1. Also, if you have house insurance you should have some legal cover.

  2. Yeah, no, their best is In Utero, then Bleach, then whatever. Bleach is awesome though. If it had been engineered by Albini?

  3. You are missing out on Incesticide for sure. It absolutely is a compilation album but it’s neither a greatest hits or singles collection. A lot of great odds and sods stuff on there.

  4. Yeah, but I had most of that stuff from various boots, imports, etc., before it was collected. Shiiitty sound quality, but that's part of the appeal these days.

  5. That’s cool. I’m not surprised to hear that! As long as you’re not missing out. Back in the day I didn’t have access to any bootlegs so I’ve always been pretty fond of Incesticide though I already had the stuff from it that was released on comps etc

  6. Bands: Slipknot, Korn, Papa Roach, Incubus, Nothingface

  7. Clearly from the covers (!) Kurt was a big fan of The Wipers. Return of the Rat and D7 were both on The Wipers album Is This Real? Youth of America is another great Wipers album. After the Hormoaning ep in the Nevermind era, Sub Pop reissued Is This Real? on cd (it originally came out in 1980) and I bought it then and looked into The Wipers further as, I believe, they were fairly obscure before the Nirvana covers. The power of Nirvana! Another Nirvana favourite is Turnaround which is a Devo cover. The original of that is pretty different. Ignore if you know this already! All the best.

  8. That’s cool. I don’t think RFUS was a conscious attempt to copy Return of the Rat in any way but for the reasons you say, you have raised some interesting similarities. As an aside, D7 on the Hormoning ep is another Wipers cover. As a Nirvana fan, The Wipers are a great band!

  9. oh didnt know this, but still the riff sounds similar to me

  10. Yeah, that’s cool. Both are pretty similar sonically, sharing a raw sound and a common, repeated phrase, chorus so I can kind of see where you’re coming from.

  11. Live! Tonight! Sold Out! on DVD or online is essential and official if you haven’t seen it. Covers Nevermind era but was completed by Krist and Dave after Kurt passed away. Collage of live performances, interviews and touring.

  12. That is so cool. Thanks for posting. Been a huge Chokebore fan since hearing Coat on an AmRep cd comp. One of my favourite bands. The A Taste For Bitters performance live on French TV is one of my all time favourites.

  13. Incesticide is a compilation album so it’s not a studio album as it’s comprised of odds and sods recorded at different times with different producers. On that basis, it’s not comparable to the studio albums although the songs on Incesticide are as good as those on the 3 studio albums. Doesn’t affect the quality of the material but it was also a stop gap at the time between Nevermind and In Utero for those hungry for more Nirvana music. As it was released within the band’s lifetime and has Kurt’s iconic liner notes, it kicks the self titled Greatest Hits album’s ass.

  14. Agree. Not bad list but would have swapped out a couple of choices for Sonic Youth and The Damned. Good to see Ween at #125. Not sure Stevie Wonder and Marvin Gaye, great as they are, meet the rock criteria though

  15. I actually already listened to nevermind thought it was pretty good but skeptical about in utero

  16. We on this sub can only tell you it’s great. Please get on one of your young people streaming platforms or YouTube and have a listen if dad doesn’t have a physical copy. Hope it blows your mind like it blew ours. Your dad seems really cool btw

  17. To go on a publicised tour or to record as Nirvana without Kurt just isn’t very Dave, isn’t very Pat and definitely isn’t very Krist. Video clip is very cool as a one off as is the idea of them playing together privately for fun and to connect with each other and honour their past.

  18. An album is a generally considered to be a collection of songs specifically written and recorded in a studio or studios with the same producer to be released together and generally recorded around the same time. But…. ….. a compilation collection of b sides, radio sessions and non- studio album singles by a band or a collection of their greatest hits are called compilation albums or greatest hits albums so it is muddy. These types of releases, along with live albums include the description ‘album’ so you’re kind of right. Incesticide was a stop gap between Nevermind and In Utero and it comprised songs recorded over a few years and mostly previously released so when Incesticide was released, the songs weren’t new and so it wasn’t as much of a big deal to the media as a studio album was. Although it was a huge deal for fans at the time. Wikipedia discographies in general, for example, alway spilt into category with studio albums listed first. Technically, the news reports could have stated Nirvana released three studio albums and a compilation album but they chose to disregard Incesticide. Also, it’s pretty rare for a band to have sufficient non-studio album material for an album like Incesticide after only two studio albums and hindsight has shown how well Incesticide hangs together and is a lot of people’s preferred Nirvana ‘album’.

  19. This is amazing. Your person is lucky to have known you and hopefully know you again.

  20. That Teenagers message really needed a colour clash rethink.

  21. It’s not illegal to film or take pictures in a public place. Nobody needs to request your consent. The fact our society has chosen to sexualise toplessness is another story.

  22. I bought it when it came out for You Know You’re Right. I could not agree more - I think it is a poor compilation. The drab cover art doesn’t help either and makes it look like a definitive single disc career history which it isn’t.

  23. Awesome family find. Plenty tracks and, as you say, good artwork. Love the randomly titled Nirvana bootlegs like Stiff Drinks, Murder by Guitar and OK. Let’s Rock With Nirvana!!!

  24. I know OP says film, so True Romance but the following are all some multi watched favourites that easily came to mind.

  25. Try Verbena’s album Into The Pink. Produced by one Dave Grohl. Also 8 Way Santa by Tad.

  26. I have no clue what Kurt would have thought of Dookie. I do think that Dookie is much more produced and less ragged sounding than Green Day’s previous releases on Lookout Records but the guitars are much louder on Dookie.

  27. To get to the other seed (if it was actually a pigeon).
