1. It’s misplaced anger that should be towards the referees. I personally don’t hate Edey at all, but it was so god damn frustrating watching him get away with offensive fouls so regularly. He plays an incredibly physical post game a lot of the times but it felt like a foul was called anytime someone tried to hold their ground physically against him. That’s what frustrated me the most about him. He initiated so much contact and the defender basically had to just let it happen or else they’d be in foul trouble. But I was mad at the refs, not Edey. If it’s working for him, why wouldn’t he keep doing it?

  2. Yeah they just reply like you’re only saying it because you’re salty that they won or something like that. It’s incredibly annoying.

  3. At what point do you question whether Painter is the guy to get you over the hump

  4. For Purdue this is over the hump. They’ve only ever made 3 Final Fours, they are a regular season program.

  5. is there a worse mascot/team name than boilermakers? surely the volunteers is bad too but come on

  6. I’m an MSU fan because I grew up in Lansing, and lived there most of my life, but I technically have no family ties and didn’t go there. But it’s my hometown team still and I’m as big an MSU fan as anyone.

  7. Lmfao. So you need to be worst team in the league for how long? To have "right to be pissed"? Go watch yotes, u will love them!

  8. I mean, the Yotes have reason to be optimistic too! Cooley is legit, Doan has looked good. They have a solid prospect pool. Is there some different approach you think they should be taking other than drafting and developing and hoping they find their stars?

  9. "Is there some different approach you think they should be taking other than drafting and developing and hoping they find their stars?"

  10. So you like the Coyotes approach of drafting and developing, but you’re upset that we have a team that’s in the playoff hunt currently while ALSO having a Top-5 prospect pool…? Make it make sense. We did exactly what you’re saying while also starting a culture of winning in the process…our future stars are nowhere near ready to be in the NHL leading a competitive team yet, but that doesn’t mean they don’t exist. We are doing the exact same thing as the Coyotes other than actively tanking…but if we tanked harder, we’d be the Pistons who have finally acquired the elite tier prospects now but the fans can’t wait for them to even hit their early 20’s to expect some success. Don’t you see how deluded all of that sounds? There’s no pleasing anyone unless the GM’s hit the magical contender button that you all seem to think is so easy to do. There’s soooo many fans out there that would kill for the historical success AND future prospects that the Pistons and Red Wings have right now. And maybe some of these guys won’t pan out and we have to pivot, but we have to at least let it play out before we jump to conclusions and act like cry babies. Again that’s just sports man, it’s ups and downs and no set way to succeed, there’s so many factors and approaches, and what works for one team won’t work for another and what worked in one era might not work in the future. That’s so many components and it’s all humans playing a game, and that’s what’s supposed to be the fun of it, but apparently not to some fans. It’s just a product to y’all and that’s sad.

  11. He was probably on his way out of USC anyways, going to assume its similar to how Shaka Smart played out at Texas

  12. True, but Marquette and Texas are closer in my mind. SMU is a significant step below USC as far as recruiting goes at least. It’s a solid job to land if you’re thinking you’ll be fired though!

  13. The irony of this is that Marquette is probably the most successful program out of any of those.

  14. That’s a good point! Only difference I see is that the ACC is in turmoil and the Big Ten is strong, and USC can probably match or exceed anything SMU offers in both salary and resources.

  15. That should be the Purdue basketball program’s slogan.

  16. In truth, they never stood for any of that. What really changed is they stopped pretending to.

  17. They didn’t even stop pretending, they still claim to stand for all of these things. They just now don’t put any effort into it anymore, they’ve abandoned all nuance and have gone fully into blatant lying in the face of contradictory evidence, and their base loves it so much that I don’t think they’ll ever go back. They don’t have to put any thought or effort into their lying anymore.

  18. Honestly this feels like Fields’ best case scenario though. He gets to learn from Russ who’s had loads of success and if Russ plays like he did in Denver he will get the opportunity to play, probably this season. I can’t imagine anywhere else offers him a better outlook in the immediate future. Plus the Steelers were a playoff team last year so it’s not like he’s going to some scrub team. I wouldn’t be surprised to hear this was one of Fields’ preferred destinations.

