1. Just try the PS+ Collection to start off with. There are 20 amazing games. You definitely have to try Astro.

  2. Agreed. God of War (2018) and The Last of Us were some of the best gaming experiences I’ve ever had. I think I put 35 hours int the first weekend GoW came out. Enjoy!

  3. I'd second this, though with Persona 5 you may be interested in the Royal edition which adds an extra third part of the game, and has some quality of life changes too.

  4. This exactly. Also, don’t forget to claim your PS+ monthly games. Even if you don’t think you will play them now, just stick them in the library as you might someday.

  5. Uncharted 4 blew my freaking mind when I first got my ps5. I still get goosebumps thinking about it.

  6. Especially on PS5. It ran pretty terrible on PS4, but luckily for PS5 users the fps is unlocked, so it runs at a stable 60 on PS5.

  7. This is the correct answer. It’s free with PS+, and it’s basically curated to be the perfect representation of PlayStation gaming. That collection can keep you entertained for months.

  8. I mean, I'd skip cod, fallout 4 (play modded on pc if you can), mortal kombat x, buy p5r, skip re7 and until if you don't like horror, battlefield 1 might have a small playerbase too.

  9. My first game for my PS5 (um it’s actually astro, but yeah) and I’ve spent almost 30h and just finished 1st Act, definitely love this game!

  10. Never get why people love this game so much. It’s just the same as Assassins Creed with a better combat mechanic. The quests fill with boring trailing missions and the side activities are extremely repetitive. I forget how many times I have to follow a god damn fox just to get a part of a charm slot. Swear to god if this game was made by Ubisoft, people would tear it down for how generic its open world is. Oh, and don’t forget the stupid follow the wind gimmick that you have to run around like an idiot just to find a black powder cache, when it wouldn’t even be a problem if the game just gave you a freaking minimap from the first place. The story with the whole fighting with or without honor is also weak as it was never able convince you why fighting without honor is a dark path. It is honor when we kill our enemies by creating an explosion by shooting a fire arrow from a mountain into the canon powder, but throwing a kunai into their faces is a no no. And somehow being a “ghost”, aka assassinating the invaders hurting innocents was the same as the invaders themselves, because you weren’t noble enough to prioritize your own childish pride over your people’s lives. It’s a good game but not a must buy for me.

  11. All of my friends refuse to try Astro’s Playroom because “iTs A LiTtLe KiDs GaMe” and it sucks that they’re missing out on a super fun experience that showcases how awesome he controller is.

  12. Just started playing Returnal and it’s surprisingly really good. Never played that type of game before and I’m obsessed with it

  13. Will add in the two Infamous games as candidates that can be had on the cheep. Solid titles and a lot of chaotic fun.

  14. Nioh 1 and nioh 2 are great with the ps5 update. You can get them as a collection. Demon souls remake is the prettiest game on the console to this day. God of war is amazing if you havent played that yet. Chivalry 2 is pretty sick sometimes. Bloodborne is a must poay, though its a bit old now. Still looks good but hasnt been updated for the ps5. Returnal is a great roguelike shooter if your into that.

  15. There lot of good games that are free for ps5 in the store. God of war is always good but they got few other good picks there

  16. I’d say jump into Horizon: Zero Dawn right now. You can get the complete collection for around 10 bucks used (assuming you got a disc based console). Play that through Feb 17th then pickup Horizon: Forbidden West on the 18th and have yourself a real next-gen experience along with the rest of us.

  17. Last of Us, both parts. Unparalleled combination of gameplay and powerful narrative. (Very much R-rated.)

  18. I haven’t had a PlayStation in a while, ps5 is on the way, Xbox series s has been filling the void, and honestly, these S tier, story driven 3rd person games like Uncharted, last of us and god of war are what I’ve missed the most.. nothing on Xbox is scratching the itch at ALL

  19. And too add check out the amazing gyro functionality within it and take full advantage of the DualShock/sense

  20. I just got mine and PS+ had a massive backlog of free games so check if you can get things like the N-sane trilogy, god of war or persona since that’s stuff I was able to download

  21. play Uncharted last. i realize it’s well liked but if you haven’t played them at all, the earlier ones haven’t aged too well. for that reason, there are many games on the ps collection that i think are more worth a play through

  22. I second this. I got a ps5 last year and was excited to catch up on loads of famous games I'd missed out on. The Uncharted series was an obvious buy.

  23. Not sure what’s been ported since I played it but here are my recs for stuff that was Sony exclusive at least when I played them. Also disclaimer my list heavily skews toward Japanese games for the most part.

