1. Leaving out the fact that you were a graphic designer is pretty disingenuous and basically invalidates the entire story. Having a sense of balance and control that is honed by a graphic design background allowed you to appreciate the original work in the first place, then copy the design. It doesn’t matter if it’s a different medium. Also, you know the “language” that people at a gallery speak, much more so than a random person off the street.

  2. Often times, a graphic design curriculum includes fine arts and painting, so it is a little misleading. I’m a total outsider, however I occasionally paint and support myself as a decorative house painter. This post has me thinking. Op probably has a networking advantage as well.

  3. Not a huge fan of the office either but I feel like watching a "funniest bits" complication on YouTube is a poor way to assess a show. Often the humor comes from knowing the characters and throwbacks so without that context yeah, you won't laugh

  4. Not since CD101.1, CD102.5, CD92.9 left town. Oh there is NPR, and the other one that the Columbus Public Schools pays for (for some odd reason).

  5. The crazy part is how much this all really comes down to our two party system, plus gerrymandering/districting.

  6. As a Yngwie fan, and life long guitarist I love your answer because it's not wrong, but it also proves how ahead of his time he was. Everything about this guy was ahead of his time (or behind the time if you consider his wardrobe lol), but creatively he was mostly boring (after his first 2 or 3 albums). This isn't made better by the fact that he was/is an alcoholic. His playing just drones on you. Scale patters over and over are not an acceptable phrasing crutch.

  7. No one else has listed this attribute so far, so I might as well mention it here: scalloped neck

  8. Am I wrong for thinking that op could have picked better times to be intimate? It never had to be an all or nothing proposition between having sex and spending time with the boyfriend’s family.

  9. Unpopular opinion, but I agree. Reddit is annoying in the way its an echo chamber of everyone agreeing w each other so they're not downvoted into oblivion.

  10. I know/thanks. I can’t imagine being this entitled, but at the same time I accept that opinions vary.

  11. Hairstyle origins: Mike says it happened by accident. He was a hairdresser and was at a show and had his hair teased up Ziggy Stardust/David Bowie style. A groupmate wanted to share some mirror space and pushed Mike’s hair down in the front. The band’s manager was trying to rush them to the stage so there was no time to fix his hair in the front by pushing it back up. People in the crowd that night pointed at Mike and loved the strange look. After that show, the band chatted and decided to try it again to see if it would get the same reaction. It did. And when a little girl climbed on the stage, touched Mike’s hair and fainted, that sealed the deal. Mike says, “To me, that was like ‘You’ve got something here.'”

  12. None of those things have to do with anything here lol

  13. Tucker once was a panelist on a show called the McLaughlin Group. What we are missing for context is the 30-60 seconds of laughter from the rest of the panel after and during Tucker’s dumbass rants.

  14. People don’t really realize this for whatever reason but 3/4 of Led Zeppelin played on this album plus Jeff Beck and possibly others.

  15. Just trying to imagine how many Presidents wouldn’t be considered racist by modern standards. Also with the evolution of attitudes towards racism, how racist are modern people by future standards?

  16. Why would people do that when they can just lazily blame Trump?

  17. Trump could shoot someone on 5th Avenue so it’s not like it matters at this point.

  18. Evan Longoria saving a reporter by catching a foul ball bare handed.

  19. Larry David saving a guy from death row at a Dodgers game, that actually did happen.

  20. I remember Ohio State had that old guy that got drafted I think by the Trailblazers. That’s the last time I remember anything about Ohio State basketball besides LeBron claiming he would have gone there if he had to go to college….looked it up Greg Oden.

  21. Thank you for saving that table. It may have been a writing table with a space for a typewriter. It’s a beautiful example of figured oak, some matching veneer, really very nice imo.

  24. Winskdaesh, men in women’s, beautiful in so many ways battle of Gettysburg. Yeah, sure, and General Lee.

  25. A lie is a lie…sometimes it’s easier to provide a quick false explanation because it takes less time and some information is strictly my personal business that other people don’t need to know.

  26. What's better about 1500 tress than modern trees?

  27. Judaism is windows 95, Christianity is windows 98, Islam is windows XP.

  28. This is how I felt about XP but then I switched back to using Apple when it stopped being supported. I’m not sure where the analogy goes from there other than Apple clearly isn’t Buddhist.

  29. This was promoted by the “Popular Entertainment Committee” at a university venue, possibly in New Mexico. Nowadays, the U sold the rights to the major networks and everyone is on the take.