  19. I follow the Colts and their sub is showing sources saying it’s a done deal and sources saying the deal isn’t happening at all, so maybe we shouldn’t react quite yet. Even they are torn on which source is more reliable.

  20. Oh please. Tom Izzo alone has 4x as many Final 4 appearances as the entire Purdue program. I doubt many programs are jealous of your regular season successes.

  21. We lost because we couldn’t hit an open shot. But Purdue fans seem to be the only fans that don’t have an issue with how the refs call Edey. It’s not just “salty” rival schools. I saw plenty of non Big Ten fans in there commenting on that. Despite what you think it’s possible for some fans to simultaneously be mad at the referees and also recognize that we lost that game regardless due to our inability to make shots.

  22. I wouldn’t go that far, but the way the refs call his game is a joke. He’s allowed to initiate contact on almost every play on offense and still gets the call. It’s really the refs that are bad for the sport. Edey gets away with more offensive fouls than anyone I’ve ever seen.

  23. Edey has committed three fouls so far. They need to start calling those clear outs with his arms and elbows.

  24. It’s been like this the last two years. Edey initiates all the contact and gets all the calls. Purdue fans act like anyone who points this out is just salty lol.

  25. It’s on Big Ten Network, I had it recorded on my YouTube TV so I don’t know if there’s a link for it!

  26. I mean, Goff has led one team to a Super Bowl, and took the Detroit Lions the farthest they’ve been in decades. I’d say he’s got a pretty solid resume as a winning QB. Many QB’s that are perceived as better than him have done less as far as winning goes.

  27. Lamorne is so funny on Rick Glassman’s podcast. He does hilarious freestyle raps with Glassman, and they have an episode with Harry Mack that is hilarious.

  28. Nothing lamer than the NBA slam dunk champion being a player that doesn’t even play in the NBA… god damn has this competition been watered down to essentially nothing.

  29. I was lookin up contracts and it made sense to me real fast:

  30. I get the frustration but how is this nepotism? Gallinari isn’t getting a new deal out of this so Arn Tellem’s son isn’t gaining anything out of this move. Unless we extend Gallinari, which I doubt will happen.

  31. It’s sounding like we’ll get Campbell and Brady to round out too. This staff hit the ground running hard here,

  32. One of the MSU insiders on 247 said we’re backing off Campbell for now, so we’ll see about him.

  33. Excellent hire, had a Top 10 defense in the nation at Minnesota in ‘19, ‘21 and ‘22. He’s young with Midwest ties and seems to be a solid recruiter.

  34. It’s based on nothing. Chiles is damn near a lock to MSU and Smith isn’t taking Moore over Chiles. Even if someone else emerges for Chiles there’s nothing linking Moore to MSU yet. Michigan is a better spot for him honestly as much as I hate it. If JJ stays it’s the best spot for him since it’s reported he doesn’t mind sitting to be developed. If he wants to play right away he should go to Miami or FSU (unless they get DJU).

  35. If you are bringing up Liberty you are basically admitting you have no argument. That's like saying James Madison should go instead of Alabama - it's fucking stupid and ridiculous

  36. You’re the one that has zero argument besides “undefeated P5 champ”. You’ve made zero points outside of saying that “obviously an undefeated P5 champion should be in”. While considering nothing else.

  37. It's honestly sad that you are twisting yourself into knots making these pathetic weak arguments to defend something that is so obviously wrong.

  38. Right dude. Says the guys with one weak ass argument who can’t see any other side to this.

  39. Weren't we promised that this was an amazing recruiting class?

  40. It is, Fears is great. Booker barely sees the floor, and Carr has no moves besides cutting to the rim which he rarely does and we are redshirting Normand. At some point this is on Izzo.

  41. Fears should probably be starting he plays hard all the time. Our slow starts have a lot to do with Hoggard playing lazy and shitty.

  42. Fears is the next great MSU point guard. He plays great defense and is always a spark plug to our dead offense.

  43. This just showcases how stupid the college football playoff system is.

  44. I don’t disagree with that, I’m glad it’s expanding. I just feel that under the current system with the stated criteria that’s been in place since it started they made the right choice. It’s honestly shocking that we haven’t had more of this issue with five power conference champions competing for four spots, but it seems like one of the five has always been a significant step behind in the past.
