1. Passover starts Monday, maybe he’s trying to save you from the Angel of Death?

  2. Not sure if this helps, but here's a Timelapse of the eclipse I did on my iPhone, where I used exposure lock. Locked on exposure when it was light, which allowed it to go dark at totality. I've seen other eclipse timelapses on iPhones where the exposure was not locked, and it does not get very dark at totality, because the phone is auto adjusting the exposure to keep everything bright.

  3. Had you ever photographed an eclipse before? How much prep work did you do in advance?

  4. No, I had never ever seen a (total) eclipse before. I did a decent amount of research and bought a solar ND filter (which in the end, I didn't even really need because I didn't need it during totality and that's when I got my nice shots. I got to Tupper the day before and drove around during the time of the eclipse (one day earlier) to scout a nice spot and was lucky enough to find this. I had two cameras (one for wide and one for close up) and two tripods with me as well as my iPhone (which I used for the Timelapse). I also had downloaded an app that synched to your location and verbally told you when totality was starting and it was safe to take off your filters, etc.

  5. I'm going to do a little investigating and see if I can find a good option for a site that will sell, print, and ship prints for me. I'll let you know

  6. After this week, when I first glanced at this, I was sure it was an eclipse photo

  7. What’s up with Amazon’s shipping lately? I’m a Prime member paying for consistently late (by a full week) deliveries. We need more competition in this space.

  8. Yeah. They are horrible. Why am I paying for a service they don't offer 70% of the time?

  9. It seems like maybe you can get it from Instacart, and it seems like Instacart is getting it from.....Superking? You might want to try them:

  10. I'm an idiot. I was CERTAIN I had damaged mine. Took a few shots after the eclipse and the colors were nuclear and the contrast was intense. I was devastated.

  11. I get all that. I guess my question is regarding the "zooming in on the sun" part. "Zooming in" how far, exactly?

  12. You’re safe at totality aiming at sun. Your lens will project a circle about 1mm across for every 100mm of focal length. I used a 600mm once and it was plenty long because the coronavirus extends well beyond the moon disk. I’m using 400mm on a full frame Monday because that’s what I happen to own.

  13. It’s going to get crazy around here Monday

  14. I'm flying into Albany from the west coast. Driving up to Tupper on Sunday and back on Tuesday. I was fully expecting it to be a bust after spending all that time and money traveling. Trying to not get my hopes up, but I'm feeling better about it all.

  15. Sooo when do you think the heaviest traffic will be on those two days? I’m traveling the same but coming from Syracuse heading around tupper lake. I’m wondering what percentage of people are Monday only travelers vs Sunday Tuesday.., and when people might be doing the majority of travel Sunday and Tuesday

  16. It's honestly a giant mystery and I have no idea what to expect. I have family in Saratoga, so originally my plan was to drive from there to Tupper the day before and stay there Sunday night to make sure I was there for the eclipse and not get stuck in traffic Monday morning, and then drive back to Saratoga right after the eclipse was finished. But then I started thinking that it was likely that everyone would be leaving at the same time, and ended up paying a ton of money to get a hotel room in Tupper Monday night as well.

  17. Yes still a thing…still made in a garage on walnut st

  18. Excellent. I always thought they should make pizzas in that oven later in the day.
