Plus, everyone loved Thor Ragnarok and thought it was the best solo Thor movie in the MCU. Hell, it was so well-received that he’s the only one from the OG lineup that got greenlit for a fourth solo movie because it felt like they’d just figured out what to do with him. It feels like a no-brainer to look at Ragnarok and just tell Taika to do whatever he wants if it’ll bring them another hit. Obviously it didn’t work out, but clearly giving him control by itself wasn’t an inherently terrible idea.
So, there was a solid community around the game prior to launch, but it wasn’t til the infamous Xalavier twitter drama and that final PoH with the bear fucking that hype blew up. We’re talking stratospheric levels comparatively
For me, my only gripe was the disparity between how she was towards Frank vs Matt. I am only talking about how the writing for this could've been better. S2 and Defenders had some shoddy writing for her character and made her way to harsh and cold to Matt in an inordinate way, in my opinion. Again, I just wish the writing was better in this regard.
Read that whole novel and 100% get it, and agree. Actually helped me make sense of my own distaste for just about all of Karen’s interactions with Frank; as I was struggling to piece together why I hated it so much. Especially when I don’t even think she works with Matt beyond platonic.
