1. I've beaten deity a couple times to prove I could, but king or emperor are what I usually play. I don't feel the need to min-max that way, and I can experiment with playing civs in unconventional ways.

  2. Regarding the barbarians, you get the same amount of Barbarian spawns on any difficulty. But as the AI starts with more units on harder difficulties, they'll end up killing Barbarain camps a lot faster. While on lower difficulties barbarian camps don't get taken out nearly as quickly, giving them more oportunity to spot you and spawn units.

  3. But isn't this still VERY risky? Varys couldn't have known that Tywin would be gone while Tyrion talked to Shae, or that Shae wouldn't interrupt the Father-Son -time, or a thousand other reasons for interruptions by whoever.

  4. He knows Tyrion is quite cunning, so he probably figured Tyrion had a pretty good chance of succeeding.

  5. The impression we get from the books is that Jon Arryn is dutiful and loyal and capable, but also quite old and weary by the time he is murdered. So he might well have let some things slip.

  6. According to Robert it was Jon who talked him out of killing Viserys and Dany before, so he'd probably continue to do so.

  7. I don't understand this mechanic. Every CIV should be able to found a religion.

  8. Yeah, it doesn't make much sense to limit the number of religions. You still need to invest in your religion to prevent it from being eliminated, so they might as well let everyone found one if they want.

  9. Well its a legitimate concern considering that the last time you saw her the real Shiala was blue, while the evil clones that were trying to murder you were green.

  10. She's surely a mystery and there's no consensus among the readers, and it's pretty clear George meant her to be a mystery.

  11. Honestly Barristan's thoughts about Ashara are kind of creepy considering that he's 30 years older than her.

  12. I'v always wished that Shiala could have been a squadmate. I'd even be willing to trade Liara for her to be honest.

  13. Did she cut her off or was she being more cautious because she wasn’t sure what Sansa’s position was anymore? Shortly after Sansa’s marriage was Joff’s murder and Sansa was gone. I always read it as Margarey being unsure of what chess pieces had been moved rather than her shutting her completely out.

  14. Sansa did unintentionally sabotage the planned marriage with Willas by telling Dontos about it, so Margaery would have had good reason to be cautious around Sansa from that point if she (rightfully) suspected that Sansa was the one who leaked that information.

  15. Maybe acting like Sansa's friend to try and get her to marry Willas only to turn around and completely ignore her after that plot fell through. Sansa was just a child who was being held prisoner by the Lannisters and had zero choice over being forced to marry Tyrion. It would have cost Margaery nothing to continue to at least act friendly to Sansa.

  16. Do you mean it won't work because it's on a lake? And it looks like the harbor is adjacent to the city

  17. Great Admirals can spawn on Harbors, but they can only teleport from city centers. So if you have a lake with a harbor in it, but no city centers next to it then its possible for great admirals to become stuck there.

  18. I think Tywin may well have genuinely believed that Tyrion did it. While Cersei may have been trying to rig the trial against him, there was still quite a lot of legitimate evidence against him.

  19. Have you ever seen the YouTube video? How Star wars was saved in the edit?

  20. Lucas did have control of the final edit. He oversaw the editing proccess.

  21. They do have bodycams. Like 5 minutes in to the first game we see bodycam footage of Sovereign attacking Eden Prime.

  22. Then what about Nihlus's bodycam footage. That would immediately show that Saren was there. The Council can have it where only certain people can see other Spectre's bodycam footage. And a log in the servers of who accessed who's files to see if Saren deleted or modified anything after he, supposedly, got access.

  23. Well if Nihlus was wearing a bodycam, and if he was recording when he met Saren, then I would assume Saren probably dealt with it after he killed Nihlus.

  24. Interesting thing to note here: Alyssanne was originally meant to be Maegor's daughter in the appendix for AGOT. George later retconned it in the world book

  25. I’ve been intrigued by the possibility of a spin-off about this so I’m not saying this to specifically knock this idea, but in general I think something the fandom needs to keep in mind for spin-offs is this: GRRM’s worldbuilding is broad, but I don’t think it’s very deep, especially for basically any historical stuff before Aegon’s Conquest.

