1. Good news! We were able to duplicate the alien technology to get the astronauts to Beta Centari in just 15 minutes!

  2. Good news! We invented the cruciform and will have them back in three days!

  3. There should be a catchy slogan. I propose "Most, if not a totality of constables were born as illegitimate children." It can be spray painted around as an acronym MINATOCWBAIC.

  4. Actually, it's pronounced mill-e-wah-KAY. It's Algonquin for "No Justice, No Peace"

  5. I was actually going to make a joke about how the acronym sounds like a town in Wisconsin, but I couldn’t get it to work. I went to a wedding in Oconomowoc once.

  6. Damn...I missed out on it, then. It looks like it was 2 year old inventory that they couldn't move.

  7. You can buy a brand new one with hydraulic disc brakes for 1950. This price is delusional.

  8. Where are you seeing a TCR advanced with a carbon frame for $1950? I’d buy it. The cheapest I’m seeing them listed for is $2800.

  9. I’ve eaten there half a dozen times and just got the pun. I’m a genius.

  10. It is super cool AND I don’t understand why the reveal video is the most horror movie way they could have revealed it. The unnatural movement immediately created uneasy feelings that can put people on edge, which seems like the opposite of what they’d want to do.

  11. People really don't want to live in Illinois!

  12. I moved away from downstate Illinois in 2005. Most of my family has either left the area or died. The ones that have moved either hate that the state is blue and leave for somewhere red or hate that downstate is red and leave for somewhere blue. The rest of my family that's left can't afford to move. The lack of opportunity just hollows it out more. There wasn't any opportunity for kids 20 years ago and it hasn't gotten better.

  13. Sucks there is no US round, but it was expected after the talk of moving to a more condensed World Cup calendar. Hopefully the US round is not gone forever. I'm surprised there is no Tabor, maybe just taking a year off after Worlds?

  14. There was a period from about 2006 to 2018 where there was a big push to popularize cross in the US. That's when I really got into it. You had the 2013 World Championship here. I know there were the 2022 Arkansas Worlds, but that was really the last of it and had been planned for so long.

  15. I agree, there’s nothing luxurious about plastic floors, but marketing works

  16. We have an ADU and I installed LVP myself. It’s super easy to do. I bought the highest quality I could get and I hate it. I was considering it for my house when we have to redo the floors, but I’ll go with engineered hardwood 100% after living with LVP for over a year.

  17. Something about it just looks and feels cheap to me. Maybe it's that I've seen it in so many awful flips.

  18. Cycling is a great method for getting in steady state training. I’m a rower and it’s by far the most comfortable way to stay in your hr zone. I imagine F1 drivers have to do a lot of steady state training to get their aerobic threshold up for the long races. This could be one reason for it.

  19. Not sure if you know, but Bottas' partner is a pro cyclist and he's done really well in amateur cycling events that he's entered.

  20. My Microsoft print to PDF is all fucked up gotta go load up on $500 iTunes cards to get help again

  21. God, that plot point (Aenea's age) is probably the worst part of the entire series. It could fixed by either making her older or Raul younger, but still weird, man. On the other hand, the Space Pope is a stroke of genius IMO. That second half of the series is such a mixed bag.

  22. Weirder when you find out that Dan Simmons was a grade school teacher before becoming a full time author. It reads like gross wish fulfillment, which is a shame because the Dures plot is incredible.

  23. I work at a ford store and there hasn’t been a Mach-e sold above MSRP for over a year. I call bs.

  24. Around me they’re being advertised 10% under msrp and there are 200+ on autotrader within 50 miles. I was really surprised to see them saying it was going over so that makes sense that it’s BS.

  25. He was REALLY rough to start. He didn't know how to explain the games, he didn't have a good rapport with anyone, and he didn't feel like he had ownership or control of what was going on.

  26. You're officially "Drew Carey has hosted The Price is Right for almost 17 Years" old.

  27. I know, right? He’s now been hosting longer than Bob Barker had been hosting it when I started watching it when I was a kid.

  28. But if your breaker box is that close I would add a 220 outlet and rewire the saw motor. Again if I understand correctly it halves the amps. So lower draw and heat

  29. Can’t just rewire the motor for 220v on this saw. You’ll destroy the brains. You need an updated contractor box assembly. If you just rewire the motor like you can most other dumb tools, you’ll fry the brains of the saw and it’ll be much more expensive to repair. I have my saw and upgraded it and it works great.

