1. I bought few tickets two weeks ago using my amex aeroplan credit card and i did not see anything different when buying the tickets. Even the tickets did not mention that i am eligible for free 1st bags although i knew there is a benefit like that. So am assuming i can get this confirmed only at the time of checking in?

  2. lankan delights lamprais is pretty good :) did you find the pol sambol by the way?

  3. Wife and I have a small incorporated business. We have a TD Infinite Privilege and AMEX Business Platinum, basically whatever can get us 1.25 points per $1. For us it's definitely worth it, we value the points anywhere from 2.5 cents to 7 cents, so we believe we get better value out of Aeroplan than if we were to use regular cashback cards. We basically charge everything to those cards, and balances are paid off weekly.

  4. Is 2x AP points, more like 3% cashback? Assuming you get around 1.5 cents per AP point when converting to pay for flights etc?

  5. We almost always use our points to redeem business or first. Depending on how crafty we can be, sometimes we can get 1 pt to be worth 4 cents, so about 5% cash back. Best we ever redeemed was first in Etihad from BKK, AUH, IAD for 130k points. For that particular flight, I think we were getting about 7 cents per point.

  6. Thats a really good deal! Never knew business and first class conversion rates are better than economy πŸ˜€

  7. And something similar for Canada too 😊

  8. Or they need a card for actual travel purchases. Cobalt has no cancellation/interruption insurance for example and fx fee so I can rarely use it for actual travel purchases even though earn rate is 2x

  9. How about the amex aeroplan card?

  10. Thats a good idea! Do u get the 2500 bonus points when you get a supplement card as well?

  11. I find the best value of the Cobalt is the transfer to Aeroplan. Usually once a year (often in fall), there is a 20% transfer bonus (but I don't think they had one last year). Wait for that moment to transfer points if you can.

  12. What do you think about transfer of points to use at hotel accommodations etc? Is the best return obtained when converted to Aeroplan?

  13. Isnt the TD aeroplan card better?

  14. Any website like House sigma or realtor. Ca which has new build houses/condos? Thank you

  15. Hi, i was approached by CMI few days ago, and did some google search and found this subreddit. Since this was started an year ago, has anyone had any bad experiences with CMI MIC? They promised me a 8% annual return as well with medium risk. Any tips would be greatly appreciated 😊 TIA

  16. Anyone dealt with CMIMIC.CA? Are they reliable to invest with? Thanks!

  17. Hey there! πŸ‘‹ It's great to hear that you're able to save some money after your mortgage payments and other expenses. Congratulations on your first condo purchase in Mississauga! As for your question, it really depends on your financial goals and priorities.

  18. It's a very difficult question to answer over a comment, mainly because of the nature of investment. What if you purchase a second home and recession hits? As it's very uncertain right now! I would suggest you to find a savings account with higher yield which can be a backup for your first mortgage. If you already have enough savings as backup then you can choose other safe investments like gold, bonds, etc. Talk to professional investors they'll guide you and you can choose what's suitable for you.

  19. Thank you for the the tips, and yes I applied got a refund 😊

  20. The signed PSA by both buyer and seller mentions that the Monthly Management few includes hydro, water and heat. However, when i checked with the Condominium management company they mentioned that hydro is not included in the fee. Hence the difference.

  21. Life outside Sri Lanka is much better πŸ˜‚

  22. It's more important to know how auditors think and the challenges they face with data acquisition, normalization, transformation, reporting, etc. rather than knowing the codification or audit standards, we consult with SME's for the technical accounting concepts and methodology to make sure our tools line up with firm policy, audit standards, PCAOB inspections, etc. However, I have built several tools by myself leveraging my accounting knowledge

  23. What's the best course you recommend for a CPA who wants to learn data analytics /data science?

  24. Is the CDL better with whole milk?

  25. If you can buy within your means then of course go for it. But if economy is slowing and the threat of recession hangs over us like a dark cloud, be financially ready to carry a mortgage for 6-8 months while unemployed due to layoffs. Not many people on reddit point out that if there was a housing β€œcrash” the ripple effect is joblessness across many industry sectors.

  26. True, makes sense.. Thank you 😊

  27. How much of a down payment do you have and how much are you approved for with your mortgage broker?

  28. 100k down, and mortgage is around 350k

  29. you can overcontribute up to 2000 without a penalty

  30. Thank you, yes I was under the impression that the RRSP contribution limit is 27k for everyone but later realised it depends on the person.

  31. Why is ARKK going down like shit πŸ˜…good time to buy?

  32. My account balance is not updated too
