1. I used to take passport photos. I would just place a poster board on the floor and lay them down, and use two lamps with very bright white lights on left and right sides of the baby to get rid of any shadows. Then I would stand over the baby and keep clicking until I got a good shot.

  2. I was the only place in town that did baby passports for over 5 years. This is a solid baby passport photo and they used the best strategy to get it.

  3. For kids it is 5 years (in the US), but still. You could have a passport with a picture of a baby, and that definitely doesn't work well to identify a 4-5 year old.

  4. I actually had someone use their baby photo passport as ID for a 12 movie. They were absolutely serious with using it and couldn’t see why I was laughing (not in a malicious way).

  5. Forget the kid's face, I wanna see the dad's reaction to having to get his kid's head still without making the kid cry. THAT is the photographic image I'd like to see.

  6. Fun fact: this is exactly how they got photos of babies/children taken in the early days of photography. The children aren't just sitting around on random furniture, it's actually their parents disguised as furniture (exactly as OP is doing)

  7. I had a similar experience years ago. Had to have my baby boy taken a passport photo. I was a bit nervous thinking there’s no way he’s going to sit still and look at the camera. Good luck explaining about a biometric photo to a 11 month old 😀 The lady at the register at our local post office yelled the other one “baby photo!!” And someone showed up with a big white towel. They made me sit on the stool while I was trying to explain I don’t need my photo taken. 😄 Put the towel on me like the OP, gave me back my baby, took the photo and sent us away in only a couple of minutes. I left that post office with such a weird admiration that day.

  8. This reminds me of an article I read a while ago about how they’d take Victorian photos of babies; they did the same thing where the baby would sit in the mom’s lap or arms and the mom would be covered with a drape or something to blend into the background; end result was baby stayed calm and still enough to take solo photo and mom was able to stealth through like a ninja XD Also he a handsome little man!! He gots them sweet chubby cheeks 🥰🥰

  9. My toddler has a part of my husband's hand (on his belly) on his passport photo. By the time we got that one both hubby and I were exhausted and irritated because the child must be seated in the booth to take the photo. Now, every time we see it, we lol.
