1. I feel the way you feel about pickle about tomatoes specifically on sandwiches. I like tomato. I can pop cherry tomatoes as a snack. But NOTHING ruins a sandwich for me more than sliced tomato on it. Now it’s all I can taste, none of the meats, cheeses or spreads; just wet overwhelming tomato flavor.

  2. I feel exactly the same about lettuce. Love a salad, but if lettuce so much as touches my taco/burger/sandwich I can’t eat it. It overwhelms everything else.

  3. Forgot to say, congrats!! Hoping you have a better experience this time with whoever you choose :)

  4. Thank you so much! I do too, but I feel much better prepared after going through it once already. I know the red flags to be aware of now! Appreciate your response :)

  5. My previous OB was very dismissive. His way of speaking was patronizing. I threw up a lot for the duration of my pregnancy, and at one point I started feeling like something was really wrong. I went by his office and he acted like I was such a bother, I was just being dramatic. Ended up, I was going through withdrawals of my anti anxiety medication because I was throwing it up every day. I wanted at that point to switch OBs but ended up deciding not to rock the boat. Shockingly, the man who was dismissive and treated me like a dumb child didn’t do any better during my difficult labor. Just make sure to trust your gut, don’t be afraid to advocate for yourself, and take that relationship with your OB really seriously.

  6. Well, I had to take my toddler on the bus yesterday in his stroller since he has a broken leg. Can't take him out and fold it up since we're basically using it like a wheelchair. I spoke to the driver while getting onto the bus and she gave me a dirty look, rolled her eyes, then looked away and refused to acknowledge me. I still can't figure out what the problem was, other than maybe she thought I was lying so I didn't have to fold it? So, yeah. Who knows.

  7. I’ve never done WFH since I’m in operations, but I’ve been home for the last three weeks with my kid. He broke his leg and isn’t mobile, so daycare is out. First week was lovely, but at this point I’m going insane. Especially with the weather, being locked inside with a stir crazy 3 year old. No advice but I deeply feel for anyone who has to do this on the regular!

  8. Mermaid bar 89 macdougal I have been there with my kid before they have fish tacos and mac and cheese for kids

  9. Seconding this! Last time I went, there were families with kids.

  10. Which ones are this protected? The Hudson Greenway and the one outside the Navy Yard. That’s about it. There are parking protected ones but those are frequently blocked by cars so not nearly as good.

  11. In theory, Grand Concourse in the Bronx has some of the best bike lanes I've found in the city. In practice, despite the fact it's raised up from the street, people still drive up and park on it. (Worth noting, it's always the worst in my experience near the precinct on 181st, which says a lot about how much NYPD cares about doing anything about it.) I stopped bike commuting once I moved to the Bronx because I'd be an anxious wreck by the time I got home home from work, just from dodging cars.

  12. Get a Yoto! It has a radio option with kid friendly music and at night it plays night time quieter songs, my 5 yr old loves it!

  13. Girl, good on you for thinking about this at 24. It took me another 4 years or so to start wrapping my head around it. You're in a great place to make changes for yourself!

  14. I’ve only seen a couple of ads on the train but I got my kid a Yoto speaker for Christmas after seeing the ad and we all love that thing.

  15. I manage waste management and recycling and general non-horticultural operations for a nonprofit that runs a public space, I make $120k. I make trash ✨glamorous✨ yall

  16. the NYPD just decides a place is a parking lot sometimes. They took over playgrounds during covid. They pretty much stole an entire street by the HQ by the brooklyn bridge for "security" reasons. They closed an exit from the brooklyn bridge even.

  17. South side of the reservoir inside Central Park, across from the precinct on the 86 transverse. They’ve completely destroyed the trail there, repair does nothing because it’s back to a potholed mess within a week. Incredibly unsafe and disrespectful.

  18. I have 50. I’m a manager and it’s spread out over ten supervisors, six with a technical role, and 34 front line over 3 shifts 7 days a week. It’s way too many and is insanely stressful and overwhelming. The supervisors are for operational support and the roles aren’t structured to facilitate direct reports. They’re in the process of hiring a second manager to take one of the shifts, so 18 of my current staff will go to that person. Still way too many left on my plate. Annual evaluations are a special kind of hell - I calculated roughly 3 hours of time per staff person between writing, getting feedback from my senior leadership, rewriting, and delivering over the course of eight weeks.

  19. Been playing it daily since I saw it mentioned in this sub! I like it a lot, hope it makes it to the app.

  20. I (maybe stupidly) thought helicopter crash = quick blunt force trauma. I made the mistake of being morbidly curious and reading his coroner report and it was awful, I just hope it was over very quickly and he didn’t suffer or see his daughter suffer.

