1. Are we going to have these agonizing updates on the A's abysmal engagement for the entire final season?

  2. How can anyone feel intimidated by a dickhead that wears make-up, lifts in his shoes and shits his pants on the regular?

  3. The problem is some men like Trump can give vague disapprovals that will be interpreted as calls to violence by their followers. The following is the famous first example:

  4. We went to Kitava, the restaurant within the brewery space, and their only non-alcoholic drink options were juice boxes. Like the kind you give pre-school kids. Not all of us drink alcohol so that was an unfortunate oversight.

  5. Yes I knew that. Diesel trains run electric and a generator makes power for it.

  6. The Volt is a low-drag shape and a small frontal area. The Outlander has a much poorer drag co-efficient and is big. (Also, side-by-side, the Volt's silhouette is very close to the Prius -- because that shape is incredibly efficient)

  7. Traffic engineering for decades has prioritized throughput. More cars though an intersection per hour = better. This has resulted in favoring higher speeds and increased fatalities. The original response to this has been improving vehicle engineering - making crashes more survivable. But the data shows a paradox of vehicle safety - safer cars hasn't led to fewer deaths per million miles travelled.

  8. My understanding that these types of roundabouts and roundabouts in general increase throughput while simultaneously reducing speeds, accidents and fatalities. One figure I saw claimed that turbo roundabouts increase throughput by 45%. Instead of half the traffic always stopping, the majority of traffic is only slowing down and merging.

  10. $DJT is not a normal publicly traded company. Investors are betting it survives until inauguration, and Trump wins.

  11. One of the alignments for California High Speed Rail was to connect the Bay Area to the Central Valley via the Dumbarton Bridge through the tri-valley (Dublin, Pleasanton, Livermore) to Tracy. This would have shortened the Bay Area to Sacramento travel times considerably compared to the decided-upon connection through Henry Coe Park between Morgan Hill and Los Banos. But that alignment would have left the South Bay out of the main line, which was politically disadvantageous and may have resulted in the failure of the entire 2008 Prop 1a ballot measure.

  12. Have you ever had jury duty? That's who they're looking for at every trail. Oh you have an opinion, you're dismissed.

  13. Not true, jurors are asked specifics about their experiences and if that would make them unable to be impartial. They are not excused just for having an opinion. (Other than the limited number of peremptory excusals which do not need to be explained)

  14. Please send the recording and.letter to the board. They deserve to know.how people are being treated in their name.

  15. So? The light is red again before the first one even has fully passed the white line

  16. The Bay Area offers up to $9,500 to trade in a gas car and buy a new OR used EV, plug-in hybrid, hybrid, e-bike or transit. There’s also money for charging and an extra $2000 for ‘disadvantaged communities’ as well.

  17. Really challenging to charge your EV if you don't own a home.  My apartment complex doesn't have EV chargers & the cost to charge at most stations is nearly as much as a tank of gas.  When I was looking at buying a car it was cheaper to get a gas vehicle for that reason.  EV's aren't a solution for most of us

  18. The grant covers public charging, but buying a new or used EV isn’t even required. You could buy a hybrid, a plug-in hybrid, or no car at all and use the money for an e-bike or transit fares.

  19. ...In other news, Ohio's Secretary of State warned that Biden wouldn't be allowed on the ballot in November, because "the Democratic national convention will be held after our deadline, which has been violated by both major parties for the last 40 years, but will be enforced only on the Democratic Party this year, because reasons"

  20. As someone who's actually built successful AI(or more accurately, machine learning) models, I can say from experience that the most labor-intensive part of the entire process is usually building a high-quality dataset to train the model on. Outside of a tiny minority of AI/ML researchers doing frontier work on architectures, datasets are where the majority of AI-related labor is.

  21. I mean don't all artists do this? Isn't this the entire reason why human art has ages, because only a very tiny subset of them are actually moving things and 99.9% of other artists are just rehashing art and styles they have seen. Do human artists have to pay everyone who's art they have seen and taken inspiration from. I certainly doubt that if you had a human who had never seen art before, they would just start painting in the neo-impressionist style all on their own.

  22. Yes, many people in the creative fields do not "move" culture and just provide the music, stories, movies, paintings, or other things that everyone enjoys. That does not invalidate them.

  24. Oakland is not the reason the A's are moving.

  25. MLB’s fan base is the oldest of the major American professional team sports. It is in decline and none of them has any idea how to fix it. Everyone’s focused on wringing another nickel out of their piece of the only big American business with an anti-trust exemption.

  26. That’s the B-2 Spirit stealth bomber, nothing to see here.

  27. The B-2 is pretty curvy. Maybe the F-117 Nighthawk (“Stealth Fighter”) is closer?

  28. That long narrow cloud is condensed water vapor from the combustion of fuel from a high-altitude airplane.

  29. Why are the A's still here? How soon can we redevelop the Coliseum site into something that adds to the property tax base and provides housing and jobs?

  30. John Fisher, the owner of the A's also owns a 50 percent stake in the Coliseum. The city of Oakland owns the other half.

  31. Open the latest save file, look for the "position" block in which the "y" is a large number like 3 or more. Objects in the playable space is below that height, even if you store boxes on top of refrigerators/display shelves.

  32. Car roofs are only about 1 square meter, Potential incoming solar energy is about 1kw per meter. Ideal reception would require the PV cell to be within an optimum angle to the sun, and car roofs are curved. In real-world applications, the energy received on car solar roofs are about 100-200w/m.

  33. Scotty Kilmer is that actor in commercials who nearly kills himself doing mundane things, like opening peanut butter. Or opening a cabinet. You know ... morons.
