Sounds like you're on Mac. New versions of Fortnite are not released on Mac.

On older laptops you could, also was jumper pads you could use normally under the ram. Sometimes a master key/password can get round the forgotten password but none of those work on more modern laptops.

This exists as well for more modern laptops. It's not perfect but is helpful as a last resort.

Thank you, this has been very helpful. The only issue is trying to get the apploader.img as I’m still trying to find a way to get that file and have exhausted all options I could think of (convert to iso, finding a link online, tutorials which don’t tell me where to get it, etc.)

Dolphin itself can extract the iso. Apploader.img lives on the top level of the image, but Dolphin's properties -> filesystem tab won't show it. Instead, right click on "Partition 0" and you can extract the entire partition, the files, or the apploader. You can extract the boot.dol as well.
