1. Take Taleb with a grain of salt. Remember that he is writing from the perspective of an older gentleman, with a net worth north of 100 million USD.

  2. Is there any evidence he has a "net worth north of 100 million USD"? He makes a lot money from his airport self-help books, but does he really have any other ability.

  3. All anyone knows for sure is that he made about 35 million off of black Monday in 1987. Other than that it’s a guess.

  4. Jesus Christ that word has lost all meaning. Go outside, take a deep breath. The Nazis in your walls are not real.

  5. You do realize that fewer people want to be associated with Israel for the reason you think of. I am not familiar with this particular situation but I bet you I would be doing the same damage control if this was me.

  6. I know some Facebook groups have discussed voting, however, it’s important to publicize voting for Eden as much as possible.

  7. You're allowed to vote 20 times each from each number. But it costs some money.

  8. You're allowed to vote 20 times from each number but the cost varies depending on your location.

  9. Yes Ergodicity is a mathematical concept. In a system with many interacting parts, like an economy for example;

  10. None of what you wrote has any relation to the concept of ergodicity in math or physics. This shows when a fraud with no mathematical training or skills like Taleb who doesn't understand the math, uses mathematical sounding words to describe self-help concepts which might be interesting in their own right but which don't need the fancy misapplied term.

  11. Exercise, Food & Health Come down to two Talebian concepts ergodicity & Iatrogenics.

  12. I didn't know Taleb criticized Harari, but I'm not surprised. Harari is a texbook pseudo-intellectual dilettante.

  13. If it wasn't going to lead to disaster in the future, looking at the pink hair pro-Hamas anti-Semites taking over the college campuses would be almost comic.

  14. After they saw Israel's song was popular the anti-Semites are panicking on the anti-Semitic

  15. Idk what's better, this or the group whining about "humanitarian aid" not being brought to them in the building that they themselves refuse to leave. Same group that got cupcakes sent to them.

  16. "Freedom fighters" for Hamas, who like to recite Bin Laden's "Letter to the American People" over TikTok. But get angry when cupcakes aren't delivered to their safe-space.

  17. The college protesters need to hear this, on repeat over a loudspeaker if necessary.

  18. College professors have some of the most privileged lives in the West, yet they dedicate their whole lives to hatred, not only of Jews, but they hate the West itself and carefully indoctrinate their students with anti-Western propaganda. They actively choose to hate and work against the West despite enjoying all its privileges, they won't suddenly change their minds listening to someone who supports and appreciates Western values like Schwarzenegger. Many of them supported Mao and Pol Pot last century.

  19. If they hate the west so much, why do they stay in it. Sounds like they benefit from western ideas but yet want to destroy it? It’s such an oxymoron to me. Orwellian times…

  20. When the international left supported Stalin during the 1930s and 1940s most of them were not stupid enough to actually move to the Soviet Union. Some of their naive students did though. College professors are cowards who enjoy the safety of the West while hating on it. The professors hate Jews because it's the easiest victim and they won't pay any penalty for it.

  21. A dogwhistle towards what? A lot of "progressives" on the far-left are attracted to the world's most anti-progressive, primitive far-right cultures. How do you explain that? Yes it's horseshoe theory but you would need to be Sigmund Freud to explain what their thought-process is.

  22. The number of people in my carefully curated social media feeds mentioning Gaza in their Holocaust remembrance posts is beyond depressing, I am going to have to block a whole new slew of people.

  23. Call them out as the anti-Semites they are before you block them.

  24. Events like the Pulitzer prizes are just a circle of the same anti-Semitic "journalists" otherwise known as propaganda writers giving each other prizes for who can do the most creative lies and embellishments, who can fool the most people to push their anti-Western propaganda agenda.

  25. Well, I'm a proud Jew who is also proudly anti-Zionist, so the first one can be true

  26. I've removed the back and forth from this comment, because it is not civil and unbecoming of our sub.

  27. We recently saw One Love and Rita Marley wore a big star of David. And he was inspired by the movie Exodus to make his album of that title.

  28. I don’t think that’s it really. I actually think if you speak to people who are antisemitic you realise they know very very little about Jewish religion and culture - including this.

  29. Anti-Semitism is the traditional "theory of everything" for many cultures like the Middle Eastern cultures. They like to scapegoat Jews to explain everything that goes wrong in those countries.

  30. The extremity and irrationality of anti-Semitism has been difficult to explain for historians and social scientists. There has been a temptation for some of the more religiously minded scholars of anti-Semitism to gravitate towards supernatural explanations for it.

  31. Just graduated from college in the UK. Doesn’t seem as bad here as it as in the US, but a closer look at these protests reveals much of the weight behind these demonstrations seems to be the typical teenage American yearning for a “counter culture” in my opinion, as opposed to a deep-seated hatred of Jews. Not that that excuses it, either. Just see the types of graffiti from the nonsense at UCLA (see entire thread below). These are young adults trying to find their sense of purpose. They’re often bound by hatred, and sadly we fall victim:

  32. Just look on Discord and TikTok. It's pure anti-Semitism. Holocaust denial and pro-Palestinian memes go hand in hand for this generation.

  33. I feel that. I lean left. Go abortion go gay go public school funding. But these people are causing me to lose my mind.

  34. It's always been like that. In the 20th century the campus left was supporting Pol Pot, Mao, Fidel Castro, Stalin. On the right, Nazism was also most successful as a student movement in the 1920s on the college campuses of the most educated country in the world at the time.

  35. He might not want to out himself, which I get.

  36. As an apologist for anti-Semitism/anti-Semites if his posts are any indication.

  37. Hmmm just looked at his profile and saw he was identifying as a Christian a few years ago. Interesting.

  38. I'd really like to know, too. I'm hoping it's Bibi's idea that will end when he leaves. I'm pro-Israel, but that's a national embarrassment.

  39. Azeri Jews are one of the large communities in Israel. There's around 150,000 who immigrated to Israel in the 1990s from Azerbaijan. The remaining Jews in Azerbaijan are one of the important communities there.

  40. Brandeis was created in part to avoid the anti-Semitism of the Ivy League colleges that was long ago it's not been immune to the current anti-Semitism anymore just less anti-Semitic than the Ivy League.
