1. This is a silly little tribute to a big blue bird with a lot of attitude from a d&d campaign.

  2. Made me stop and laugh out loud! So great. Do you mind sharing the blues you chose? I love the choices you ended up making!

  3. i like the colorway but the nitpicky artist in me thinks the two blue shades are too close in value, you might be able to get away with swapping the grayish blue to a darker shade for more contrast. i like the inclusion of the yellow and peach, those colors work really well with blues and greens

  4. I don’t disagree. In person the darker blue looks darker than it photographed, so I think it’ll be okay. Thanks!

  5. Definitely keep the peach. You don’t need as much of it in any one spot as any of the other colours, but it’s really going to make your piece come alive.

  6. I’m going to catch up on the Moogly 2023 Afghan CAL. I should be able the control the amount of peach. Glad yo see others see what I see! It was just brighter than I expected. The perils of shopping online.

  7. Hot and sour soup or Thai tom yum soup is just the best when you’re feeling cruddy! That, fluffy socks, and the extended editions in the background go a long way to setting you right again.

  8. Most FPP patterns I'm seeing say that they don't calculate yardage, they estimate an area. I think you can do some rough math however. Take the finished block size (number would be (height+.5) x(width +.5) where .5 is the 1/4in seam allowance on each side). Then count the number of pieces (we'll call this X). We will pretend each piece has 4 sides for simplicity (and remember this is rough math, not precise math) and needs 1/4in on each side as seam allowance. This means that for even the tiniest piece needs an extra .5 inch horizontally & vertically. Your minimum fabric quantity in square inches would be something like (height +.5 +X/2)*(width +.5 + X/2). A yard with 42 WOF would be 1512 square inches, fat quarter usually has 378 square inches. Divide your fabric requirement square inches by the yardage/fq square inches to determine yardage/fraction of the yardage. Again, it's rough math but it at least accounts for the bare minimum yardage you'll need to make a block of that size with X number of pieces.

  9. Thank you!!! This is what I was thinking I might have to do but much more comprehensive. I really appreciate it!!!

  10. Where on the sweater is the embroidery located? I’ve thought about doing this before but I thought the location of it would probably look weird.

  11. This is just below the collar. If it’s in a weird spot, could you do a lot of little embellishments to make it more intentional?

  12. You should send this to my address so I can take a closer look and offer critiques... (not a scam to get the sweater at all)

  13. I know some folks like using a frame for that reason. I just haven’t gotten around to getting one. I’m careful when readjusting the hoop and try not to over tighten. I also try to minimize how often I need to move the hoop, so that helps. Just wash and iron when you’re done! The wrinkles and lines do come out.

  14. I use a little bit of mild soap (honestly just a little dish soap) in a bing of warm water and just let it soak for a while. Swish it a little and then GENTLY squeeze excess water out. Let it dry a bit and then iron while it’s slightly damp. Make sure you place it finished side down and use a towel or some other layers in between! That will help keep it from getting too hot. Also use a lower temp if you’re burning.

  15. You people need to stop showing me so many cute patterns!

  16. I have the same problem.have to limit my time on this sub! 😭 my mom did me no favors by just gifting me her old floss collection….

  17. I just love her! I made a video of the progress one color at a time but can’t figure out how to post it. 😅

  18. We started dating in June 2015. I made him a sweater for our first Christmas together 6 months later. I've made a sweater for him almost every Christmas and/or Birthday and/or Valentine's Day since. He's got a lot of sweaters by now and I've gotten better at knitting them. Whatever his newest sweater is is usually his favorite. Anyway, we've been married for 5 years now and I'm currently pregnant with our first child. There's no such thing as curses.

  19. That’s a sweet pattern. Did you use a pattern it design it yourself. I’d love to make this one.

  20. The pattern is called Crystal Charm by Marjorie Rhine, Quilt Design Northwest. I purchased it from Etsy so you should be able to find it by the pattern name! I really enjoyed it. Super quick if you’re using charms. I used yardage for my background because it didn’t come as a single pack, but this would look great mixing two different sets of charms packs together (like a light one and a dark one).

  21. Thank you! I can’t take too much credit—the charm pack is doing the heavy lifting.

  22. i like the even distribution, but they are both great! is the fabric all from the same collection? i love it!

  23. Yes! I’m using a charm pack and yardage from Nocturnal by Gingiber for Moda. It’s exceptionally cute and has such a warm autumn vibe! Her sure date is in November so that should go well!

  24. This made me burst out laughing. Me and HSTs are frenemies most days. I appreciate your offer though!

  25. I promised my daughter a wedding quilt. She requested this one:

  26. I may just do this one! I left this a little late and the wedding is quickly approaching. 😅