  26. Yeah, its a cool sounding premise, but that's really all there is to it. I doubt GRRM could offer the showrunners anything more than a brief plot synopsis. The writers would basically have to figure everything out themselves (writing all the dialogue, fleshing out the characters, figuring out the actual plot beats and narative structure, etc). It would basically end up being a completely original story created by an entierly different writing team, just with the ASOIAF name slapped on. And its rather unlikely they'd come up with something as good as George's writing.

  27. That's an almost universal idea, very prevalent in Graeco-Roman + later European myth + history, GRRM didn't invent it. Not to suggest you necessarily think he did, but it warrants pointing out, as many people do seem to think GRRM invented the proverbial wheel.

  28. Yeah, ironic twists on prophecies is a very common trope that's existed pretty much forever. It was also done it Macbeth and Oedipus Rex to name a just a couple examples.

  29. Bruh she supported the only king out of five with 0 claim to kingship. Lawful?

  30. Technically Renly was Brienne's liege lord. House Tarth are are a Stormlands house, and Renly was lord paramount of the Stormlands. So the Tarth's were sworn to Renly and thus obligated to support him.

  31. Yeah pretty much one of my favorite scenes. The knowledge that she has understood every word, the arrogance of the masters, and the smell of a nice BBQ really comes together in a way that's just bloody crispy gorgeous.

  32. This scene actually worked better in the show than in the books too IMO.

  33. Eiffel Tower will give all the tiles in your empire a baseline appeal of charming. There are a couple of Great Engineers that will boost the appeal of all tiles in a specific city too.

  34. We see Barristan's entry in Jaime's pov and while he has some impressive feats, it doesn't seem exceptionally long.

  35. There's not much reason for Coldhands to hide it from Bran if he was Benjen too.

  36. And it’s obviously possible that he’s lying, but that would seem like an odd thing to lie so emphatically about and then release the book and go “JK lol it is him”

  37. Even disregarding the coment to his editor, it still seems unlikely he's Benjen anyway.

  38. The biggest strength of Inca is the terrace farm. It gives 1 food and 1 housing by default, plus a production if built next to fresh water, and an additional food for each adjacent mountain. And its available right from the start of the game when farms will only be giving 1 food and 0.5 housing and mines will only give 1 production. So, the terrace farm is basically a mine and a farm in 1, and then some. If you manage to build a terrace farm on plains hills tile next to a river and two mountains this will give you a 4 food 3 production tile to work. Not even spices are that good.

  39. If you ask me, you don't really need flight to conquer someone across an ocean. You can also use your navy to escort land units, so it helps to get some harbours in for the great lighthouse and great admirals to boost movement and summon in some ships.

  40. If you're playing Hungary you don't even need to send any of your units across the ocean at all, as you can just levy some city states on another continent and use their units.

  41. The Rachni Wars lasted centuries, I'm sure the Council provided them with a pretty substantial fleet of their own to press the rachni.

  42. There were also hundreds of years between the end of the Rachni wars and the start of the Krogan Rebellions. The Krogan do have scientists and engineers of their own and could have easily built up their own fleet in that time.

  43. Yeah, I’m not clear on the Krogan historical timeline. I was thinking the nuking came post-uplift, but I have almost zero confidence that I can make sense of BioWare’s sense of time

  44. The Krogan were an advanced race about on par with 20th century earth, then they reduced their planet to an apocalyptic wasteland though nuclear war, regressing their technology and leaving the surviving Krogan as a bunch of warring tribes.

  45. Maya can be really good if you got a nice space to yourself but if you're sandwiched by close neighbors and/or the sea then just nope. If it didn't have the -15% penalty when outside the ring then it would have been an okay Civ.

  46. They're also very reliant on plantation recource spawns to get the most use out of their UD. If you're unlucky with recource placement then the Observatory can end up being straight up worse than the regular campus.
