1. Dark Angels were initially Native American themed

  2. ...If I had to guess which chapter may have been Native American themed, DA would have been at the bottom of the list, just above the ultramarines. I'm assuming the monk robes, the knightly orders, and the winged hussar aesthetic came much later.

  3. Wukusi is not more compact. It has internal padding and a large shell. It just has more mobility on the shoulders compared to spes trinity style overlays. Not sure of your current supfen overlay but you could try and get more compact with the supfen pro overlay style overlay and it'll be cheaper than a wukusi by a longshot. But I don't know if bulkiness is the issue, can you zwerch fine in just a fencing mask and no overlay? Better to test that before buying new gear

  4. Seconded. In terms of protection, I really like the design choices of the Wukusi mask, but it is in no way compact.

  5. Also, can’t return without sold soul

  6. I think the problem with this is that 40k plays too loosely with the concept of what a soul is. Yes, chaos is playing on the classical trope of bartering away your soul, but what does that actually mean in the context of 40k? Your animus? Blanks have traditionally described as not having souls being the source of their abilities, but that's clearly not accurate. A stone has no soul, but leaves no impression in the warp. But if we take this at face value, blanks are clearly sentient and capable of independent thought, despite "not having a soul".

  7. The thing is they place emphasis on “scrawny”, so the purpose definitely isn’t fighting

  8. He also says "betting their fortunes" though? This indicates there is some sort of a competition where there is something to be gained. Scrawny makes perfect sense, in a physical competition being scrawny is a disadvantage. How else can this be interpreted?

  9. The thing about present day LLMs is that they are very vulnerable to, for lack of a better term, being gaslit. Chatgpt will basically go along with whatever you're suggesting given enough time. It's great if you're writing a report and think that the tone isn't quite right or that certain parts needs to be greater emphasized, but if you're suicidal and are using an LLM as a therapist it's very easy to guide it into spitting out "yes, suicide IS the solution to all your problems" or words to that effect, and that's just not going to fly.

  10. I wouldn't say it's about gaslighting. Many LLMs are (afaik) designed to be very agreeable. This generally makes them very good listeners/conversation partners because the replies they give are very affirming. Understandably this can be a problem if the topic in question is controversial.

  11. I live in the tropics, and books tend to keep very badly here. Instead of spending money on books that will eventually just yellow, I've mostly moved to ebooks. Admittedly I still think a nice paper book feels the best, but the trade-offs of a much smaller and lighter form factor, a backlight for night reading, being able to highlight interesting passages, and being able to effortlessly bring around thousands of books do make up for it.

  12. Huh, pretty interesting. Not the OP but I might take a look! This is probably an unpopular opinion but I wish people went for less heavy-handed remasters rather than total remakes. Like the original soulstorm was a bit dated and jank, yeah, but it still feels like I'm playing a professionally made game. Playing UA feels like I'm playing somebody's fanfic with little thought given to game/visual design or balance.

  13. That's my goal honestly, I love the fanfic mods, but I always find myself returning to the vanilla game. My goal with this mod is to upscale things, remove pixelation and low quality textures, but stay ultimately true to the base game!

  14. Very nice! I was coincidentally on this subreddit because I was replaying the game and wondered if anyone had remastered the textures, and found

  15. I mean, they do mention that they're using some kind of "armour-piercing shot", but am I only one who thought that a storm shield + artificer armour would hold up to more than two bolt pistols?

  16. If you slay a great unclean one in close combat as a mortal, you are dead. The diseases will kill you in minutes.

  17. Honestly, depending on the strength of the daemon, I think most regular humans might not survive a close encounter, even if they kill it.

  18. Idk, the more I learn about Lorgar through the HH lore, the more I don't feel like he is that figure. He seeks the "truth" and pursues his own ends, at times over the whims of the gods - he is a scholar and a priest, but he's no warmaster.

  19. This article is actually a nothing burger if you look for the finer details (which there are none). It's a nice plea to get more funding though.

  20. Which is more or less how he describes himself now. He's slowed down but he's still better than almost everyone in the galaxy.

  21. A little ominous considering that's the exact position Sigismund was in. Slowed him down just enough to be mortal, but it was enough.

  22. it would have been really cool if after the meeting with the dragons Zuko's fire would always be multicolored.

  23. Someone edited the last Agni Kai to have Zuko bending rainbow fire and it looked freaking epic. I think it also would have been good to do in the original show, evem if they had Zuko bend normal red/orange fire outside of Sozin's Comet's influence. But during the last Agni Kai it would symbolize and emphasize the difference in his and Azula's firebending. Her's is blue because it's pure fire, honed and refined to a deadly degree without being touched, tainted, or influenced by anything else. But Zuko's is multicolored and ultimately stronger because of its impurities. He takes influence, wisdom, and power from all the nations and uses it to strengthen his firebending to the point that it completely overwhelms Azula, which is exactly what happens in the fight.

