1. I wrote a long post about my search for the perfect family car to replace our Mercedes diesel of 12 years and over 200k miles.we are a family of 6 (4 boys under 14), considered everything you could imagine (and probably several you didn’t) and settled on the EV9. It is a fantastic car! It’s a really great family car.

  2. I believe I’ve read it’s to ensure balance amongst all the battery cells by having them all filled periodically.

  3. That’s the way my karma Fisker is - I think it’s like 20% of the battery that is never used. All I know is after 12 years the car is getting the same 42 miles and not the 50 they claimed !

  4. What an interesting dilemma. The answer is neither, When you chose unconventionality, you also eliminate a lot of other, more typical choices like the chandelier. I would go with sconce(s) so nothing hanging looks odd.

  5. Looking at it now - it seems like it should go parallel to the window - what do the experts think ?

  6. I will add a couple more comments about safety features. I have been extremely impressed and recently the car alerted me when a bicyclist was approaching on the driver side when I was about to exit the car !! The advanced cruise control is really good. Even the lane centering without the cruise control is very cool. And the car always reminds me to check the back seat because we have a child seat in the 2nd row. The safety features are the best I have seen. Regarding range - we have about 1700 miles and since we got the car we have averaged 2.8 miles per kWh - so pretty much dead on what the epa said we should get.

  7. Well we are a family of 6 with four boys aged 14,10,8,3. I can’t answer the question about leasing. But I can tell you the car is very comfortable. The third row is very comfortable, even at 6 feet. The model x doesn’t have a true third row. The Volvo third rows are also very small. Don’t know about the Santa Fe. The hybrid Pacifica is great - and the Rivian is great.

  8. That's the biggest risk behind the great value otherwise of the car. While I don't think there will be NO way to repair the car, I do think it's going to be difficult and slow at best. So up to you if you're okay with that risk, and if you have backup cars just in case

  9. I will chime in here, as an owner of a Fisker Karma, I purchased my car used when Fisker Karma went into BK. For the most part getting parts have not been a problem, my car is now over 12 years old, still runs and there were only 2500 made, there have been over 10,000 oceans made. I wouldn’t worry about finding parts. Finding someone who will work on them will be challenging however. . . .

  10. Purchased my wind at Chula Vista Kia for $67k total , including all fees, title, taxes, etc.

  11. Why did you leave out a Kia EV9 - has won many awards including “World Car of the Year” and “World Electric car of the year”, and has been the favorite of our household.

  12. Well I know a little of conservatives when egg prices skyrocketed - pointing to Biden as the cause - when in reality it was the slaughter of 80 million mostly egg laying hens because of avian flu virus. But people just want to rage.

  13. The important question : Does the car purchase qualify for the 2% back of all your purchases at the end of the year?

  14. I will second the ev9 - we have had it a few months now and it’s great. There is a reason it won car of the year and electric car of the year for 2024.

  15. I’ve had my white GTL since January, still haven’t seen another EV9 on the road. I’m in southern CA

  16. Two months, in a major city of 1.4 million and I haven yet to see another one . . . But it seems they are selling well . . . . What’s going on?

  17. Waiting 3.5 years for what I assume are run of the mill services upgrades —this is ridiculous.

  18. My buddies wife is a standards engineer for a utility company. Big change is gonna be needed to keep up.

  19. Good thing Biden has managed to pass not one but two major infrastructure investments : The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA; also known as the Bipartisan Infrastructure Plan) is the largest reinvestment in our country’s infrastructure in generations. The Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) is the largest climate/energy-related investment in our history.

  20. Working for who, though? It's working for the top 1% while people still struggle, picking up 2nd jobs or "side hustles".
