A lot of women definitely do care and being rich makes it easier. It at least makes men more attractive. Studies have shown men tend to go for looks while women tend to go for some sort of social status whether it be height, money, power, etc. Of course, status and looks aren’t everything but they’re a big aspect for attracting the opposite gender.
Maybe think of the wider societal reasons for this and the long patriarchal history behind it - rather than viewing it as a fixed rule about what men and women want.

Naturally, men want to produce the healthiest children they can and usually women who do that tend to have attractive features (like wider hips), and due to women being physically weaker they naturally want a strong man who can protect them and their future children.