  30. Point is though, if you buy it and want to re-sell, will your buyer believe you if you don’t have authentication? Sure, it was purchased from muscle shoals, but who’s to say it wasn’t way back in the storage room there and only got pulled out for a couple sessions and actually was never used by any of the people mentioned on the label? Too easy to make shit like that up lol like all that had to be done to get you to believe it’s legit is for somebody to write a little message on the label….

  31. Best would be to find session photos that feature the amp in the background or something. Then show markings that identify it as the same amp. The more documentation to verify provenance the better. Otherwise it’s an old amp that is cool but there’s no premium on top of market price.

  32. My house backs up to an on ramp for a major highway. So we do get some road noise, but nothing too bad. We had some really nice weather the other, so my wife and I were sitting out on the deck reading and having a drink and enjoying the weather. For about an hour straight a parade of the loudest modified cars drove behind our house, making it impossible to have a conversation without yelling. I was so angry that I was contemplating doing car terrorism, calling my local government to complain, booby traps, everything. The police are worthless, even if the law says the cars can’t be excessively loud, it’s not enforced. Just incredibly frustrating.

  33. Unless car exhausts are modified, above a certain speed tire noise is MUCH louder than the engine. Have you ever sat on your deck at 5AM on a Sunday morning? If not, I'd bet you'd be absolutely shocked at how much quieter it is. We just tend to filter out the white noise of tires on pavement because it's so pervasive.

  34. Oakridge is two hours away but probably closer to what you’re looking for than k-falls.

  35. Those Amazon vans are starting to be pretty common, they’re pretty neat honestly. Perfect application for an electric vehicle

  36. The Amazon facility near me has completely switched over, I think. I don’t remember the last time I saw an ICE Amazon truck. They’re all EV.

  37. Plus other countries have recently demonstrated the ability to shoot down satellite, and well, we need those. Gotta build a defense strategy.

  38. This is as good excuse as any for building a moon base. Satellites are essentially defenseless. If our comms and GPS is knocked out we could have redundant communication systems on the moon. It wouldn’t be anywhere near as good as LEO satellites, but at least you could defend it, in theory.

  39. This is how I always felt with Toyota. You just look at their lineup of vehicles and they price them at almost every range. Then when you look at many trim levels and hybrids they overlap. It's like Toyota knows they can compete with themselves. It's just upselling.

  40. That's true. They know they don't need to worry about cannibalization because brand loyalty is so high that most of the time you're getting a Toyota product no matter what. I wonder if it also has something to do with them not offering factory custom orders.

  41. https://www.reddit.com/r/ToyotaTundra/comments/14xdlux/comment/jro0mix/

  42. Seems like the product code is right, guess it just carried on being called that

  43. It's odd that they dropped the Les Paul name from the TV but kept it for the Junior. It's the same guitar with a different finish. They even sold it at the same price.

  44. Id hazard a guess and say that they had plenty of stocks of those already built and badged as it’s described as a ‘best seller’ and the TV, as a new finish option was probably a later build completion

  45. It does depend. Obviously in the US a taxi is your only realistic option (even in NYC when I've flown into LaGuardia a taxi made more sense because the subway doesn't go there). But even a city like Beijing a taxi makes sense because they're so cheap.

  46. I used to live in Chicago and had co-workers and colleagues come in for conferences and meetings. They would fly into and out of O'Hare and the meetings would be downtown. The Blue Line was a five minute walk from the office and it takes you directly into the airport. It was so convenient. It was faster and SO much cheaper than taking a taxi/uber. I suggested people take the train to the airport dozens of times and people looked at me like I was crazy. Not once did anyone take me up on it. They didn't seem to understand that 75% of the people in the office took the train every day into the office.

  47. Family of four, here. We have two Fits (our only cars.) Have had Fits the whole time we've had kids, who are now 6 and 8. Don't buy the US lie that you need a larger car. We've done a two week roadtrip (with camping) in the Fit and it was great. Our kids LOVE that they can see clearly out the rear windows. Many cars have higher rear windows, which block the view, so kids get bored (but, don't worry...they'll upsell you a rear seat video system.) Visibility for them lowers boredom and motion sickness.

  48. I have a family of four and a big dog. With a roof rack and rooftop box, we can pack enough for a week away in the car. We couldn’t do it without the box. I think it’s an essential purchase. It’s not cheap, but if you look used, you can find a deal.

  49. What EIL5 why? I have never heard this? Is it just getting your affairs in order?

  50. Basically, yeah. You have a year to claim the prize. You want to get your legal, management, and accounting team in place before coming out in public. In Oregon the winners’ names are announced so you want to make sure you have everything locked down beforehand for your financial and physical security.
