1. So we are near a reservation that sells a lot of fireworks and due to this(even though there are laws/ordinances banning fireworks discharge) our neighborhoods turn into war zones around the Fourth of July and New Year’s. So if you have pets or PTSD, be prepared, it gets flipping ridiculous, because of course the police have other things to do rather than enforce the no fireworks or noise ordinances.

  2. Yeah, I’ve kind of noticed that a little bit too. I’ve only had mine a short time (and I have a 2024 bought brand new). I think that’s just the price to pay for getting a hybrid.

  3. If our second dog had been our first dog, he’d have been our last dog. I’m not even kidding. Our first dog was so chill and so mellow (except for potty training gotta be honest)… pup we just got about two months ago has been exhausting. I just gotta get through the next 6 to 9 months without having a psychotic break because of lack of sleep.😂

  4. What no love for the “Lake Stevens soccer football crowd”?? highly suspect 🤭

  5. Rode around in a RAV4 last summer (as a rental) totally uncomfortable..,would never buy a RAV4 no matter how much room was in the cabin, it can’t make up for those seats.

  6. I totally love my coastal gray ❤️….now I do wish I had upgraded from my LE trim lol lol but the cost 💸💸was definitely a driver there.

  7. Our pup is on a low dose of trazadone, and it has really helped. He was suffering from severe separation anxiety as well as thunderstorm, firework, and insect (flies!) phobias. We started using it only for stressful events at first (at full dose which for us was half a pill and it would just knock him out for about 24hrs, but now he is on a daily dose of about 1/4 a pill at night. We tried Clomicalm and that didn't sit well with him, but just a bit of Trazadone seems to take the edge off, so that he's a lot calmer when we're not around and/or not able to give him attention. He didn't use to be able to sleep on his own or be left alone, but now he's able to be more independent (sleeps in his doggy bed away from us) and is not as reactive to noises and people. He's still awake most of the day and as playful as ever, thankfully.

  8. Yeah, the first night we gave half a trazodone. She did pretty well through the night…we then skipped a night, she did ok. Then last night we gave her half a pill and she woke up at 3:30 AM agitated and upset no external reason why. So I think the trazodone may be wearing off too fast. That’s why I’m thinking a maintenance medication might be the answer.

  9. For what is it worth, wanted to add my experience with our newly adopted girl. I combed through her vet records- her previous family had her 3 to 4 different anxiety medication‘s, including Xanax trazodone gabapentin and a last one can’t recall the name.

  10. I hear you. This is not a new thing. She was adopted by a family for 3 weeks with her brother and due to severe littermate syndrome she was returned to the breeder, however right before she was to be dropped off, we took her. She was 3 mos old, and for months seemed to be waiting for the original family to come back, it was heartbreaking. Since this last 4th of July (neighborhood fireworks are off the hook) she’s struggled with loud noises and strangers like never before. 😢

  11. I’ve been applying to jobs for two years to absolute silence. I’m pretty sure I’m actually dead. But sure. Wrong color makeup. What.

  12. Ageism is real out there. It took me a long time after being laid off during Covid isolation to find a fte gig. I basically had to swallow my pride and accept help in getting a leg up from an acquaintance in my field. It was humbling. But, I have a job, it’s tough and some days I’m not sure I have the brain for it any longer. But wishing you all the best.

  13. I saw this post not long after you'd written it and I've reflected for a long time before responding.

  14. We added a second pup 6 weeks ago, and our 2 yo loves him, but her anxiety seems to have upticked… so it’s complicated. Plus, our puppy is very gregarious, definitely different than our older pup. We’re trying to suss it out, (we’re totally exhausted) but honestly knowing what we know now, I think we would have skipped it. But it’s different for everyone.

  15. I like Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer. 50+ bucks a bottle. I'm sure there's a lower priced bb or cc cream that is just as effective. Anyone know a good dupe or similar drugstore brand?

  16. I love Laura Mercier. I get the Luminous finish brighter ? anyway it’s hard to find sometimes because it sells out so fast at Ulta. Good stuff.

  17. If she's whimpering or whining for just a few minutes and falling asleep? Congrats, your puppy is self-soothing, and the intensity should go down over time if you continue with high value chews in the crate, feeding or doing food puzzles in there, or otherwise making it a highly rewarding (but chill) environment.

