I'm working on a DIY board the will work in pretty much the same way. I'm hoping to have it done within the next month or 2 and then release it on Cults3d first to get some funds to launch a Indiegogo or Kickstarter campaign to help develop and distribute DIY kits and to do further development on the board - the possibilities with these boards are endless.
OP .... we have looked at similar apps like idChess ... but they are very expensive. Any plans on getting functionality so that we can broadcast games to a fan zone during tournaments?
I'm working on integrating the Lichess broadcast API with the web app, then you should be able to embed the broadcast on your website! Is that the sort of thing you're after?

That will be awesome. We would like to have multiple boards displayed on screens in the "fan zone" where fans and parents can follow the games.
