1. I follow a simple rule. Never listen to any white person with a microphone. It's guaranteed bullshit.

  2. So Japan is weaken due to WW2 and is kowtowing down to USA also other western powers.

  3. Visit Little Tokyo in LA. They now have crossdressing bearded men in Lolita outfits marching in their Nisei parades. It's sad that Japanese American culture has been erased and replaced by otaku crap from the motherland. I think the only unspoiled Japanese American enclaves left are in Hawaii, but don't quote me on that.

  4. As a parent I've already had to go in and put a few teachers in their place, with presumptions that my Asian child is just "quiet." Unlike the majority of stupid Americans in the US (and yes the majority of Americans are stupid), I teach my kids to be respectful, considerate and approach life through rational based thinking. Though unlike 1st generation Asian parents, I tell my kids if any student or teacher is affecting you negatively, to notify me immediately so I can drop the fucking hammer on the teacher, parents and/or the whole fucking school if need be. This is the duality of growing up in America where you are Asian at home, but can be a loud and aggressive the moment you step out the door.

  5. The way I see it, it take awhile to organize an individual's thoughts once made aware of the issues Asians in the west face. The next step (which not everyone takes), is to constructively use the knowledge on this sub in a positive and productive manner. As a long time member on here and a parent of Asian children in the west it's always a work in-progress.

  6. As a parent, I've learned to frame the hate Asians have received using "woke" terminology and to maintain an ultra aggressive stance that uses legal threats and social media as a weapon to cancel people's professional careers. I've told my kids, if anything comes up especially in regards to race, rely on your parents to be your attack dogs. This is why I blame other Asian parents for not breaking the cycle of burying their heads in the ground, yet being so fixated on temporary material wealth. I do work across various Chinese, Japanese, Filipino, etc. ethnic events and it blows my mind just how "accepting" Asians seem to be to allow others overtake their own cultural narrative. The colonial mindset is a poisonous thing.

  7. My kids play sports so I get to see a variety of mixed couples. AMXF and AMAF families are quite abundant in my area, though I do see a few AFWM families. I swear, a good portion of the WM fathers can pass as grandfathers to their kids. I'm like, how the fuck are we near or the same age?

  8. The Japanese themselves endorse this stuff. My kid takes a Japanese martial arts for fitness and for some damn reason, all the other Asian kids are Japanese hapa WMAF. I didn't even know there was a significant Japanese population in my neighborhood and yet they all show up at this one spot. Also for some reason these kids lack any discipline in the class. It's like the Japanese moms don't know how to teach discipline to their hapa kids.

  9. I say double down and become more outwardly aggressive in the face of a Trump administration. Hit the gym, stop being a fat ass, build your wealth, have a lawyer on speed dial and pack some heat and/or carry some sort of self-defense weapon.

  10. Lunar New Year is a BS term created in the current climate of China-hate, I won’t support it unless it’s named correctly - Chinese New Year.

  11. There are other Asians that celebrate the Lunar New Year despite using slightly different calendars. I don't see it as China hate, but more as Pan-Asian inclusiveness.

  12. Except that Lunar New Year is a misnomer, the “Lunar New Year” East Asians celebrate are based on lunisolar calendar. And if you look at the timing of US politicians and MSM switching from CNY to Lunar New Year coinciding with US branding China as its main enemy, it’s easy to draw the conclusion.

  13. For ABCs, I say use the New Year to bring in other Asian groups into the fold and push for a pan-Asian narrative. It's a wasted opportunity for the Chinese American community to invite other Asians and showcase how the New Years is celebrated across various Asian countries. Imagine having Chinese, Taiwanese, Vietnamese, Koreans, Mongolians, Japanese, Tibetans, etc. all dressed in their native threads celebrating as one pan-Asian group and sharing mutual goodwill.

  14. I think AI is being under utilized as a tool for positive Asian content creation. It drives the bar down to help creatives help push their narrative out. It's best we get the jump on it now.

  15. Church is a waste of time. Better to spend your Sundays going outdoors and breathing fresh air.

  16. My family and I embrace all things Asian. The future for Asian Americans is inter-Asian marriage in my opinion. In places like Hawaii and California, inter-Asian families are more common. I've met everything from Filipino+Japanese to Taiwanese+Indian. These type of pairings will instill a greater sense of Pan-Asian identity in the long run. If you think preserving your mono-Asian identity is your only option, you'll eventually become a genetic dead end or absorbed into the identify confused hapa fold.

