Timbuktu in Obs. The food is a heavenly experience and the decoration is interesting. It is exactly the kind of spot you go to have deep conversations.
Maria's in Gardens. Was first owned by a Greek woman who made the most amazing food. She's passed but still today you can eat the most sublime Greek food sitting in the square with the trees overhead. Just thinking about it makes my mouth drool.
Rare Grill in Kenilworth. Tiny little steakhouse, amazing food. And there's a bar upstairs if you want to continue your conversations late into the night.
I was sitting at the bar there 2 days ago and saw a huge Rat through the kitchen door, the dude was walking around so casually that it made me wonder if he's part of the staff.

Absolutely love this place. They didn't have a liquor license when last I was there, so you can bring your own corkage, but no hard tack.
Do cocktails count? Art of duplicity?

Banana Jam’s food is surprisingly good and they have a proper rum selection too!

The Harvest Cafe in Muizenburg is a lovely little spot. Next to the sea, the smell of coffee with a summery feel to it.
Some hidden gems might be more focused on your preference as a person.
The BBQ in Voortekker street. Opposite the Sanlam centre.
South China Dim Sum Bar in Long Street in the City Bowl is amazing! A tiny hole in the wall and the best dim sum!
