Its not hard to understand, this one I didnt have an issue with when I was in. JWs teach the big J is all knowing and all powerful. Its not really predestination when you are all powerful and can accomplish anything. He can just cause whatever he wants to happen whenever he wants and predicting the future is just a matter of having all knowledge and the power to manipulate all variables.
I don't think its a question about what God can do - its more the consequences. If he makes people do bad things e.g. getting one of the apostles to betray Jesus, would he not be effectively damning one of his creations to certain death. I mean there is the fairly obvious point in that if he chose to look in to the future when he should have done, right at the start, he would have seen it all go tits up
I once had the Circuit Overseer and his wife for lunch and obviously took any questionable DVDs or CDs upstairs first lol. The CO's wife still proceeded to browse thorugh my music collection and commented that i had a couple of Mozart CDs. She said I shouldn't listen to him because he lived an immoral lifestyle and she only listens to Kingdom melodies made by jehovah's people. I get really angry looking back at that now thinking I should have said something but I was so exasperated thinking I'd got rid of anything remotely dodgy that i just said "yeah whatever" and let her moan. It happens so often. I once said good morning to a sister and told her she looked pretty on the ministry only for her to report me to the elders because as a married man I shouldnt look at other women. ffs.
I was always told that carbon dating is skewed because of the flood. I don't understand it, if I'm honest. I still don't get how things are dated. If soembody finds an old stone that's been made into a tool, surely what you're dating is the stone, not the date it was made into a tool? Does that make sense? like Stonehenge...you can date the stones but how do you know when they were taken to Stonehenge?
