1. Join the Fed Group Insurance for the salary protection. Go sick for as long as you need.

  2. They removed the age limits to try for selection by the way. I know someone who’s attempting selection again at 37.

  3. I had similar on my transfer - stressed to fuck that some nonsense was going to make me miss the window for tx. Rang the force I was going to, disclosed it and sent them all the paperwork. Got told that they'd keep my transfer going unless the complaint was upheld or escalated to IOPC, which it wasn't and the transfer went ahead as planned. Definitely worth ringing the HR spoc to see how the force you're going to feels about it.

  4. Why earn good money as a civvy plant operator when you could earn shit money and live in condemned housing as an RE plant operator?

  5. Firearms to detective is easy enough. Across the country detectives are critically low in pretty much every force.

  6. ANYTHING to detective is easy, everyone is desperate. It's why you can never mention having an interest in investigations - do it once and two weeks later it's "good news, they need cops on the DV team and you said you were interested, so I've put your name forward"

  7. My local paper either changes officet names slightly or are really incompetent at hearing names read out in court.

  8. On our recent Development Day, on Teams, they insisted on playing a recording of a phone call. Someone who had been repeatedly stabbed, and died on line Their justification was so we could hear the "death rattle." We were told we could mute if we wished ( which, having had such a call, I did.) But I am really angry that anyone thought that was in the slightest bit necessary.

  9. I dunno, I think there's a pretty legitimate training need for people to actually hear agonal breathing because it's absolutely something you need to know about if you're ever at a job to deliver first aid - miss it and the person will almost certainly die. Playing a phone call on teams is undoubtedly a shit way of delivering that as training but 🤷‍♂️ so is NCALT - we're bad at training.

  10. I hope you carry it on when on roundabouts, "not the first, not the first, not the second, not the second, take the third, take the third".

  11. Do your HAMPSHIRE stuff - make sure your 7-point plan gets sorted, boot off if SLT don't get in touch to check in. It's the job's job to look after you so make sure they do it. Talk to supervision or the cops on your team, keep in touch with the OIC for the job (assuming an AEW or assault w/intent to resist has been put on), think about VRR if it gets fucked off because it's too griefy to send to CPS.

  12. Surely you need to accompany the 'police dog' shout with some realistic barking and growling, for the full effect!

  13. Mispers once the drink sets in, either post-domestic or lonely people who struggle on the 25th.

  14. So sad that literally every police officer response sounds like it’s coming from an ego position instead of strength. Showing strength would be to apologise with an explanation.

  15. I think the biggest issue for the cops commenting here is nothing to do with the apology itself - it's that this officer has been ordered to go and apologise, having done nothing wrong.

  16. Straight you your friendly local Fed rep, all day long. If SLT want to go and read out an apology letter for a cop not removing their PPE when attending a violent incident then let them, the silly cunts, but trying to bully a PC into doing it is fucking outrageous.

  17. There is case law on harassment via sending vexatious complaints to an employer, which this might umbrella. I think short strokes is D sent complaints to C's employer and was shown to have known or reasonably suspected they would be shared with C via disciplinary proceedings, harassment was made out and appeal dismissed. It's on PNLD under Kellett v. DPP 2001

  18. If you're working and fear immediate unlawful violence etc. then surely Assault Emergency Worker is made out?

  19. Reserve soldier - Only 1% maximum of the force can be one, but it comes with 10 days extra paid leave for training, lots of opportunities and skills, travelling and a lot of the time, what you do there benefits you for your police role

  20. And, obviously, the benefits of being fucked about and told civvies pay thousands on rest days.

  21. No one even going to mention HereWeGo? My force's WebStorm on the job phone has a little button that brings up for mapping and drops the pin wherever the call is validated to. It's okay, but one thing I do like is that you can set it to always go for the shortest route as the crow flies, which is decent for going on blues when you can mostly mitigate traffic.

  22. I dunno in the Met officers would be quite pleased to see some office guy doing their reports for them

  23. No no - not doing the reports. Making sure things are recorded by emailing the response cops and telling them to put reports on.

  24. Could be worse, if the full P-NOMIS project had gone ahead instead of it being musical chairs'd until HMP were stuck with it I assume we'd all be living in a Mad Max-style wasteland now.

  25. Working from vehicles can absolutely get in the sea unless there's a properly completed risk assessment and suitable equipment in vehicle to facilitate it.

  26. How? The RMP aren’t big enough and i can garuntee most infanteers wouldn’t have a clue

  27. Honestly, even up to the 69 plate ones are fine. The "new" 3-pot / 1 litre astras (which I thinkk you're referring to) are fucking awful. They have no punch, they sound like they're going to blow up, and are just no bueno.

  28. The ones with the weird rectangular steering wheel and the backwards rev counter? HATE.

  29. It’s the new Yorkshire vest. It’s like a traffic warden’s vest

  30. Not sure. I’ve still got my old aegis one

  31. My Safariland is on its third round of repairs because I won't swap it for one of the new ones until it literally rots off my back.

  32. Get them to exhibit it, otherwise you'll be in for wasting a day in court because CPS has called EVERYONE.