  24. I think I prefer the exact opposite - I would rather that he would never be able to do it. I don't think that Zuko's fire needs to change like he got some power-up from witnessing the dragons. It's not the colorful, magical fire that changes Zuko. It's the understanding that fire can be more than anger and destruction that changes Zuko. The colors just helped him to understand it. I don't even think the multicolored fire should be considered more inherently "powerful" in any sense. It's just a display of sheer firebending control.

  25. He wields power and control over stupid followers for his own personal gain.

  26. Is this "his personal gain" assuming he is God or man? If it assumes he is God then it makes no sense - if he wanted worship he could definitely be a lot more involved. If it assumes he was a man... Did you read about the horrifying death he suffered? If he was primarily concerned with personal gain, surely he would have leveraged his influence to not die in such a terrible way.

  27. Can't say if it's a known issue or not, but I haven't really heard any complaints about this. All I can say as another base S24 user is that I use GPS very frequently and haven't encountered this problem.

  28. Great for sidesword and sabre, I'd go as far to say they are the best available gloves for sidesword

  29. After all the posts about the difficulties acquiring the material and manufacturing the gloves, it's made in Pakistan?

  30. I'm no surgeon, but some googling seems to indicate that he had a heart surgery in 1997 for a congenital heart defect, and the following surgeries were intended to replace the replacement (that was never intended to be permanent).

  31. I disagree. I think it’s the exact opposite problem. Until we’re 25ish, there’s very clearly defined goals for us, and we’re told how to get there. You’re told to get into a good college. To do that, get good grades and play sports. To do that, study hard and exercise, etc.. There are very clearly defined milestones.

  32. Excellent breakdown - I was thinking the same thing! The school system sets up a very clear structure and reward system that we come to rely on. We do the things assigned to us, and are rewarded and affirmed if we do them well. If you had a bad year, there's always the yearly reset. I get for a lot of people, school wasn't the best time of your life, but even just having a fixed group of friends around to while time away with is a luxury you don't always get in adulthood.

  33. I had a similar experience at Knott’s. In the afternoon they have discount tickets so a bunch of unsupervised kids go there right after school. It turned from a nice day to some lord of the flies shit in the span of an hour. Kids just straight up pushing past people in line with this “what are you going to do about it, beat up a teenager?” Attitude. Staff didn’t give a fuck and I wasn’t about to end up on YouTube chucking tweens off the log fume ride so they just did whatever they wanted for the rest of the evening like some teenage version of a street takeover.

  34. If they think they can get away with that attitude, one day they're going to mess with the wrong people and they're going to get seriously injured or worse.

  35. I'm not at all suggesting this is what happens to everyone. I'm saying it is unfortunate when it does happen, and it does happen. I think limit-testing is actually a very ordinary part of human development, which is why teenagers are the way that they are. But fostering a culture where any kind of conflict or pushback is avoided leads to situations where some never learn limits, and others snap in extreme ways.

  36. DEF shred gets non-linearly more effective the more you have. It's also dependent on enemy level. The baseline for one point of %DEF is about half its value in damage amp (e.g. 1% damage shred = 0.5% extra damage taken). The hard cap is that 100% DEF shred is close to a 110-115% damage amp on the average level 90 boss.

  37. Thanks for the numbers! Seems slightly underwhelming tbh, but I guess I'll keep it in my pocket for my quantum set teams. If you don't mind me asking, what do you mean by:

  38. With no other boosts and assuming a single attacker, 1% DMG is almost always superior to 1% DEF shred. But the fact that most damage dealers already use a %DMG orb or have other sources of %DMG make it messy, and getting DEF shred is typically worth considering. Not because it's exponential scaling or "way stronger the more you have", but simply because it's a fresh multiplier instead of adding to your %DMG source.

  39. Jing Yuan coping with it by putting Yanqing down the same path he went.

  40. There's nothing particularly wrong or unusual about the path he took. The tragedy of the high-cloud quintet was neither caused nor exacerbated by Jing Yuan. He was merely a witness to it.

  41. Crackpot theory: He failed to kill Corax as Curze ordered him to do.

  42. Is that really worthy of censure though? Considering how easily Curze went through the loyalist marines during the time of the imperium secundus, it feels like wishful thinking to expect an astartes to take down a primarch. Not that Curze is the most reasonable of primarchs, mind you, but that sounds like petty perturabo shit.

  43. I think it depends entirely on your own use case. It's a very common concern when already buying an expensive item to want it to be as future-proof as possible, but it's probably best to get some perspective and not overdo it.

  44. Pretty interesting, but what was Trazyn trying to achieve on Cadia? I assume he was there to observe and collect specimens, but why interfere? Also from the excerpt it seems like Cerantes commanded two Contemptors? Or were they just hallucinations of the past?
