1. I have an idea for my first tattoo, but am struggling to find a local artist with the style I'm looking for, or even how to properly describe it. While searching online, I came across a non-tattoo artist that I like and was thinking of commissioning them to draw a design for me. My hope is to use the design 1) to help me find a tattoo artist and 2) as an inspiration piece for the tattoo artist. Is that a crazy idea?

  2. Not crazy, but oftentimes artists won’t tattoo someone else’s design. It’s usually different if it’s like you want a character from an anime, a scene, something like that. But since you are going to commissioning someone to put their art and creativity into a design, a tattoo artist isn’t just a tattooing machine. They’ll typically want to do something they designed.

  3. I think my issue is that I'm not sure how to articulate the style I am looking for. I live in the Washington DC area, so there are so many shops to research (hoping to stay within a few hours drive), and I haven't been able to find an artist that does what I'm looking for.

  4. I see you posted this 4 hours ago and haven't had a response, so I'm just dropping by to say your plan is a good plan and you're on the right track. My kid's daycare teacher is so nice and takes all my advice about my weird kid, so it's definitely worth a convo about "This is what my kid is internalizing and acting out at home, how do we make it more positive?"

  5. I have been asking and doing that for a few years now, which is why I'm applying to other places. However, I would genuinely like to get some formal leadership training, and it would be great to be able to easily convey that training on my resume.

  6. I believe an immature pine warbler. Here's a good image for comparison:

  7. That could be it! 😊 I usually assume yellow = warbler, but I'm not familiar with New England birds.

  8. Our 16 month old (at the time) got RSV (and the flu and a cold) her first week of daycare, and we ended up at the ER twice and then overnight at the hospital. I would explain you called her pediatrician who recommended staying home through the weekend.

  9. I would have done the same. A 5% raise wouldn't even cover the additional commuting costs for me.

  10. Ours provides diapers, wipes, creams and everything else. You can provide your own if you want, but need to sign a form. We really appreciate the convenience.

  11. That wasn't scabbers, that was just a rat brought in by mcgonagal. Didn't they all have rats?

  12. Same. I tried for a couple of weeks, but I had a low supply. Luckily, I only got a few items to get started, so not a huge waste.

  13. Swaddles without velcro (so basically just receiving blankets). Who the hell wants to do baby origami in the middle of the night and then have anxiety about loose fabric if it comes undone!?

  14. We had the opposite issue. Bought/were gifted a bunch of Velcro swaddles, but could only get the blanket swaddles to work. 🤦‍♀️

  15. We transitioned to one nap at 10 months, but LO (now 15 months) has always had low sleep needs.

  16. I think my biggest concern would be what else he doesn't realize is appropriate. A lot has changed since our parents were parents (and some may not have even been following guidelines with us). My parents took a (virtual) grandparent training offered through the hospital before LO was born, which I think was helpful for them.

  17. We have been on a wait list for about nine months now with no clear end in sight.

  18. I need to show this to my husband so he can stop saying I dress like a bum (old, oversized college sweatshirt and running shorts). Turns out I'm accidentally fashionable! 😂

  19. I don't think I ever ate a meal alone at home when I was growing up as my parents made family meal times a priority. My parents would get up around 4/5 to get ready for work, then we would eat around 6, and I think out the door by 7/7:30.

  20. It got better around 4 months for us when LO moved to her own room and was sleeping through the night.

  21. Mine is a year. I have no intention of leaving my job, but damn.

  22. Mine is also a year, and it was on one of the forms I had to sign.

  23. Oops! I guess I’m ignorant in anime. I guess just every one I’ve watched is violent or has sexual content. I’ll have to widen my knowledge. Thank you!

  24. I would recommend looking into Dr Stone, Food Wars, and Initial D. They're each very different, non-violent, and non-sexual. I suppose you could say Food Wars is a bit sexual, but only because it pokes fun at that stereotype.

  25. This is what I discovered yesterday. Our 5 month old has become impossible to change now that he’s learned he’s able to roll away. Yesterday I panicked and handed him the thermometer and he was absolutely fascinated by it but it worked for the rest of the day. I’m sure today I’ll need to find some other electronic we don’t typically allow him to touch.

  26. Ours also loves the butt cream tube, the pack of diaper wipes, another diaper... really anything I tend to keep away from her. 🤦‍♀️

  27. Our (soon to be 🤞) daycare provides food for toddlers, but you have to provide your own for infants. I think it's about $2.5k/month (DC-metro area).
