1. If you have no idea if she is single or if she likes you then don't.

  2. I fully intend to keep him on my insurance. I work and support my child, I don't need the government to do it for me. My concern is more that the child support agency or Medicaid will decide that I owe them money since she is getting support for him.

  3. Give them a call. I received a letter that the state was going to file child support against me but when I called, it was just medical support because of the medicaid. Basically I had to continue to provide my insurance as the primary insurance and medicaid could only be used as a secondary. They asked me for proof of their primary coverage and that was that.

  4. You should have asked her to sign custody over to you when she gave him to you. Now you should ask or file in court if she declines. It would make filing for child support easier.

  5. Does having primary legal custody affect alimony payments though? Child support and alimony are separate

  6. No, I was thinking he should file for child support and get some of that money back.

  7. I tried dating. I didn't have the extra energy after taking care of 4 kids full time to keep up with it. I'm staying single for now.

  8. I just got my property division and custody finalized one year later after her sudden affair and 9 months after the divorce decree. I'm glad to be able to move on but I still have to pay off the split and coparent with her which is not easy because she is still in hypomania and manic often even though she is medicated. At least she has been more open with me lately, though, when she is manic and I will keep the kids. I can never plan any trips away on her time with the kids because it hasn't been reliable enough, and she has canceled often. She still tries to be friends with me, too, but I set boundaries on that and only respond about the kids.

  9. If a loved one calls looking for them, give them the info they need so they can help out. I know usually this isn't done, but maybe make an exception for erratic illogical behavior?

  10. Ended in divorce and me being the primary parent of 4 kids by myself.

  11. YMCA. They play/socialize in the kid zone while I work out.

  12. I feel like there is something you aren't telling us because that is a huge change to force the kid to move several states away if they were doing just fine. What changed or caused this?

  13. My ex with BPD disorder couldn't handle 50/50 safely, but then again, there are different levels of it. She is EOW with the kids and struggles with that.

  14. For cleaners, you can buy a gallon of Lysol and use it to refill like 20+ reusable spray bottles.

  15. I’ve been fortunate to have a super understanding boss. Our work tends to be flexible, and not urgent which helps. I know this isn’t the question, but are you able to receive support from your manger/company to make the visitations work better for you?

  16. Same. I've been really grateful my boss is understanding, and I can get my work done from home when needed even though we are mandate hybrid.

  17. Probably not messing with Property taxes in 2025 because the tax reassessment will finally be done and that's a lot of work and they don't want to piss some people off more who already got an increase from that.

  18. That will be a court battle dragging out like a decade to get them to pay.

  19. I didn't even think about asking other people's opinions online. Just do it. Honestly, the schools should give the day off or let out early.

  20. Reacting any differently over a "love you" on the phone won't have any positive effects. I see your other comment that you are inferring that they are having sexual relations because of that and that makes you sound crazy.

  21. Haha no but his gut instinct was to start asking questions and that's fantastic. Ignoring it is not the answer, neither is freaking out over nothing.

  22. Yes, I agree that keeping an open, trustful line of communication is good all the time.

  23. I live on the East Coast. I honestly don't feel judged at all. I get lots of smiles, jokes, and positive comments. On the flip side, a single mom doing the same thing would not get all that.

  24. I actually preferred someone who was a mom for a couple of reasons. First, I have the kids most of the time, so another busy mom would be more understanding and patient with that. It was important for me that the person I date would benefit my kids as well, so I wanted someone who already knew how to be a great mom and how to be patient with kids. So, because of this, I didn't hide that i had kids and advertised that I was a great dedicated dad.

  25. Him and his lawyer would be working for his interest and would try to get a lower payment than you are entitled to. Ignore him.

  26. I don’t even know if he has an attorney honestly. Would he if he has a settlement coming in? He got stabbed when someone broke into his friends house and i guess he’s getting some sort of settlement from that’s since he was in the hospital and out of work for awhile. He just said that Ken Paxton is the attorney general on his case. Which is who deal with child support here in Texas.

  27. Attorneys don't even need to be involved. Child support won't affect a settlement from a criminal case that I know of. If anything, the courts for child support might direct some of that settlement to you but I'm not positive on that. If he is getting disability, he can still pay child support. Disability may send funds directly to you and the children.

  28. It sounds like you don't have a custody order yet. Why not? I hope it's in the process because that will help you protect them, and it's easier to show you are the primary caregiver