  21. The autopsy report confirmed that everyone on board died instantly, none of them had inhaled any smoke. So there’s that, at least.

  22. As a lifelong New Yorker I can say: this the Bronx for sure

  23. It’s on third ave, I was gonna say East Harlem

  24. What I find strange is that no one has spoken out to say they saw the couple and that it was/wasn’t them. (The video is super short and they’re walking really fast, but I would assume that they spent more time at the shopping center than what’s depicted in that video.) Now that the video has seemingly become world-famous, you’d think that somebody would be excited for their 15 minutes of fame appear on TMZ or whatever.

  25. Same with them going to watch the kids playing sports over the weekend supposedly. No one saw them? Very weird.

  26. Chalk, inflatable pool, kid sized basketball hoop, one of those step2 ride on roller coasters, water table. We also just got two 6x2 raised garden beds on wheels to plant this spring with veggies. It’s surprised me how much we’ve been able to do in our tiny space

  27. Somewhat similar situation, when we were pregnant with our son we moved to a bigger unit in our building and purposefully chose one with an empty unit below. (At that time the building management was going through legal issues and wasn’t able to fill apartments so we knew it would be empty awhile.) A couple moved in when my son was around a year old, and we slipped a “welcome to the building” note under the door with our phone numbers in case the noise was ever too bad, along with a gift card to a nice coffee shop around the corner. I felt weird about it at first, didn’t know if it would be awkward, but they really appreciated it and were so kind for the rest of the time we lived there. Definitely didn’t regret doing it!

  28. Shouldn’t there be money and birds in your meme?

  29. I thought of that but I’m not nearly savvy enough to figure out how to edit gifs 🙃

  30. How do you do the cash back I barely get 20$ accumulated and then I use it towards my balance.

  31. You can cash it out instead with the chase cards I use and Apple has a new feature where you can open a savings account and they automatically deposit any “Apple Cash” you earn, so I started cashing in my points from my other cards and moving that over too. I’ve been putting everything on credit cards for the two weeks since I set that up and I’ve got $110 so far. I can’t believe it took me this long to figure out, feels like free money (as long as I’m paying the balance every month)

  32. Give it some time, my friend. It’s been cold and wet for the majority of your time here so far, most people are still in hibernation mode. Echoing what others said about looking for hobby groups, but also be aware that it’s a total normal, accepted thing to go out and about solo. My best night in the city by far my first few months here was walking into a random Irish pub in Hell’s Kitchen on a Tuesday night. (Still friends with the bartender on FB 7 years later 🤣) You’ll find your place. Good luck!

  33. Isn't it crazy? I was just thinking about the same thing while applying to 3K programs. I work 9-5 and my partner works 6am-2pm so we're counting our lucky stars that we're able to make 8:30 drop off/2:30 pick up work. I know that the daycare we use currently will pick kids up from school at the end of the day and cover until 5:30, but that's just another added expense that we're trying to avoid and would limit where we could enroll him. For school closures, our workplace provides a benefit through bright horizons that gives 10 subsidized days each for in-home childcare, it comes out to like $50 a day, so that's our plan for that. Not ideal but if you don't have family support there aren't a lot of options! Maybe check with your employer about any benefits like that that might be available to you

  34. Where do you draw the line though? I take prescription medication for anxiety and depression, and before trying to get pregnant I attempted to wean off of them under my doctor's supervision. When I got down to the lowest amount I began to have daily, unprovoked panic attacks. With support from my OBGyn and my psychiatrist I stayed on the meds while pregnant. Continuing to take them slightly elevated the risk of my fetus developing heart abnormalities, but that risk was small enough that my mental health and wellbeing (and the risks of uncontrolled anxiety on the fetus) was prioritized in this case. It feels like we're heading in a direction where my ability to make that decision for myself, with support from my healthcare team, is going to be criminalized. If I miscarried in Oklahoma, would I be charged with manslaughter?

  35. The line is pretty obvious. Hard drugs like meth and bath salts or acid shouldn't be even taken in the first place.

  36. It's not obvious, though. If I was in a state where abortion/miscarriage is criminalized, I lost a pregnancy, and happened to be taking a medication with the potential to cause harm to a fetus, it's no stretch at all to think that I and the doctors who prescribed the medication would be prosecuted.

  37. Not today, but earlier this week. We were leaving for daycare, he wanted milk. He NEEDED milk. He HAD TO HAVE MILK OR HE WAS GOING TO DIE. Was he at that moment holding a sippy cup full of ice cold milk fresh from the fridge? Yes. Did that matter? No. MILK!