  24. Chiming in on Persona 5 Royal, especially if you want LONG games. Easily 100+ hrs just for the main story

  25. I was the same way. Was an Xbox guy for the past so generations. Here’s are my recommendations: God of War, Ghost of Tsushima, Days Gone, Spider-Man remastered, Spider-Man miles morales, Detroit : Become Human.

  26. The last of us , 1 and 2. Be careful when you play them since you would need some thing lighter to wash off the after taste of those games right after you finish them.

  27. This is accurate. As soon as I finished TLOU2 last year, I went out and bought Pokémon Sword. Desperately needed that light-hearted, easy gameplay.

  28. The Last of Us - Part 1 & 2 Horizon Zero Dawn Ghost of Tsushima God of War Astro’s Playroom Spider-Man and Miles-Morales

  29. Last of Us 1 & 2 are both incredible. Blood borne if you were into Dark Souls and missed it. If not, Demon’s Souls is a good one to jump into—true PS5 exclusive and looks amazing. God of War. Horizon Zero Dawn is pretty sweet.

  30. Bro you already have Spider-man MM ult edition. Ultimate edition comes with the free Spider-man Remastered for PS5 and I think this is one of the best starting point in playing your PS5 other than Astro’s playroom which is an exceptional PS5 tech showcase. Here are the games/backlogs I’m currently playing in no particular order:

  31. Spider-Man, Ghost of Tsushima, Ratchet & Clank (any of them), Horizon Zero Dawn, Bloodborne, Demon’s Souls, God of War, and any other game in the PS Plus collection you got for free with the PS5.

  32. God of war, uncharted, the last of us. Basically any exclusives sony has you need to play. Uncharted by far should be the first series of games to play. You won’t regret it trust me.

  33. Bro. Demon Souls is straight up the most gorgeous graphically and mechanically tight. Your sense of accomplishment in Souls Games is second to none. Also good introduction to the genre before Elden Ring which is looking to be a powerhouse experience on next gen.

  34. Persona 5! It's really damn good and, congrats, free for you. Over 100 hours front to back, so maybe do God of war first

  35. Almost every playstation exclusive games, but i would reccomend to start of with God of War 2018 and move to Ghost of Tsushima directors cut, Spider-men miles Morales ultimate edition includes Spider-man remastered (reccomend ps5 version), The last of us 1 &2, Uncharted series (remaster is coming soon), Horizon Zero Dawn (also in PC), Days gone (also in PC), Bloodborne, Detroit Become Human (also in PC), Infamous second son, Ratchet and Clank, Shadow of collosus, Deathloop (ps5 only), Returnal (ps5 only), You can look up few more to your own taste.

  36. Demon souls , dark souls remastered , dark souls 2 , dark souls 3 , bloodborne , sekiro , upcoming elden ring .

  37. From a PS5 exclusive standpoint check out Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart and Returnal. Both are excellent showcases for the new SSD and controller haptic feedback.

  38. Aside from what you ordered (Spider-Man and miles morales are great), God of war, Last of us remastered and Last of us 2, Horizon Zero Dawn. Those are a good start. Also the uncharted series.

  39. Id reccomend Miles Morales definitely. Wait maybe for sale bc god damn, its good but I wouldn't say 50 dollars worth.

  40. The Last of Us 1 & 2 are the absolute best. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart was also really good for a ps5 game. Also I recommend Astros Playroom (preinstalled already) to try out all the dualsense features

  41. The 2 last of us games are my favorite but idk if you’re into story heavy games. Horizon of course. Ghost of tshushima is awesome. Tear away is really under appreciated if you like artsy games. Uncharteds are all very cool especially lost legacy. Days gone is a def skip. If you can get the order 1886 for like 5 dollars it’s really really good. That’s basically it I think

  42. Control, Horizon Zero Dawn, Outer Worlds are all really great and either on sale or super cheap. Cyberpunk 2077, despite the controversy, is a good game to get on sale and it's been running fine on my ps5.

  43. For CP crashed fairly regularly. Not doing anything intense. Only game that the problem happens with so I know it's not my console. Once they come out with the ps5 upgrade I'll get back into it. Although if OP could get it for 10 or so bucks it well worth it.

  44. Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut, Alan Wake: Remastered just to name a few

  45. Spider Man MM and Spider Man. Ghost of Tsushima God of War Horizon Zero Dawn (and maybe Forbidden West when it comes out)

  46. Demon’s souls. I usually dislike replaying games, but I replayed the heck out of that game because it was so good.

  47. Start with Horizon Zero Dawn, currently on sale for $9.99 in the US PSN store. Play through that to get ready for the new one that comes out early next year. Then go for God of War in the PS+ Collection. Once you beat that just go ahead and accept that no other PS4 game is/will ever be as good as that. From there you should grab the Uncharted Nathan Drake Collection and play through those three games in preparation for the PS5 version of Uncharted 4 and Lost Legacy that comes out end of January. Between those you should be set for a while. If that does do it then definitely be sure to play Spider-Man Remastered and then Miles Morales. They’re both great but I always recommend to play them in their release order. Love them both!

