "median remaining years expected prior to death for a person aged 60". I think the median would be a better indicator of what most people could actually expect since it's much more robust against outliers than the arithmetic mean, and when we bump the baseline year up to 60 (or whatever age seems appropriate), we would probably eliminate the effects of post-partum deaths, accidental deaths, deaths related to war, etc.. Ooh! Then we could do a test for trend (Cox-Stuart/Mann-Kendall) on the median and get a p-value for it!

  13. Thank you very much for your kind comment! Very interesting suggestions! I am not sure if using the mean here is actually a big issue since the outliers we can get are not very extreme. It is not like with income for example. Here there is a biological limit, so usually, the median and mean are very close to each other. But yes, maybe life tables should still switch to using the median! I can check it uses the mean, I actually don't know! There is another measure that is sometimes used, which is the Modal age at death, which is also quite insightful. I love the idea for testing for trends a well! Sometimes, I wish I had gotten more into mathematical demography. Thank you again for your comment!

  14. Yes, there certainly are upper limits to any outliers in age, my main (constructive) criticism with the mean would be that it skews lower for all of the women who died at age 21. Granted, when you increase the baseline age the differences are likely to be much smaller between the mean and the median. I also agree that the modal age at death would be more in line with the imprecise concept of life expectancy (as understood in a common language meaning).

  15. As someone who just finished a degree in their late 30s I would recommend that you not start from scratch. Pick something that is at least partially related to your previous experience, that way you can leverage your past experience into your salary.

  16. I just finished a degree in my late 30s and start a position in May. How was the job hunt for you? It wasn't easy for me. The job market is bad overall and I'm sure my age held me back quite a bit.

  17. When I applied to jobs that used only my education and none of my experience I didn't get a single response. The first job that I applied to that used both my education and my experience got back to me very quickly with an excellent offer and I start in June. I don't think age is as big a problem for thirty-somethings as it would be for people ten to fifteen years older than us, but you may be right.

  18. There's no rule saying a guy can't have a couple of drinks before heading out for a run.

  19. New university Grad, data analyst, 92k + bonus, 0 years direct experience, 13 years experience in an adjacent industry.

  20. Pretty good! would you say 13 years of related experience was a big factor in getting this sweet package?

  21. Yes, a more detailed workflow would be appreciated. Thank you.

  22. Okay, so the first thing to do is determine what type of work needs to be done prior to actually doing the upscaling. Depending on your DVD, you may need to deal with interlacing(film)/telecining(tv). Yes, Topaz can handle de-interlacing, but I'm not a huge fan of the Dione model and I prefer to de-interlace using the program Hybrid, which you can find

  23. Each term the parking sucks until the end of the revision period, then it goes from awful to just bad. Parking is fine after the VW date, by then all the people who dropped are gone and the parking lots open up.

  24. This is a stupid question of the week but since its 4/20 tomorrow (lol) what is your favourite thing to do while high/inebriated or hell even just unwinding for the day?

  25. Playing Magic the Gathering is pretty kick ass after just getting a little high.

  26. Just coming off a long vaycay, probably my last for a bit and I wished I felt more recharged but I'm happy because I was able to get into a routine with excercise finally. Hopin' to keep it goin!

  27. Dude, good for you! I'm about 2 weeks away from finishing my degree and there's nothing I want more than to get back into shape. Sitting around on my butt studying for the last 4.5 years has really taken its toll on my body. Sure, I'm excited to finish my degree, and I'm excited to start my new job, but what I'm really looking forward to is the 6 weeks in between where I can finally establish a routine again.

  28. How can you orgasm eating someone else's ass?

  29. Are you using a dynamic bitrate? If it's set to high it can very easily give you huge files.

  30. hmmm yeah it is but I've never touched those settings. Could they have been changed because of the update?

  31. No idea, but I usually avoid dynamic bitrates for this very reason. There's no reason for a DVD source movie to be 25Gb when it's upscaled to 720p, unless I'm exporting to Pro Res.

  32. My son is 6 and is getting into more complicated books - Tintins. So there’s pictur a of course but the stories are complex. We read them over several days!

  33. Oh wow, I totally forgot that I bought a bunch of Tintins when my son was born so I could read them with him when he got older. I'm gonna go dig them out of storage now that he's 7, thanks for the reminder!

  34. My boy is seven and is going wild for Redwall by Brian Jacques. He struggles with the slower world-building chapters, but absolutely loves the action chapters. We'll probably do Harry Potter next, and then maybe the Hobbit.

  35. yeah, i think the course catalogue entry for 2150 says it’s intended for math heavy degrees. i asked a few cs profs and they said the math for cs-math joint is meant to complement the cs, so i figured 2150 would complement my degree since it’s in that degree plan

  36. But you haven't taken MATH 2080, correct? With respect to difficulty, that class is probably worse for a 2000 level math class than MATH 1240 is for a 1000 level math class.

  37. I don't agree with that (difficulty) statement... mostly because the hardest 2xxx math class is pretty well known to be 2180.

  38. Yes, you're definitely right that 2180 is harder than 2080. What I meant was that the stream of analysis is more difficult than the other topics in 2000 level mathematics like combinatorics/graph theory, linear algebra 2, calculus 3, etc., not that it was necessarily the hardest.

  39. STAT 1150 will be the easiest. Then it's a three-way tie between MATH 1300, MATH 1500, and COMP 1020. In all cases MATH 1240 will be the hardest.

  40. To be fair, in my house, ass eating only happens after my wife has had a shower... I don't want her unclean when she's eating my ass.

  41. Ass eating in my house also only happens after his wife has had a shower first

  42. The original Nintendo era. So FF1 through FF6 (3). I'm actually replaying FF1 right now! I try to do it once a year.

  43. I can't speak for engineering, but there are quite a few older students at the UofM. I'm graduating this spring and I just turned 39. In the last 4.5 years I've made a number of acquaintances and probably one or two good friends that I'll keep in touch with afterwards, one of which is 15 years younger than me. I can assure you that you will fit in very well.
