Murder has never been reviled. It's actually been the norm for most of our existence as a species. Honor killings, pillage, slaughtering of tribes and villages all predate agriculture. In fact, it was almost expected in some societies to kill as a matter of cause. Hangings and decapitations were public spectacles and humans would display corpses as a matter of policy. From states like Britain, Germany, France, to African and Native American peoples. The Aztec performed human sacrifices!
This is either purposefully obtuse or you are just ignorant of my original point, but in first-world modern day society, murder is illegal, and seen as morally reprehensible in almost all cases. We have laws for involuntary manslaughter when someone is accidentally killed, yet if you slap a “war” label in other countries Americans will soy face and say it is “horrible but necessary”
I assumed it was hard on purpose to give the sense that the bots are pushing harder into this fight than their last one. Like this is their D Day Invasion. Is it possible this is intentional? I know there are some other aspects that are not like pathing. Environments killing them makes sense because they aren’t awesome Helldivers so surviving is harder. Hmm. I’m torn. I see good reasons for it being a mix of intention and unintentional.
I am almost entirely sure these missions are designed to be extremely difficult for lore purposes, so that we lose this order and the bots or whatever faction advances.
They wouldn’t give Zack those very cool and interesting moves if they were not planning on making him a party member next game. Same with him being on the box art even though he was a very small part of this game.
Also for anyone who thinks this is just fan service… while I think yes, it might partially be fan service, I think the deviation here is that since Sephiroth is planning something more solid than in the OG to win, life Stream Aerith knows they will need more help this time around, so she sends Zack to team up with Cloud and the gang.
The assuredness that they are not trying to do this because they think it’s the right thing to do and rather because they are in kahoots with insomniac is some absolutely schizo thinking. Putting words into other people’s mouths. To be so sure on other people’s thinking just because that is the biased way you believe it to be rather than what they are telling you it is.
"Going for the throat" - am I doing that? no I'm not calling for anything bad to happen, just saying they should be honest with their audience. If that's "going for the throat" in your book I'm not sure what to tell you. If you're bringing that up due to what other people have said well that's not really relevant to the discussion you and I are having so....
Not saying you specifically but the overall response i have seen on twitter and this thread has just been absolutely cynical and vitriolic. It feels full of spite rather than actual concern - some would say it feels like “virtue signaling” as there is no other reason for it than just to be upset for the sake of it.
Hasan may be extremely annoying, but if the people in this sub think making manifestos documenting a twitch streamer in the middle of covering an ongoing war is not some of the most annoying shit you have ever seen, idk what to tell you
