1. Please can we not put down all reviewers that donā€™t like the movie. Not everyone is going to like the movie and thatā€™s life. Just becomes so toxic and silly when we just denounce anyoneā€™s opinion that doesnā€™t match the general consensus

  2. Idk why you're being downvoted. I agree that a lot of the critic's negative reviews seem to be steeped in bias and misconceptions about the series. But their opinions are still valid as is everyone else's. People should just watch the movie to form their own opinion.

  3. The problem I have is that a lot of the negative reviews didnā€™t seem to have a working knowledge of the source materialā€”for example, by complaining about pacing issues that didnā€™t exist in the book or (in one case) arguing that Lucy Grayā€™s disappearance was meant to set up a sequel.

  4. Nah I disagree. a good book to movie adaptation should be able to stand on its own, without the prerequisite of having to rely on the book to watch the movie. Because guess what? A good chunk of the general population watching the movie probably doesn't plan on reading the book either.

  5. This is the same criticism Mindy Kaling gets (Indian woman x Jewish man in her case).

  6. I agree with you. And to add on, while criticisms are 100% valid (many of which I agree with), their white counterparts/colleagues are never met with the same amount of criticism. Expectations placed on WOC writers to incorporate diversity into their stories is always much higher.

  7. Most of the time it seems like people donā€™t get that not everyone has to like endgame ships and they have their own preferences, and thatā€™s okay! šŸ˜… like you can prefer ships that never even kissed and arenā€™t canon in any way. Thatā€™s the fun, at least for me. Some people just take it all way too seriously.

  8. Fr, idk why some ppl feel the need to police other people for having different preferences/opinions. Especially, when a huge selling point of love triangles from a marketing standpoint is to get different people to rally behind the different love interests (like yes, the show is clearly conrad= endgame, but the writers have clearly written things so that other dynamics can still be enjoyed by different people. Like not everything has to be about endgame).

  9. Yeah, its unfair to use future-book moments to tear down characters in the show and it feels cheap and patronizing to fans who didn't read the books. For example, when fans point out the fact that Jeremiah

  10. A good tv show adaptation should be able to stand on it own, without knowledge of the book/movie it's adapted from. The story shouldn't rely on people having read the source material to follow along, so I agree that it's super annoying when people make comments/judgements about characters based on scenes that don't exist/haven't happened yet in the tv show.

  11. Agreed!! I think it's also helpful for fans to perceive the show and book its adapted from as separate entities. No matter how much they deviate from the source material with the show, you'll ALWAYS have the books as you read them and be able to go back to them. That remains unchanged. The adaptation is simply just a new version of the story you already love. Obviously ppl being disappointed is still valid, but for me, that sort of perspective has personally helped me appreciate adaptations a lot more without getting stressed about all the changes.

  12. Where in the books does it say that he excluded her from everything as kids?? I haven't read the books in awhile, but I remember Jeremiah and Belly were basically like 2 peas in a pod as children. She was super close to him and they hung out together all the time (more with him than any of the other boys), and there were a ton of flashbacks that supported that.

  13. She got left out all the time! Sure there were moments when Conrad or Jeremiah each let her tag along, but she constantly reminisces about always being left out. If anything Steven instigated this, but the other boys went along with it a lot

  14. You're allowed to dislike the character, but imo there is a lot of black and white thinking in this post.

  15. I agree with OP and I love Jeremiah as a character! But heā€™s a villain in my eyes. I said this a couple days ago but I donā€™t even think heā€™s a villain because heā€™s some kind of hurdle between Conrad and Belly, but 2 main pillars of his character are jealousy and self-indulgence and historically in story telling these are ā€œbad guyā€ traits.

  16. Yes but just because someone has negative traits/flaws, that doesn't automatically make them a villian. Narratively speaking, that's makes no sense. It's like calling Dawson or Kendall Roy the villian (no, I'm not comparing the characters, just trying to make a point). I respect your opinion, but agree to disagree šŸ‘

  17. Agreed!! I really annoys me when people dismiss filler episodes as being pointless. Whether they're executed well or not, they're there to help flesh out the world and characters, and to make the show's universe feel more lived in. 8 episodes is truly nothing compared to the 20 episode long arcs from network tv shows back in the day.

  18. This kid doesnā€™t manage his feelings well. Using Susannahā€™s illness to guilt Belly for choosing Conrad, is so shitty, especially when he knows how much she loves his mother.

  19. To call his behaviour sociopathic is such a reach lol he's an immature 16 year old teenager. The amount of ppl who have so much sympathy and understanding for Conrad, Belly etc. for all their mistakes, yet can't extend the same to Jere. It's a fictional teen DRAMA, the writers intend for these characters to do shitty stuff as a reflection of growing up/coming of age.

  20. i agree about that, but none of the speculation even started before he made that post. don't get me wrong, i am not condoning leaving nasty comments on anyone's page for that matter. another part of it was people speculating he didn't want to be associated with the show even though the show is what made him famous (like jacob elordi with the kissing booth). things weren't just about his gf, him, and lola.

