The word Dream has been tainted for me because of whatever the fuck the children today watch on YouTube, so seeing that next to AMV about gave me a stroke
It was a vanity project for Mindy Kaling as far as anyone can tell. She has like a personal connection to Velma and wanted to make a show where she got to be Velma in a show where’s she’s the main character. Which isn’t a BAD premise, but the whole package just had no ideas beyond subverting the zeitgeist.
I don’t remember where I saw it, I think JR JR drew it but I remember a panel of Peter shirtless sitting in a chair with spiders crawling over him and him monologuing about it.
There’s a really good fan compiled audio drama version of it on youtube that I ended up liking, which I guess appeals to me the same way Big Finish Doctor Who does. I kinda dug the angle of Luke’s vulnerability to the dark side being rooted in wanting to know why his father fell and the super weapons were at least creatively insane. It’s a weird EU story that actually started to make more sense as the Prequels added in all the stuff about cloning and immortality and I had headcanoned at some point that the World Devastators could have been inspired by Palpatine reading about the Star Forge.
As far as I can tell the hate for Dark Empire wasn’t Palps coming back but just the general weirdness of the story. Could be wrong on that, but yeah RoS is definitely worse than Dark Empire which is impressive
The artwork does a lot of heavy lifting for what is ultimately a generic Star Wars story. Gothic 80s sci-fi taken to its extreme. It reminds me of Alien but more Star Wars-y
On the subject of dumb boob windows, that one costume Susan Richards wore, with the 4 shaped boob window has to be one of the all time dumbest designs.
I was under the impression the only reason he had sleeves was Hugh Jackman saying he didn't want to bulk up for the role because he's too old for something that intense. So it's weird that they're including a sleeveless look at all. Now I'm wondering if those are his actual arms or like a muscle suit or something.