  18. Agreed. Mine never settles, and goes into full out meltdown if crated during the day. Will sleep at night when tired enough. But during the day is a complete disaster and at 6 weeks of trying literally everything we’re still trying to figure out what to do next. You got this OP.

  19. I am a retired cockroach trainer and my spouse tests sponges. Our budget is 1.4 mil. We’re looking for something on or near water, and that every room has a view of the water, including the bathrooms and closets. We will also need a pond area for our salamander habitat.

  20. Thanks you guys. I have a message into the vets office now to see what they have to say about it. I appreciate this sub so much.

  21. Had my rescue  for a month now, and same issue.  Started doing kikopup‘s separation training in the separation anxiety wiki the automod provided. Still an issue but slowly getting better. Also it’s controversial, but sometimes yeah, you gotta leave the house and do something. Crate em, cover the crate, and they will probably cry themselves out for ten minutes then sleep.

  22. I appreciate the encouragement. I have actually viewed the Kikopup videos and tried the techniques. And I have left the house with pup in crate with a camera on and watched him scream for over an hour. Unfortunately he has off the hook separation anxiety that only repeated small trips out of the house and maturity (hopefully fingers crossed)will someday cure, but I do appreciate your response. 😊

  23. Happy to help! Yikes an hour is a lot. How long have you been doing the kikopup training? It does take a while, and honestly 16 weeks is very young, mine is seven months. I’ll have to let others who actually know for sure confirm, but I have to wonder if not freaking out alone is even a possibility at that age for some pups. As you say, age may help.

  24. I sleep next to him every night as he sleeps in his crate on my nightstand. Anything else and no one within earshot is getting ANY sleep. He is restless, and makes a lot of noises (whining while fast asleep) so I am barely sleeping anyways.

  25. Yes. It sometimes changes pitch, but I’m resigned to being a lifer. 😵‍💫

  26. Yeah, I have one like that. Be careful that he does not make himself his own pack, then good luck training him on recall or anything really because the dog will think whether he wants or needs to listen to you at all. It’s tough. Mine at almost 2 years old still does not have good recall because she looks me over like “yeah do you got some treats for me if not, buzz off”.😑

  27. We wanted a specific model (LE) without a bunch of add-ons from dealer. We specifically were looking for the White w/ Boulder (Gray) interior. They were able to find one that was allocated to another dealer, and did a swap. We should get it in a few weeks (we put $1,000 down to secure the one we wanted). Basically, we're paying MSRP + that 1,350 'destination' fee thing that they charge on everything. We could possibly have tried to get some $500-$1000 off if they had some on the lot to sell that weren't the color/interior/trim we wanted, but it was more important to me to get exactly what we were after.

  28. Love my 2024 LE, coastal blue/black interior. Same feeling regarding power passenger seat, but not willing to shell out 10k for a bump up in trim to get it. No deals to be had last month when we purchased, they seem to be getting scarce.

  29. So, here’s what we’ve been dealing with.. since we brought pup home at 9 weeks old (about 5weeks ago) he has had horrible separation anxiety. The pen was a complete failure, even if we were in the room 3 feet away. We have gradually gotten him to sleep in kennel all night, however the kennel is right next to my bed where he can see me. At this point we are doing well at night, but during the day, even with a Kong treat,he’s good for 45 seconds and then the meltdown commences. The trainer told me not to let him bark it out due to cortisol dumping/stress… my daughters with 2 dogs each s disagree and say that’s the only way. Totally torn at this point.

  30. It's not twice as much work... it's much, much more than that. We had a hard time finding balance between spending time with each dog alone and together. Separate walks, separate training, separate play time, etc. It is a lot more time consuming.

  31. Trazodone was a disaster for me. Worst stuff I ever took, won’t touch it ever again. Maybe people have other experiences and I respect that. My body does not like it.🤷🏻‍♀️

  32. So I felt dizzy and disoriented just …it did not help me sleep, if anything it wound me up. No, my chemistry did not agree with this drug.

  33. And about the only time you do see advertisements regarding hormonal issues for women, it has to do with restoring sexual drive, which benefits (who?) primarily men.

  34. Best thing I’ll click on all day. Maybe all week. Thanks OP I needed that.😘
