  2. Masking was important during the early phase of the pandemic to not swamp the hospitals with more patients than they could handle. Individuals with health concerns should by all means continue to mask. But we are pretty much in the endemic phase of this thing now. Like the common cold, the flu, etc, etc, its just a part of life. Like George Carlin I'm excited to see what comes next. I don't think Monkey Pox has the staying power. I have faith Mother Earth will bring things into balance once again though, eventually. Mmmmm, this is good coffee.

  3. $975-1525 is the range of sold guns like it on gunbroker. Somewhere in there lies the truth.

  4. Do we need this permit to take a semi auto to the range?

  5. No just to take possession/purchase something new.

  6. Hang out at your local gunshop. Strike up conversations, ask the clerks for someone they'd recommend in the same situation who might reciprocate.

  7. Forced networking is the fucking worst. It's either a constitutional right or it isn't.

  8. Agreed. But there is what is right and then there is getting it done. I just had my fourth character witness bow out on me and I'm frustrated as anyone with the process but I going to get it done,

  9. That was my grandpa's favorite woodchuck gun. I got a model 146B as my first gopher gun because it was so similar even though it had a tubular magazine instead of a detachable magazine. I can't think of anything more fun than traversing the backfields and the hillside with my old Mossberg.

  11. Is there really a "Left" in this Country? I thought there was potential there for a few years but that ship sailed 2+ years ago now.

  12. Yes. I am Left of Center. I was a Registered Democrat for two decades until this year. I will be voting against all the incumbent Democrats for the next two cycles at least for the Laws they've passed this year regarding guns and other various documented scandals. I'm not a one issue voter but at least in my state (New York) the rot in the Party is systemic and they all need to be voted out on principle.

  13. I'm not just simply voting against these Democrats because of their gun grabbing BS. I'll be voting for whoever isn't Kathy Hochul, Charles Schumer, Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, etc, etc because they are utterly corrupt vampires on every level.

  14. Post '64 Winchesters can go from $525 to $850 depending on the condition. The Marlin has less of a spread and generally have been going in the $600 to $695 range unless they're beat to hell. That's the average sold prices on Gunbroker. Everybody complains about using that as a metric but I'm in New York and LGS's are almost always priced higher here.

  15. I had the same experience with the Savage Axis in .308. I'm convinced from my research it was the tupperware stock influencing POI changes. Traded it in and now my go to .308 is an old Remington 700 that shoot 1 MOA all day.

  16. I have a background very similar to yours and views that are much the same. I used to believe that the government has the right to place limitations on ownership of weapons and I believed that because they said the bargain was they wouldn't touch our traditional hunting rifles. Well this year New York state came for those and I am now fully on the other end of the spectrum of the issue because of their overreach.

  17. Woodchucks, rabbits, racoon, fox, coyote, whitetail, and two legged varmints. Whatever is getting in your garden, trash, coop, or garage. And a good round to plink and practice with when you compare to a 30-30 per round price. A great utilitarian rifle I'd love to own myself.

  18. I'm keeping them out of things, not eating them, .22lr, 44mag, dead is dead. There's always 44 special, cowboy loads, subsonic handloads, if you're super concerned... it's a rather versatile gun.

  19. In the '70s and 80's heating oil and wood stoves were significantly cheaper to operate and most houses had one or the other or both.

  20. I got delayed on my last purchase because the clerk typed in 1927 instead of 1977. They pulled that request and ran another and it went through. They can do it if they want to. This FFL robbed you.

  21. I'd pick the Marlin if you're going to put a scope on it, Winchester if the area you are hunting, or your eyes, don't require it. Will he let you test fire them? See which one groups better if thats the deciding factor. The Post '64 Winchester can go from $525 to $850 depending on the condition. There are collectors model that go for more. The Marlin has less of a spread and generally have been going in the $600 to $695 range unless they're beat to hell.
