I kinda side with the truck drivers: I came from Wilco/Hess and the drivers were our gravy!! I think Buc-eeās is shooting themselves in the foot. Expanding like crazy, but not having the staff or the etiquette to cater the local communities that we are invading. Iāve about had itā¦ 4 stores, all the same exact customers (fat ladies headed to the fudge counter with their suburban driving beef jerky husbands on their way to Estes park/Branson MO/ Huntsville rockets/ whateva.) Iām sorry. Anyone who is still working for this company, work it! Itās a decent paycheck if you donāt have other family obligations. Itās hard AF to wake up and go in to work now that I have a family. I think this company is sucking my soul with their 6 days a week but only paying 39 hours per week. Itās poverty level wages when you look at the schedule. :(
Thatās the crazy part- the loophole! I donāt know about all states, but the 10 or 11 states Iāve lived with horses, always have an equine liability clause on their books basically saying āhorses are dangerous, if you get hurt or killed, itās not anyoneās fault but yours & you canāt sue us.ā As long as you buy one of these signs on Amazon (search āequine liability signā) and post them at your gate and on your barn.. you canāt be sued if some kid gets kicked in the head while on your property. Itās probably nice to have this law as a barn owner, & itās completely nerve wracking as a parent. š«£
There isnāt one known gene responsible for it, and there are quite a few different white patterns some of which the genes havenāt even been identified yet. There are known white patterns like tobiano, frame, splash, etc that cause specific markings so those are identifiable, but in terms of the standard white markings you see on horses without pinto patterns, we donāt really have a real specific answer for that currently.
Thatās really fascinating- Iāve never been smart enough to even think about all that genetic stuff with markings; but It sounds kinda similar to the whorl studies (in which Iām definitely a believer! No more doubles, or god forbid another triple whorl, in my yard. Iām too old to have any extra chance for cray cray these days. š¤Ŗ)
I have $.83 cents left on my balance. Do we just forgo our earnings if less than $2? I wonder how much these low balances adds up to on their balance sheet?
Learn from my mistake: start by researching your target area Ag laws. We didnāt do this when we moved from front range Colorado, to NW GA. I lost my entire critter dreams, moving down to Georgia. Sure the land is cheaper, but the livestock laws here are so strict (compared to Colorado, at least.) Here in Whitfield County GA, we are zoned in rural residential R-5. Turns out, this county requires minimum one acre per animal. Anything over 10 lb, counts. We had Boer Goats and horses moving down here, but we had to board the horses since we only have 5.75 acres. I now pay $650 a month for someone else to throw my hay to my horses that are kept in a 3/4 acre dry lot. Also, we would need to have 40+ acres and be zoned āAgriculturalā in order to keep one rooster. Friends, donāt let friends move to Northwest Georgia. :/
Schedule initial consults with every attorney you can find; to leave your ex with slim pickins! š (Iāve never been married, I just saw this tactic in a movie so I have no idea if it actually creates a conflict of interest.)
I like this horse with its short mouth; & I agree with you letting a horse learn to hold their own bit. I didnāt always see things this way.. old pony club manuals saying to put 2 wrinkles in the corner of their mouths is a hard contrast to some of the cowboy trainers out there today. Either way, good Question & good discussion!
I agree with you and I havenāt even watched them all! lol. He would be a really hard person to be around as a boss. I think he and the hotel Hell guys with the āmotorcoachā are ones who would drive me crazy (itās not a far drive.)
3A's, attitude, attendance and ability.Ā I can teach a lot, but you have to have some of the basics.Ā Although one of the best hands I have ever met started with no horse experience, no real trades experience.Ā He stayed after work every day to learn more on his own time.
Tehe! I bought all my goat fencing on OfferUp/Letgo. I appreciate your side hustle, sir! It saved me boatloads of money, but I sure as heck donāt buy fence that needs to be torn down. That would be for the birdsā¦.
The traffic for me, makes me avoid that city at all cost. I have to go there today in about half an hour, my Waze says 1 hr 44 mins, and itās 66 miles away from me in north GA.
You know they probably stopped at buc-eeās and thought it was āamazing.ā They sound like thru sucked. Good riddance and hope they get back to wherever they came from, soon!
Itās crazy that someone will post their school and name, with a controversial message, right there for anyone on the internet to see. I donāt care whether you agree with the sticker or not, but this seems like an invitation for sketchy people to harass you.
Getting caught in GA w/ one gram of Nebraska ditch weed is the same as getting caught with 1 ounce of fenty meth. Moving to GA can help you quit your weed habit, b/c itās not really worth the risk.
lol- I lived there. Never thought I see Ignacio on random Redditā¦. Ha! Anyway, there was an article on 9News.com last week about a couple being forced to move from their tiny home/camper in Adamās county (Brighton?) area. They were not allowed to stay on their concrete pad with the septic for more than 30 days since their āhouseā had axles. The article went on to say that if they had put their tiny home on a pad and built a barn around it- they wouldnāt have been cited. Food for thought- if the county wonāt approve of it, build a barn around it!!!
Thatās something I donāt think Buc-eeās considered; the HCOL in front range Colorado. I started at the north GA Buc-eeās and it was one of the higher paid entry level jobs. They were competing with Toyo Tire and Qcells Solar panels. Anyone making $23/hr was pretty content with their paychecks in GA. The fact that both locations Iāve worked (GA and now TN) run us on 6 days in a row but capped out at 39 hours per payperiod, sucks. Colorado people wonāt put up with that. Not for a Texas tornado would a Colorado person think $25/hr is worth it when you have to give up every weekend for all of eternity. They wonāt be able to staff their Johnstown location with Colorado locals.. theyāre gonna need to be bussing us poor working asses in from out of state. Kinda funny to me reallyā¦ I was born and raised in that county of Colorado and theyāre not going to be able to staff that location. Mark my words. (If they ask me to go open that store, Iād also say NO. I miss home, but you canāt afford to rent a place in Colorado making that low of wage.
My uncle was treated for a heart attack there in 2022 and the doctor was very condescending to my uncle (who is admittedly, kinda grouchy like āWalterā from Jeff Dunhams show.) I got 2 stamped letters from his Hamilton ER cardiologist (he had a southwest Asian sounding surname) saying that my uncle has blacklisted from all their Hamilton services & will face charges if he continues seeking care from them because he āmade terroristic threats toward the doctor.ā Iām sure my uncle said something stupid, but itās just funny b/c Iām sure it was taken out of context. My uncle isnāt that crazyā¦. š
Thank you. Atlanta is on my list and I really like it there. My only concern with the south is religion, it is very central to the region culture. As an agnostic, I've been to the south and a recurring question I get is what church I go to, even from gay people.
Go a tad west to Huntsville. Itās completely different than āthe Southā & I was so surprised. It feels like a mix between Boulder and Kansas City, to me. With the Army base and the rocket Scientistsā¦ you are more surprised when you do hear a southern accent.

Weāre currently thinking north of Duluth, Minnesota.

Unless its hitting the teeth (which i doubt), its not too low, good for teaching the horse to hold the bit too

A few years ago it snowed on the last day of BVSD school! What a way to start the summer.
A years before that, there was a tornado on the last day of BVSD.

Youāre the most sensible reply on this entire thread. ;)
I work in the fence industry. When we remove replace a chain link fence, if itās in good shape, Iāll salvage it and sell it on offer up
