1. Is milk really exploiting animals? Ol bessy is just earning her keep

  2. I think it's fair to be against Peta, but I just wanted to grabbed a quick summary of some of the concerns in the dairy industry, and they did well here.

  3. You know, your wife could make the same post, if she quit her job tomorrow she could live off your income while she worked on pet projects and not be in too big a hurry to find a job.

  4. You Americans got some strange laws. It‘s illegal to have an open bottle in the backseat/trunk/passenger seat of your car?

  5. Reminder most traffic laws in the US are based on the State so there are 50 different answers to this, but generally trunk is fine, passenger compartments is the issue. Generally the driver or passengers cannot be consuming alcohol while driving. However, the American in your joke is going to be fine, because DUI is based on Blood Alcohol Consentration, and one swig is not getting you anywhere near a BAC of .08, sorry I don't know what that is in metric ¯\(ツ)/¯

  6. You know right!! I woke up the other day and decided I wanted to start lifting.... but the world's strongest man squats 700lbs if I did that I'd break my back and my wife would leave me.

  7. 37R with $570k in retirement accounts, between 401k and IRA's about 160k is Roth the the rest is Traditional.

  8. GFY! Congratulations, must be an amazing feeling to execute a decades long plan and find success at the end of that venture.

  9. (A) I think this self selecting group tends to be more optimistic than most and (B) by persuing FI we’re already better setup to handle life’s bumps.

  10. I think you hit on two very good points.

  11. I mean we can't be the only cross overs... right?

  12. Redditors whine about not being taught how to do their taxes in school, but they're experts when it comes to loopholes and avoidance schemes.

  13. Yes, because we all know redditors all went to the same high school and have learned nothing since and have the same experience and are all the same person anyways.

  14. While you raise a valid point, this thread is responding to someone who is claiming people are getting paid twice by donating to a charity, and also evading taxes some how in the process.

  15. so you mention spending more when you retire bc you'll have free time. I think thats great but what throws me off is that you mention 600k but go on using the word WE.

  16. Yes, my SO will draw a pension at that point that will be ~45k

  17. Planning on 45k from our pension, 50k from our portfolio, so we are planning on spending quite a bit more in retirement, since we'll have more time to travel.

  18. Honestly, it's so dumb, but I love this game every time it comes up, I'd love to know what this says about me. Both of these are the top recommendations after women/men are....

  19. If cleaned and cooked properly I think carp are quite good.

  20. Please, enlighten me. What is the proper process to cook and clean the common carp?

  21. Agreed! Getting snipped is the single greatest choice you can make to eliminate suffering and exploitation.

  22. 800 -> 830 was a long slow slough for me, eventually it required being very intional to break my plateau at 820...

  23. Companies disposing of something that is usable should be illegal, not a tax write-off.

  24. If it’s past the “best by” or “sell by” date, they should be able to claim an impairment charge.

  25. Right, which goes against the COGS, right? So it's just a business expense.

  26. Not to 1mm yet, but here's my path based on liquid asset.

  27. ah my bad, i meant income not revenue.

  28. poland has a 19% corporate income tax (9% if small buisness) and 30% personal net income tax + 15% gross personal income if you want to have insurance. which usually amounts to the 60% net income. add in the 21% VAT you pay on basically everything

  29. I don't really understand adding corporate and personal tax rates together. But apples to apples in California highest earners are paying 13% state income, 37% federal income, 7.6% Social Security and Medicare and 6% sales (higher for some products).

  30. Yes. If you have such good DNA and so much money that any suffering the child may endure will be cancelled out by the AMAZING life and opertunities they will enjoy.

  31. First of all, I think you are glorifying a life you don't understand by not acknowledging their whole reality, only the pieces you envy.

  32. They do, I’ve never encountered one that doesn’t.

  33. I have to choose where I want to stop at the limit or spill over into after-tax.

  34. It is impossible to say, hand sizes vary. You should include a banana for scale.

  35. Yeah, it's super weird she chose that job. It's like an obgyn (I think they do this) disagreeing on abortion. Or a politician not willing to sell their souls to a handful of corporations.

  36. Not defending her, but when she chose to run for the office same-sex marriage was illegal in our commonwealth, Kentucky has in its constitution an amendment defining marriage as being between a man and a woman.

  37. Her job is to follow the law as it is now. Not as it was when she took office. If it doesn’t match her convictions then she can always quit.

  38. I agree! But the comment above asked why she would take the job if she objected to the duty... I was just providing the context that same-sex marriage was not part of the job when she ran and was elected.

  39. Mine aren’t, but neither is my infant daughter. Does that mean I’m involved in human slavery?

  40. You're on the right track. I wouldn't go the slavery route, but I would contest children, like pets are not vegan.

  41. This argument is only convincing if you ascribe to a negative utilitarian meta ethical view in my opinion. I do not.

  42. You were quick to equate pets and children when you thought it severed your point, but you hesitate to apply the same adopt don't breed philosophy when your progeny is in question?

  43. 37, never been selected. I got a notice for federal jury once, filled out a ton of information, they never called me back.

  44. 3. They already don’t believe women. Can you imagine how viciously they’d tear apart any woman who shot a man in self defense? They would never believe them.

  45. Holy hell, she killed him in his sleep and only spent 10 months in jail!!
