Planetary gear ratios can be a bit tricky compared to a normal gear pair. As you might already know the formula for gear ratio is driven teeth/driving teeth. The output gear RPM will be the input RPM divided by the gear ratio. I'd recommend referencing the below webpage for how to calculate the ratio depending on what gear is driving and being driven in the planetary set. It has examples with numbers so it's pretty easy to understand. If you have additional questions, let me know and I'd be happy to try and explain further.
I came across these steps of adding the number of teeth before, and I tried to use it to solve problems.. however, I tend to get confused midway.. I think it's because I don't really understand why we're adding those numbers.. I've tried looking at derivations, but the ones I've found use relative velocities between gears, which I found very difficult to understand..
