iirc hunger/appetite is your stomach sending signals to your brain, so I don’t think so. No gut=no signal. I’m very much not an expert and probably know nothing, however.
I'm very very sceptical of the claim being made here actually being achieved. 'Sensor data is transmitted to the rat's brain through Bluetooth'. Are you kidding me? If someone has a more concrete source please link it, but that's unlikely as I am near certain this is bullshit.
I think it's actually really cool. We might make bionic arms or tools attached to our backs as extra arms. We could carry stuff with 4 arms. We could also reconnect completely severed limbs like this. This is also a start to neuro link ourselves online digitally. We could make games by entering capsules and make a fully realistic games we can feel and see everything like it's actually there, like a brain I'm a jar of sort. Our bodies will be asleep but I'm our heads we will see, feel, smell, taste, hear new sounds incompressible in human heads, see new prime colours outside of red, blue and yellow, run around like I'm real life and shit. Although yeah, there's a lot of scary parts that could happen, but if robots do become sentient, it's more likely that they'd be like us and interact with us more normally than exterminate us all
I constantly feel as though life is a simulation and it only started just now ,we’re in a simulation of what life was like before we could put brains into simulated reality
Ah geez, I saw this a few months ago and thought of it the other day. I'd started to think maybe I'd just seen it in a dream and it wasn't actually real. Nope. D:
From the moment I understood the weakness of my flesh, it disgusted me. I craved the strength and certainty of steel. I aspired to the purity of the blessed machine. Your kind cling to your flesh as if it will not decay and fail you. One day the crude biomass you call a temple will wither and you will beg my kind to save you. But I am already saved. For the Machine is Immortal.
That epic fucking music does NOT help this situation at all
What's worse is that its music from a franchise that dabbles in this exact same scenario. Very thematic.
There goes Adeptus Mechanicus game soundtrack
The rat picked the music
Need a rat brain module for Roomba. Maybe it won’t get stuck on a small carpet anymore.
You think they have 2 day shipping?
“The neurons only last for 3 months, so several rat brains have been used.”
There's rechargeable batteries...
Ratteries?
WTF. Why?
Science isn’t about why, it’s about why not!
Uh so I can be put in a robot and live forever. Duh.
Why not?
Without a gut does it sense hunger? Is it franticly trying to find food while being unable to eat for its 3 month pickle starvation staycation?

It's a rat.
This is what they are showing us... What do you think is behind the locked door?
Chinese, North Korean, and Russian concentration camps are more than just labor camps.
Rat: "Metalliaca one starts playing"
Hot Wheels, imprisoning me
Jesus Christ. Straight out of a dystopian movie

I hate this video so much. All I can think about is this poor rat brain trying to figure out what the hell is going on.
And that it’s trying to escape.
...that's literally what has me cracking up laughing in delight about this video.
For anyone who wants to know more:
Even in death, I still serve the omnissiah
Metal Gear rat?

I actually think it’s quite fascinating
It is but it's also wtf
This is it people. The birth of SKYNET. 🤖 💥
PRAISE THE OMNISIAHAHHH
Dear scientific community,
Is this the first step in making Ghost in the Shell a reality?? Cus man idk if I'd wanna be exposed to body hacking and brain hacking
Lol my first thought was GitS as well lmao. Rat Cyberbrain
The big question here is: Is this real?
It's like no one even knows what Sky Net is anymore
That’s just fucked up, what idiot is funding this butchery?
How is this a “nope”?
Fun fact: with enought dedication, you can do this too!
IT’S AAALIIIIIVEE IT’S AAAALLIIIIVVVVEEE!!
These fuckers don't watch the same SciFi movies we do do they?
So it begin....
"From the moment I understood the weakness of my flesh... It disgusted me."
this is both fascinating and terrifying at the same time
I think my favorite comment from the last comment section of wherever this was posted was “touch….I remember…touch”
There’s no way the rat brain is sentient. Right?
Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn’t stop to think if they should.
Its a living rat or just the rat brain?

it's not a question of CAN we, it's a question of SHOULD we 😂😂
