1. Don’t worry. That file is to route websites to another webserver. It’s routing fake Fitgirl sites to the real webserver, it’s automatically checked at end of setup. I’m surprised you found it, considering you don’t know what it is and it’s hidden very well in the system

  2. Lol my bad. I just did some research after posting this. I came to know they simply added redirection from all fake fitgirl domains to original fitgirl site. I got this wrong.

  3. Feels like less of a favor if the user goes to one of the fake ones religiously after this. And then gets a new machine with a fresh hosts file. Should redirect to a page letting you know it was fake.

  4. It's a redirect to the official Fitgirl site. She did you a favor, chill. You could've uncheck this option while installing. No one reads installers, you just clicked "next, next, next". Older games form Fitgirl now need you to uncheck every option if you want to install them because the links to DirectX and C++ became obsolete.

  5. Given that you just clicked next, next, next. I can only assume you didn't read the installer, since it's listed on there as an option to redirect fake sites to the real one. I can also only assume you will install a trojan at some point, as you just click next, next, next and don't read :D

  6. dumbass didn't read anything on the installer, it literally tells you it will do this and you accepted.

  7. You didn't read the manual that's why. It's harmless this time. Next time try to read things carefully before mindlessly clicking Next.

  8. This is actually anti trojan because now if you click a fake site these rules give you the real one instead even if they try to get you.

  9. At the end of the installation it literally gives you the option to redirect or not redirect fake fitgirl sites to the real one. Not a Trojan

  10. You put a check mark on "redirect fake fitgirl sites", next time read things before you do them. And then it literally says in the file what those things are.

  11. Imagine installing pirated content and not reading the installer that tells you what it's going to do. Just click next next next....

  12. uncheck EVERYTHING except the game folders, including language folders u dont need while downloading the torrent and you good.

  13. Because of this post I just realized I almost downloaded from a fake fitgirl website just now lol (I thankfully did not) since I discovered fitgirl just recently

  14. Lol My bad. I just did some research after posting this. I came to know they simply added redirection from all fake fitgirl domains to original fitgirl site. I got this wrong.

  15. hosts file is something similar to a DNS server but a DNS server in your own computer, let me tell you what is a DNS server. When the internet was invented, it was hard to enter websites because websites has a IP address, you know, the numbers splitted into 4 section with a dot in the middle (

  16. I wouldn't go and throw these accusations at fitgirl when you don't seem to know what you are looking at lmao

  17. There is a checklist at the end of the installation, i don't think you can uncheck it. It says "Redirect to the original fitgirl site". It is the result of that checkbox

  18. Dude when the installer is finished there is an option u can untick if u didn't wanted this to happen. but yeah she includes an option which sets a rule that redirect all fake sites to real one

  19. Lol my bad. I just did some research after posting this. I came to know they simply added redirection from all fake fitgirl domains to original fitgirl site. I got this wrong.