  48. I did the same jump this gen as well. Make sure to check to the PS plus collection for the free ps4 games. Uncharted 4, god of war and the last of us remastered are good places to start. Blood borne and demon souls would be the next tier of choices especially if you like god of wars combat. Enjoy!

  49. God of War, Returnal, Ghost of Tsushima, The Last of Us, Spider-Man + Miles Morales, Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart and of course Astros Playroom which is already installed on your console :)

  50. Ghost of Tsushima is top 3 games of all time for me . Story is really cool in a fun, liberty taking, historical sort of way. Combat system is just deep enough to feel challenging and the stealth gives you options for completion. Def worth the time

  51. Play through a few of the games on the ps plus collection which you get for free (God of War, Persona 5, Last of Us Remastered) and then see anything that interests you. I was in the same boat and caught up with all the ps4 games i missed and ps5 games that came out, the standout for me was final fantasy 7 remake after having never played a FF game, so I'd definitely recommend that

  52. The list goes on and on. Luckily you have access to some really great games for free with the playstation plus collection on PS5. I would recommend all of the big, popular first-party games such as God of War, both Spider-Man games, Horizon Zero Dawn, Ghost of Tsushima, Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart, Uncharted collection and Uncharted 4 (maybe wait for the ps5 version), Both of the Last of Us games and maybe Days Gone, Returnal, Bloodborne and Demon's Souls depending on your taste in games.

  53. Since you have PS+, you get access to a bunch of games called the PS Plus Collection. You’ll see this in the PS Store. Basically a collection of PS4’s greatest titles. Can’t go wrong with any title in there.

  54. I haven't read through the list of what other people recommended, but play Control. That game is one of the first I played on my PS5 last year, and it blew my fucking mind. That's my #1 recommendation, closely followed by God of War and Days Gone in the ps+ collection.

  55. PS5 specifically? If you're a fan of TPS/Rogue-likes, I highly recommend Returnal. Nioh 2 is an AMAZING game, and you don't need to bother with Nioh 1. Demon's Souls is super good. People recommend Deathloop, Cris Tales is an amazing Turn-based RPG. The Pathless is a smooth experience. Ghost of Tsushima is, also, amazing. Mortal Shell is a confusing, but solid, Souls-like.

  56. If you have ps+ go look through PS+ Collection. It's 20 "free" games God of War, Final Fantasy XV Royal, The Last of Us, Persona 5 etc...

  57. Check out the PlayStation Plus Collection for PS5 owners. There should be at least 20 games available that should keep you busy for a long time!

  58. Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut (The original didn’t have lock-on on enemy) Returnal Spider-man and miles morales Days gone The last gaurdian God of War 3 and 2018 Uncharted (literally all of them) Infamous second son, first light Horizon zero dawn Bloodborne (if you like souls games and dark atmosphere) Shadow of the colossus (one of the best games ever made) Ratchet and clank rift apart The last of us 1 and 2 Final fantasy VII remake Persona 5

  59. Download fallout 4 from the ps plus game collection then maybe buy red dead redemption 2, they always suited me just fine

  60. The Last of Us. TLOU1 is on the PS+ Collection, and TLOU2 goes on sale regularly. It’s absolutely the best gaming franchise (imo), and a must play

  61. Bloodborne is a must. Just a heads up, you should be able to already claim it as is part of the PS+ collection.

  62. Spider Man and Rachet and Clank. I’d also suggest, It Takes Two. You can only play that with a friend but the developers made it so only 1 person has to actually own the game. I just got done playing Days Gone which is a PS4 game, but it got an upgrade for the PS5 and I REALLY enjoyed this game. It remind me a lot of Red Dead Redemption, however it’s more modern and you have a motorcycle instead of a horse. The amount of Zombies you kill in some of the battles is straight up ridiculous.

  63. Came from the same boat last year after skipping the PS4…. Spider-Man and Last of Us and Last of Us 2 are phenomenal. Platinum’s Spider-Man, beat Last of Us and currently playing Last of Us 2. Next on my list is Horizon and Ghost of Tsushima.

  64. Pretty much top 3 are zero dawn, spider man and ghost of tsushima, also include Rachet and Clank, the last of us and resident evil 8 since re8 takes advantage of ps5's adaptive triggers

  65. You need to play God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, Spiderman and Miles Morales, Ghost of Tsushima, and Nier Automata.