  17. Sounds nice, but the problem I have is that Asia's a large continent, and you can't exactly draw a hard line in the sand. Would Chinese x Indian, for instance, be considered "more mixed" than Chinese x Filipino or Taiwanese x Korean? I've heard lots of debate about this even in Asian-positive forums. And back home in Asia, it's not like the countries and cultures there are all holding hands and peacefully singing kumbaya together, either, so it might not be fair to pretend such.

  18. Whatever issues Asians back in Asia have with each other doesn't apply to Asian Americans. A Chinese/Indian will look SE Asian and a Taiwanese/Korean still looks E. Asian. There's no identity confusion or self-hate manifested by having some racist white Father and a sellout Asian mother. Two Asian parents (regardless of ethnic background) who are proud of their Asian heritage have a much better chance raising well-adjusted and confident children who are comfortable in their own skin.

  19. Asians in Hawaii have much nicer hair versus those on the mainland. Their hair is much more full and lush. Geographic location does make a difference on your appearance. You're basically a product of your environment.

  20. I find real diversity in team sports. If you're a great player with grit and skill, people will love you. I see it first hand in my kids' sports teams. This is why all Asians need to adopt some sort of athletic endeavor, if you excel people will take notice. In my area, it's not uncommon to see at least a third or half of the teams with Asian players and many whom are talented.

  21. I don't get these type of Asians. Have a little damn pride. Tell other Americans to go fuck their mothers. The best policy is to proudly showcase your Asian heritage even more so.

  22. Advocate your own community first. You sound like one of those Bible thumping Asians. Asians as a whole just get dumb when it comes to religion. Definitely sensing dumb vibes from the OP.

  23. I just went out with the family and supported an Asian owned restaurant that knows better to stay open on Thanksgiving.

  24. I noticed this in other shows as well:

  25. Sorry for the late response to my own thread, but I was busy with other things. Anyways, this form of colorism is becoming very blatant across all media. In fact I think it's more prevalent nowadays than when I was younger. At least back in the day if they casted other races in film or tv, they were usually full Black, Asian, Latino, etc. Nowadays they are promoting way more mixed white people as status quo when it comes to ethnicity. I'm all for supporting hapa Asians, but I find it disingenuous when Hollywood casting white washes roles. It's not like I have faith that Hollywood would do the right thing, but I still think it's worth being aware of such portrayals in the media and calling it out.

  26. Asians who play by the rules get a boot stomped on their heads. Asians need to play two games. On the outside we need to convey a responsible public persona in order to garner support. Amongst ourselves, we need to be as ruthless as possible to get ahead. You think other US minority groups don't operate that way?

  27. She was not conceived out of wedlock. Her parents were married.

  28. The Navy Dad literally jumped ship and probably hooked up with another naive woman. Don't try changing the narrative.

  29. Nah, that's bs. Squid Game didn't have a single white actor yet its a massive hit in both the western world and Asia. Don't give them crappy excuses.

  30. They did have a white actor in Squid Game, he was the sick, pervy rich fucker! Totally more realistic!

  31. Japan is a US vassal state. Despite being in a financial position to push positive Asian media, they allow and even support white hegemony through various media outlets. While I do appreciate many aspects of Japanese culture, ultimately I consider them a lost cause unless there's a fundamental change in Japanese society.

  32. I bumped into Bobby Lee at 7-11 buying a pack of cigarettes in LA. Dude was driving a Toyota Camry with Hello Kitty seat covers. I wasn't a fan then, I'm not a fan now.

  33. We're a multilingual Asian speaking family. Our languages have no pronouns.

  34. Have you spent anytime in pan-Asian communities or have any pan-Asian direct/extended family members? We have more in common as opposed to differences. Not to mention there's quite a bit of cultural and traditional overlap. One has to view the Asian ethnic groups less as nationalities, but as various tribes. For example, when the Mongols were united under Chinggis Khan, it wasn't based on racial divisions, but it was to unite all those who lived under a felt tent and followed the nomadic way of life. As Asians in the west, based on our small population percentage, we represent a clan of sorts which is defined as a group of close-knit and interrelated families.

  35. History is completely different. And this is my exact point. People say we are not a monolith 50 times a day but then claim we are a monolith. Asian in the USA is a political grouping not a racial grouping. You can't talk about racial discrimination in a monolithic way. South Asians face different racism from Yellow people who face different problems than White Asians who face different problems from Black Asians.

  36. I think many Asians especially on this sub, just love hearing themselves talk while swinging their dicks. You want to combat racial discrimination, well you need to find ways to weaponize your ideas/concepts into offensive tools. The only thing that matters are solutions. If your thought process isn't solution oriented, you're wasting everyone's time.
