1. If you knew who he was you wouldn’t be asking what is there for him to do. Why introduce him now? Chase because they have stuff he’s got to help build lol.

  2. As you are well aware, I take no issue if you want to be a jerk to anonymous people online. Blocking someone simply based on the subs they participate is just pathetic though.

  3. As you are well aware I am very aware of how frequently you are being a jerk to others online. So of coarse you have no issues with that. Now, to be clear, he wasn’t ONLY blocked because of what sub he posts in. If that were the case I would have blocked you as well because you are a frequent user there as well and I have no issues with you.

  4. Because big firms and WFH or Hybrid is readily available, firms aren't paying significantly higher salaries for HCOL areas anymore, especially for production level people. That's one of the negatives of the WFH culture people dont want to admit when it works against the employee; you can hire someone literally anywhere, and produce work literally anywhere.

  5. There are instances where firms need employees to be able to travel to job sites or show up to joint venture offices every now and then. I find COL still greatly affects salaries in these cases.

  6. Pfft... Like there was any question about it.

  7. I have to disagree. Some of the high rise buildings I have worked on were more interesting than any bridge imo.

  8. Why would you put Spain and India in the same bin? Totally different experiences working with folks from both places for me.

  9. And here I am. Civil engineer with a 50+ hour per week main gig and a 20+ hour per week side gig. I also have a 1 year old so you ain't got shit on me.

  10. It’d be very difficult for me to lay it all out as I have been quite lazy and haven’t rolled them into a single 401k. I currently have 4 different 401k’s with varying amounts and varying allocations. They are through 3 different companies as well (Voya, Fidelity, and Empower). Having said that the first 2 only account for about 35k of my portfolio.

  11. Yes, you are underpaid. Big time. Even the better offer you got seems low for someone in your position to me.

  12. Let me guess, if we don't like Amazon's Galadriel then we must be misogynistic?

  13. Out of everything you just said, the implication that you think Captain Falcon originates from smash bros is the most off-putting to me.

  14. He was antiracist. And would side-eye the hell out of that comment. Plenty of people in England who are mixed raced and have Anglo-Saxon blood.

  15. Yes, he was anti-racist. He was too humble to think his own works really did hold such significance but they do to many people. You don't even need to have Anglo-Saxon blood to be one of those people. All you need is an appreciation of a culture that was lost during the Norman conquest.

  16. What a load of shilltastic nonsense. The Amazon sub is obviously inorganic. The mods remove or hide just about every negative sentiment expressed.

  17. 100% agree. I have "worked" directly with Kenneth Rosenfield before and can attest to the fact that the only thing he is good for is directing resources to things that don't matter and money into his own pocket. I too worry about the ramifications if he is elected.

  18. alternative psa: take your skills to a normal city that values your contributions if you have any business idea involving retail space.

  19. You are the kind of person that makes this sub shitty. Go away. Blocked.

  20. This sub is overwhelmingly pro SF as it should be. Please for the love of all that is good in our city, grow some thicker skin.

  21. Alternative to your alternative: grow a pair and take action to make things better. There are inherent benefits to living in SF that most people who live in "normal" cities will never know or understand. Are you one of them?

  22. You don't know what you are talking about. Eric Nylund is actually a really great writer. You should read his books.

  23. I wish people hated the Halo tv show as much as they hate RoP

  24. RoP does indeed take the cake for me but I'd still rather eat a dogshit taco than re-watch Halo, Star Trek Discovery, or Picard. What they did with master chief was clearly an intentional destruction of the character imo.

  25. I think you have more opportunities to stay in the technical realm at a large company where at a small company you really need to be managing projects and winning work to keep justifying raises. At a large firm you can usually put yourself on a subject matter expert track and since they likely have larger, more complex projects you can be a technical advisor to other PMs

  26. If you could stop being a jerk to folks that would be terrific.

  27. All I am doing here is pointing out circular logic. If my claim is this thread doesn't appear organic, then citing the comments in the thread as evidence to the contrary is a silly thing to do. It's not like I am attacking anyone's character like mine has been attacked countless times on this sub over the years.

  28. The comment is 15 days old at this point. If you were going to be banned over it you would have been banned over it 15 days ago. We don’t wait until you reply to ban you.

  29. Fair enough. To be clear, I was referring to the reply I sent you last night (the one you have just responded to here).

  30. If you enjoy the show, you will likely have a better time on

  31. Would that make you feel better about yourself? As it happens, my life is pretty awesome. Regardless of our differences, I genuinly hope you have something in your life that brings you as much joy as my wife and kid do for me.

  32. Every generation thinks theirs is the best and the newer ones are bad. Lol this isn't a new thing.

  33. The idiots of every generation perhaps. Every generation has plenty of individuals who are beyond this sort of think too though.

  34. Your class has nothing to do with anything. A $10 door knob can easily be reversed to lock from the outside of the room.

  35. Okay so some door knobs have a hole on the reverse side of the lock. The poster was saying they DID reverse the lock, but the child figured out how to stick a pin into that hole to unlock it.

  36. Are you familar with the fact that you can go buy a new door handle/lock set for cheap that doesn't have the pin feature? The existing mechanism is irrelevant.

  37. Cate isn’t that tall, actually. She always had disco boots under the gowns.

  38. She's 5'9" whereas Clark is 5'4". Definitely noticeable. Disco boots would have been a great idea too, in ROP there was zero effort to make her look tall.

  39. There is some: I believe on the shot in episode 7 where Galadriel and Arondir are overlooking the departing ships, Morfydd is on a platform that was digitally edited out. But I could be misremembering.

  40. Perhaps. Btw, I randomly looked it up and it turns 5'9" is taller than 98.68% of adult women in america. Never would have guessed that.

  41. Let's add a little context to this. First, we need to establish that elves are nowhere near these perfect, rational, and elegant creatures that we like to associate with them. These elves run hot off emotions, act blinded by rage constantly, and disregard council multiple times. They are haughty, prideful, and oftentimes arrogant. They aren't even considered an adult until they are 100. Now Galadriel is much more wise than a lot of the elves, one of the wisest in fact. But this does not exclude her from acting as such. We know for a fact she tried to lie to Melian's face and she ran off from Valinor to rule her own lands regardless of what Mandos said. Now to add context to the show (which is obviously playing things up to create a character arc for her). She left her home early on, watched as one by one everyone she knew, loved, and was related to, was killed by Morgoth, Sauron, and their like. Specifically her last and closest direct relative, her brother Finrod who was specifically killed by Sauron and his wolves. In her eyes, she has no one left for her. She thinks her husband is dead as well, she's holding on to revenge. I have no doubt that her arc will show her letting that go and growing into the wise Galadriel we know in the third age. Thousands of years old for an immortal elf isn't that much. Thingol, Fingolfin, every elf involved with Feanor and his fam, heck even Fingon all were thousands years old and made stupid dumb decisions. And they would have kept doing so into the second age but they didn't survive their stupidity. Galadriel will, and she will change.

  42. Galadriel was not written as stupid and bratty in the second age. Stop lying.

  43. Your comment history is filled with complaints about negativity towards ROP. Get a life.

  44. Ahh yes, let's all just ignore Amazon's dumpster fire of a Tolkien adaptation so they can carry on promoting the new season without worry. Nevermind the fact that Tolkien fans have been waiting over 20 years for more on screen adaptations only to be massively let down and then slandered for feeling that way. ffs
