I take the Spear all the time. And yea, it doesnt work well. It is inconsistent. Obstructed, unobstructed, above, below, level. I once destroyed a fabricator connected to a jammer while trying to kill a Hulk. The Hulk was infront of me. Behind the Hulk was a rock that totally obstructed my view of the fabricator. The lockon locked the fabricator somehow taking the Jammer with it... I died to Hulk... 10/10, one of my top 3 startagem guns.
I guess I'm lucky, I take it all the time and rarely have issues with it. in one 2 hour session last night (4 level 7 missions against bots) it refused to lock on twice, out of dozens of uses. i was using it for anti-air and anti-large so it was being constantly used.
isnt a "hit point" originally derived from wargames about how many torpedoes it takes to sink a boat or something? So originally 1hp meant you could tank 1 torpedo explosion.
