  2. No One saw the Instagram video with the mom going to school to get their dog? I'm pretty much sure I saw such a video this week already....

  3. Well you have to be aware of your surroundings when you drive. I speak for my city (Catania) you have scooters overtaking you left and right all the time, people crossing the streets pretty much everywhere and if you stick too much to the rules when you drive you will piss people off 😁

  4. We had a car part stolen from a private parking in Catania that was supposed to be closed so... Do not leave it in parkings in the city center

  5. Reading your post I thought it was my sister that wrote it at first, but our countries are different. Our dad was diagnosed last week, 63 yo, apparently still standard risk and at a very early stage of the illness. He first developed severe back pains and that's how they discovered it. Our luck in all of this is that since the first visits he saw a doctor specialized in myeloma, which pushed for getting a bone marrow analysis asap because almost nothing was showing in blood analysis. He starts therapy in a few weeks. This is all new for us and I'm still not sure how to navigate it all, but I'm glad I joined this group to read some encouraging stories.

  6. THIS! In first 10 levels or so, maybe your value ratio is lower, but once you get past 20 or 30 you’re just turning into a glorified pack mule by looting for anything that isn’t an awesome enchanted item, or high value/low weight. Easy rule to say but hard to follow. I’m constantly reminding myself (sometimes audibly) “you have $400,000 and the highest smithing and enchanted items possible, do you REALLY need another Ebony Axe?”  No, I do not.

  7. Meanwhile my Lakeview Manor house is literally repleted with many of the special enchanted weird items I found and some normal ones as well. Basically my character is a serial hoarder.

  8. I kind of doubt any guide is going to be able to predict the gasses any better than me though.   I get that gasses can kill but if it's that unpredictable no guide is predicting it either unless they're a trained geologist

  9. Many guides in fact are trained geologists, that's why they can guide you on an active volcano

  12. Thérèse a very nice meat place in Cefalù, Braceria Italiana Fuorimondo. They've got and extensive wine cellar and the meat is top notch (only minus, not all the meat they serve is local)

  13. Thanks so much for your advice! Where would you suggest we visit instead of Taormina? :)

  14. Almost all buses going from one major city to another have big storage spaces, the bus driver usually opens them upon arrival or as they previously said you can open them on your own. Take a look at SAIS and Interbus websites, they should have more info on the baggage size allowed. City buses like the one you want to take in Palermo may not have any dedicated space but you can just find a spot standing in the middle of the bus if it's not too crowded, or think about using Uber to reach your hostel.

  15. Update : always ASK beforehand to the bus driver if you can open them, some companies require them to be the only person to open the baggage compartment!

  16. Remember than the Monastery of Bénédictins in Catania is open to public but it's a university, so keep in mind that it could be closed on Sundays. You should definitely book a guided tour with Officine Culturali to visit it, they also do English tours and with them you can access some very interesting areas of the Monastery that otherwise are closed to the public. More info on the tours in Italian here

  17. If you haven't yet (and probably you already did your research ok this), take a look at online banks like Revolut and check whether you can have a Revolut account as a resident of your country

  18. Started at 31, hope to get the second one after I turn 32!

  19. Esatto.

  22. As others said, almost no point in buying tickets in advance, there is no price difference with Sais or Interbus. If you really want, you can buy your tickets in advance on their websites or on the SAIS app (you'll see the price does not change)

  23. Great answers here.

  24. Hi I'm sorry I don't have time to respond to all your questions but there is massive unemployment in Sicily, I think it's unrealistic to expect to find a job at all, let alone if you don't speak Italian and have no connections in the area. Marsala is not a very big and busy town, if you want to go I would recommend just visiting as a tourist and travelling around a bit. Public transport is not very reliable so I would really recommend hiring a car if you could afford it. I'm sorry but I think you really need a reality check about your plans. I would look into having a holiday and forget about working there.

  25. Upvoting the previous comment, unemployment is really a thing in Sicily... Maybe try your luck in a more touristy area during high season, where knowing English is useful. All the jobs you cited are exactly the ones where you should speak at least some Italian to begin with. Travelling around Italy and Europe from Sicily could be done on trains, (you're in for a treat when you see how the trains cross the canal) but I wouldn't say it is well connected and cheaper than flights so many people still prefer to fly to Center/Northern Italy. Yes you can buy things there, don't worry. There are some types of goods you can't bring back assuming you're from the US, search for "Prohibited and restricted items from abroad" on Google. It's cheaper to buy an old car than actually hire it in Sicily for such a long time probably and in some places you'll need one for sure, apart from that check for buses. Also keep in mind that most cities and towns in Sicily are actually safer than some in mainland Italy.

  26. A good starting point is listening to Rosa Balistreri's songs and listening to other Sicilian singer/songwriters like her, also Franco Battiato did a few songs in Sicilian. Also you can research Giuseppe Pitré and its works, he collected a lot of exemples of Sicilian from différents parts of the island. It's quite old and different from nowadays spoken language but that could be a starting point.

Coraggio.

  30. The Agrigento seaside part is actually beautiful! It's not very touristic yet so finding a luxurious resort can be tricky but think about staying around there eventually, or going south to Portopalo/Marzamemi maybe.

  31. Try San Domenico Palace they shoot White Lotus in there I think

  32. There are a bunch of trains that go from Cefalù to Palermo and from there you can get in a bus, otherwise see if there are any direct bus to the airport

  33. With easyJet you usually leave from gate C, which is really small and usually not so busy so one hour before your flight leaves it's more than enough, otherwise 1.5/2 h it's ok, its really a small airport even if it can be crowded sometimes

Courage
