1. Why? Because together we are a partnership. What's mine is my wife's and vice versa. We run the house, and brought up our children as a couple. These things are all "ours" not mine or hers. It's to do with being equal partners: I can't imagine me buying an expensive phone because I'm paid more while my wife can't afford one or vice versa. That makes no sense in a partnership.

  2. Me and my partner earn roughly the same salary anyway so whether we pool our money or split everything equally it makes no difference

  3. Don’t listen to him. Albos have a great rep. Always good stuff and will drop anywhere and give you an almost exact ETA not 20mins and waiting hours

  4. Yeah well I hate to break it to you and hope this doesn’t sound rude but you’re not gonna get even remotely close to 100k for using excel and perhaps some basic accountancy software like QuickBooks.

  5. Bit of a derogatory comment there. OP seems to work in finance and there is ample opportunity to make 100k in that sector. Mate of mine recently broke the 100k mark and he started off doing credit card customer services in a bank. He’s not got a degree either.

  6. I don’t understand why though? Delivery slots cost about £3 with some retailers, and for that £3 you save yourself literal hours of going out. The food prices are the same (I think). What am I missing here?

  7. I have two major supermarkets within a few minutes drive of me. I quite like browsing for inspiration and it’s something to do with the kids if we have a quiet Sunday.

  8. That's mental, what year model was it?

  9. Dream line up right there. I have the yacht-master right now and will sign up for the batgirl next!

  10. I have been on a waiting list for the 40mm yacht for 2.5 years it’s killing me.

  11. Do you live in a major city with a lot of demand? How about your purchase history so far? 2.5 years seems excessive for this piece, they may not be willing to sell you the watch unfortunately. My city has 3 ADs, one gave it to me and the other two nothing at all - I can tell by the vibe at the other two that I'm not getting anything from them either.

  12. I do live in a major city in the U.K. yeah so there may be quite a bit of demand. I have zero purchase history with the AD and don’t intend on building any to be honest, I hate the idea of playing that game. I’d rather buy a grey market one.

  13. lol have you tried getting a cannabis prescription in the UK? They are denying kids with cancer, severe seizures and MS these prescriptions! It’s almost impossible to get one. It may be technically legal but most people can’t actually access it. For one you have to see a specialist doc, and I can’t afford to go private, which is how most people who get a scrip do it. There are only a handful of docs in the country who can prescribe it.

  14. It’s not 1976 anymore nobody is going to jail for having 2 grams of weed on them. Also it’s pretty simple to get prescription weed. I think you need to take another look at it.

  15. For some reason, writing with your right hand with your watch on the same wrist seems ridiculous to picture in my head

  16. Yes! I get bored around the 18months to 2 year mark. I always try to change every two years.

  17. Me too. Some of my colleagues have been doing the same job 15+ years and it blows my mind. I’ve never held a role more than 3 years

  18. You should always have sugar or orange juice on you when hitting the smokes hard and always eat.

  19. Doesn’t sound at all like he got spiked, sounds like he had way too much in one go. Quarter of a gram is a pretty big amount for someone to take if they have low tolerance.

  20. The US is a shithole. If you have a major health issue you will be poor and potentially homeless.

  21. It’s only shit if you don’t have money. Also the US is fucking huge, some of it is nice.

  22. That will all be gone in 4 or 5 years.

  23. If you are into crypto for fiat gains, you aren't into crypto.

  24. I think most people see inheritance tax as a tax on money that has already had tax paid on it. It's not so much a lucky windfall for the recipient as you describe it but a lifetime of effort and endeavour for the person having left it, that has already had tax paid.

  25. Not only that but in today's economy inheritance is probably the only real chance that a lot of folks have of actually getting a decent leg up for themselves and their families. Granted the nil-rate band is fairly generous but that's fast being eaten into by crazy house prices and to be fair if you're one of three or four kids then there's less to go around anyway.

  26. But do you understand that having the inheritance tax collects tax revenue that in turn allows keeping the income taxes a bit lower, which in turn then helps every working person to "get a leg up". Don't you think it's fairer that you get a leg up because your own efforts and not because of your parents?

  27. Please tell me more about how income taxes are being kept lower right now by IHT. The tax burden is the highest it’s been in decades.

  28. Just for some quick maths, if you had a £200k mortgage a few years back and fixed at 1.5% interest that would be a monthly payment of £800.

  29. Yep we have 280k fixed at 1.6% - it’ll likely go up to 5% next year. This going to be a slap round the chops when it arrives.

  30. Does it by any chance go through the company, so they can claim it as a tax writeoff?

  31. Agree completely. I’m getting by on £30k in a nice house-share in fairly affluent London neighbourhood. Obviously I have to be frugal but I’m not living in poverty.

  32. House share being the point here. House share is not really desirable or even appropriate for the large majority of people over about 27 years of age.

  33. Define appropriate, and why the age of 27 specifically? I know of very few people under the age of 35 who can afford to live alone.

  34. Lots of people who are approaching 30 generally just don’t want to be in shared accommodation, in my experience. I was lucky enough to be able to afford my own place by 30 and I was sick of sharing places with people. Lots of folks have kids by 30 too.

  35. We get £4400 a month and our mortgage is £1200. We are comfortable.

  36. I think the major factor to consider here is childcare. My partner and I bring in £5k a month net combined and our mortgage is £900. We also pay something like £1600 a month in childcare so it's a huge expenditure.

  37. I'm single with no dependents, take home is £4250 and car loan is £350. How does that sound

  38. Managed to test drive a £65,000 bmw X3 with absolutely zero intention of buying that particular one. I also test drove a £50k Nissan GTR once but the salesman was a young lad and I just told him honestly that I'd love to drive it and he let me, that was a fun day.

  39. There’s no real “need” stay under the 85k threshold you have to be incredibly risk averse to bother with that. Plenty of businesses have millions or even hundreds of millions with the same bank.

  40. The U.K. government bailed out RBS, Lloyds, etc… Next time round, it be a bail in where customers will be liable for bank loses should it face a existential threat of bankruptcy for the bank. You only need to look at what the Greek banks did during the Greek crisis, they gave their customers a haircut on their savings.

  41. “It could happen” is an entirely unsubstantiated claim driven only by paranoia. The economic landscape, regulatory landscape and the way banks are now obliged to operate is very very different to 15-20 years ago. Risk taking is minimised, customer funds are ringfenced. To my knowledge nobody even lost cash savings from the RBS group accounts in 2008 anyway, so you’re saying something that never happened could happen again.

  42. I’m going to ignore point 1 as I have received advice that I maybe able to put the property in a bare trust deed as I never bought the property with the intention of owning it as though it was mine.

  43. Points 2 and 3 are completely correct im afraid. They are basic mortgage terms that apply to almost all mortgages.

  44. I'm just fucking vanilla compared to everyone else. Ive gone to a number of events but nothing like bit shit crazy, I think a few fallowfield basement things were a bit mad.

  45. I don’t think any banks would block it. I do know some major U.K. banks don’t allow transfers to binance but that’s it.
