I think Germany's (or at least Scholz') statements sometimes come across as mealy-mouthed and stubborn, which doesn't help the perception that Germany is dragging their feet. There's a lot of cultural factors at work, too, and Germany tying themselves to Russia on a lot of foreign policy decisions over the last twenty years seems to be the source of a lot of frustration with Germany from Eastern Europe.

As someone that sides more with the democrats and is way too into US political news, I just want to say I think this posturing is actually good for Ukraine. They can talk shit about Biden to connect with their kinda off base, amplifying the acceptance of the message there. And even the fact that they’re saying this is an indication that their base already has a preference and appreciation for Ukraine and is making it known to them. Basically, it is showing that their base is resilient against Tucker/Putin/QAnon BS on this very important topic.