  21. I don't understand this criticism that Chris doesn't want to be associated with the show? He promotes the show a ton? People are just weird and hyper scrutinize everything these actors do.

  22. It's not that the actual actor looks like this, lol. This is what Aemond, the character that the actor plays, should look like due to years of incest

  23. I get the joke, but the character's face is still the punchline in all these memes, and it's weird when the memes are all targeting the same characters/actors. The intention just feels mean-spirited

  24. I thought Belly/Jeremiah's chemistry was good/felt very lived-in, but it definitely felt more platonic than romantic most of the time (other than like 1-2 scenes yall know which ones). I think it's mainly due to the fact that their romance as of season 1 is very one-sided and Belly doesn't really reciprocate or longs for him like she does Conrad.

  25. I think they're both genuinely good guys who are just flawed like any other human.

  26. I feel like it's going to be REALLY messy, and while I love the drama, I can't help but feel bad for Jeremiah. Belly literally led him on, asked him to the ball etc. only to drop him for Conrad at the end LOL

  27. Watching it back, I think it's one of her best season 1 solos. There are some great nuances in her emotion and movement, especially for an 8 year old.

  28. At first it seemed really easy for me to say Jeremiah is the better one for Belly. He was happy around her and couldnā€™t focus in the volleyball game because he was too busy watching Belly. The KISS in the pool. Just everything seemed to add up that he is right for herā€¦

  29. That's fair, however I'm pretty sure Belly was way closer to Jeremiah than to Conrad when they were kids? In the books, it's made pretty clear that they've always been best friends so it's not like Conrad was the only one who spent time with her growing up. But I agree, she's always had a really strong affection for Conrad and how he never really teased her.

  30. There was literally no plot left to show. Idk what people were expecting, some crazy plot twist or a new death? You're free to feel that way, but I think it was a nice homage to the core of what the show is about.

  31. Cause the story demands it. Her relationship with Miguel was definitely more smooth sailing than with Jack, and probably with less conflicts, but it was also kind of surface level in comparison. Jack and Rebecca's marriage was far flawed but that's because the story took the time to develop their relationship and convey marriage in all of its messiness/complexity. I don't understand why people are comparing their marriage like they're equals on the show.

  32. Idk too much about ice dance so I'm curious as well! I've watched a ton of D/W performances and I agree they were definitely deserving of a few of those titles, but it's surprising (and almost frustrating) that V/M never came out on top once.

  33. I don't know much about skating technique, but I actually enjoy watching H/D more for some reason. C/B are incredible, but their performances sometimes feel a little imbalanced, which takes me out of it sometimes. It's more interesting when both partners are giving equal performance and are complementary in movement. I'm no skating expert though so this is probably an unpopular opinion.

  34. idk if thatā€™s true. julie and the phantoms got not only a lot of a american views but also international views. the soundtrack charted on itunes and billboard and the fans were commenting under every netflix post for over a year. (mind you they were continuously posting about this show which lowkey makes me feel like they were taunting the fans) but anyways i donā€™t think views is the only aspect for what gets picked up.

  35. Idk about that. I think the JATP fandom was just really strong and dedicated... Looking at flix patrol, the overall views weren't great despite strong critical reception. Tall Girl on the other hand made negative headlines but as a result ended up being more mainstream, and large reactors like Dylan probably contributed to the increased hate watching, which adds to views quite substantially. Also, I'd imagine a musical is much more expensive to make compared to a cheesy teen movie.

  36. I think Timothee Chalamet comes off as really intelligent in his interviews.

  37. I think there's a lot of bias here. I can't think of many actors within his age range who can articulate themselves like he can- he's no mathematician but he's obviously quite intelligent and introspective if you take the time to watch a small handful of his interviews. Idk why you're getting downvoted.

  38. Yes she's so young and yet has persevered through some pretty high-pressure circumstances, I'm sure this wasn't the most difficult things she's done, but it couldn't have been easy either!

  39. By re-posting you're still perpetuating the spread of something that was meant to be private.

  40. yeah but you get their point. what jojo did was completely different than being a radio city rockette or training at one of the most prestigious dance schools in the country or being a background dancer to Katy Perry.

  41. ofcourse! But I'm also saying her training can't be simplified as being a small dance dancer either, when she danced prominently in the LA dance scene.

  42. yeah but Jojo also gets harped on the most for experience when sheā€™s probably 4th in terms of dance experience. when sheā€™s doing well she deserves the credit sheā€™s getting.

  43. yesyes! She's always been a fantastic performer and I do agree that ppl descredit that just because she's had dance experience. Also imo Professional dancers are also not always better than non professionals, as I think kids in the comp world today are pretty damn good and many are stronger than commericial dancers (and vice versa ofcourse).

  44. Jenna was fantastic in that one, but I don't think she choreographed that dance if I'm mistaken
