1. Look, I know it must be difficult being a kid, not a lot of schemes... But, you know, I'm not the borough. I wish I was, but...

  2. Um? I have no idea what you're going on about.

  3. This isn't a metal though, it is a ceramic that includes aluminium along with oxygen and nitrogen and has the chemical structure AlON

  4. https://phys.org/news/2009-07-transparent-aluminium-state.html

  5. This is something different to AlON, as this is just irradiating aluminium with an extremely powerful laser which makes it transparent for about 15 femtoseconds (1.5e-14 seconds) it isn't a permanent state.

  6. Ah, ok. Thanks for the information / feedback.

  7. Even just waiting for a few seconds to enter a roundabout can slow you enough for cars going 5mph slower than you to catch you while you wait.

  8. Your point? If they were going 5mph slower than you 10 miles back then it's more than likely there are now other cars between you and them. Over time that gap will continue too increase as more traffic gets between you and them.

  9. I don't disagree that *a lot* of SUVs these days are pretty shitty for it. But that extra 2 inches of clearance is a big deal lol.

  10. Some don't have 2 inches extra clearance though. Also, why use archaic units for measuring distance? Why not 5cm?

  11. Your point? I wouldn't necessarily disagree. I am just pointing out some of the annoyances with them.

  12. Isn't that simply public domain at this point? So it's fair game I think, from a legal perspective.

  13. mostly waiting on "new" parts from somewhere, in the correct colour (or they'd have to strip the paint and repaint it to match, which they'd have to do anyways for a good section of the vehicle).

  14. If oyu like TA you should check out Beyond All Reason. It's free, in active development, and already plays pretty well.

  15. Pretty obvious, really. Of course they are risky. But it's not the smart motorway part that is the problem; that is good. The problem is removing the hard shoulder.

  16. Increasingly they have to use air ambulance to get to RTA pile ups. As you rightly point out the roads can be totally blocked by such incidents.

  17. Yep, makes sense, because it's the only practical way now. But how many units are available? And ho wmuch must that cost? It's absurd, IMO.

  18. Yea I am looking at jobs and basically use my weekend and commute time looking and applying.

  19. It's not your problem if they are giving unrealistic workloads. You have defined hours, stick to them.

  20. Why are you working so many hours beyond your contracted hours? This doesn't make sense. It is fine on occassion, something happened or a special task reuires a bit extra time; but if it's routing then it's wrong.

  21. Yes it is. It's still a discount. But it might not be a saving for you as an individual.

  22. At that money if I wanted an offroad capable big SUV I'd just find a Merc G Wagon and be done with it.

  23. Why no Volvos in the list? I feel like if you want an affordable, reliable, safe estate then a Volvo should definitely be in the mix. And quite possibly a SAAB too.

  24. ....why wouldn't it be legal? They are assessing the risk that you statistically represent and then offering a price. It makes much more sense than simply not offering a policy. At least this way you can choose to accept it or not.

  25. Okay mate, £36k for a car worth £1800. I can write my car off 18 times before that price is mathematically worth it 🤣

  26. Or you could hit a building and burn it down, or hit a pedestrian and kill them, or hit a bus full of kids and injure all of them, or hit a super car.... etc.

  27. For those of us who don't could you please explain?

  28. Not in UK, but apparently America still sells a lot of them...I don't think I've seen a top-loader here since I was around 5yo, and I'm in my 40's, but apparently my Aunt & Uncle in America have a top-loader...

  29. Yep, and they suck. I had a top loader about 10 years ago in the US. It was rubbish. It didn't even have a proper dispenser for fabric softener.

  30. Our GE front loader washes so much better and uses let's detergent, water, and electricity then any of the top loaders we had.

  31. Before the Internet walkthroughs could be downloaded on BBSs, Bulletin Board Systems.

  32. Erm.... what? Where do you live? Because here we have speed cameras...

  33. Come on, man. I'm just trying to get more info about it.. I mainly wanted to figure out what the wire/cable is and whether aftermarket seals are good enough replacements.

  34. If that is what you wanted to work out then why isn't that what you asked?

  35. Never really had debt except student loan and for a while a mortgage (but I now rent), but I definitely feel like it would be stressful to have debt. I would be much more stressed about making sure I could pay bills etc, especially as for a while I was unemployed.
